  1. Sanity is in. They make these things called parafoils . . . . So, I was sitting in my car, flying my kite out the partly open window, when a surprised-looking squirrel came by and said, "I'm sorry, I thought you were nuts."

  2. Since I won a red white and blue Rokk in the last drawing. I'll post the next karma drawing for Veterans Day. Up for the next karma drawing is a barely used Prism Bora 7. Flown twice, it includes genuine Lincoln City beach sand from the 2019 summer and fall kite festivals. Color is lime / citrus, line is included. Some rules and guidelines: Don’t play unless you’re willing to put up a prize and ship it to whoever wins. Shipping is paid by the original poster, the winner pays nothing. Be prepared to ship your prize anywhere in the lower 48 US States. Sorry, but due to shipping costs, we really have to limit this to the lower 48 US States. RULE CHANGE (7/31/2014): Members from Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii are welcome to enter the Karma drawings provided they are willing to pay half of the Karma prize shipping cost. The method and timing of the payment will be agreed upon between the two parties after the drawing for a particular prize. You can choose the length of the giveaway, but keep it between 1 and 2 weeks. Try to ship the prize promptly. You should be able to ship it within a week, but if you can’t, PM the winner and let them know. Sometimes life gets in the way! This whole thing works on the honor system so if there are any problems shipping or receiving a prize, it needs to be worked out between the two parties. Don’t forget…Karma! This isn’t a competition, but feel free to be generous! If you can only put up a hat, or a tail for a stunt kite, great! If you have something in your kite bag that you never fly and would be willing to ship, that’s great too. Either way, the people that join to win it will appreciate it. When you receive your prize, post a thank you to the thread where you won it. The thread will be locked after that point so the new **KARMA** stays above it. Good luck, and have fun!

  4. dam right Mark, i flayed that kite probably 20 times and i learned a lot from but after that the center panel just ripped of in mid fly. i used the general shape and spares to build myself a new and bit bigger one and surprisingly is acting really good in 2-5 mph And by the way this is mi daughter VW Beetle

  5. The newer models, like the Djinn, have improvements to the panel design, bridle and other features than have over time been shown to improve performance, as well as improvements/reinforecements that have been shown to reduce wear. Many of the original and older designs have not yet begun to put these improvements into their kites. The less expensive kites are known to have panels designed to look good instead of performing well, lower grade materials, inconsistent sewing and poor quality construction overall. Ask Edmond about the first quad kite he ever owned. He got a really good price, but not much else. The less expensive kites may also have lower weave density lines which will bind more quickly in less spins. You get what you pay for. Your VW Beetle will not perform like a Mustang, and the Mustang will not perform like a Ferrari. The problem is when you pay for less than a Mustang and get much less than a Beetle.

  6. opps! you're missing one of the true master class quad-lined builders from your list, Eliot (the Shook Mesh) ~ Flying Smiles Kites, he's made like about 300 of 'em for at least 500 USD ea and they are worth every penny, ask any owner!

  7. You might be crazy. Lol. If one line has severely been twisted it would shorten the overall length of the line. I haven’t seen this with kite lines before but in theory it could happen. Almost every kite I’ve bought that came with lines they were not equal. I’ve seen on multiple occasions the lines being 6 inches or more off. I make my own lines now from 900 to 1000 foot spools of line. I recommend staking the lines and getting the twists out of them. Then equalize them by untying the knots and moving the sleeving down on the longer one until they are equal. Good luck.

  8. Anthony, my Solus has become my favorite standard trick kite. After it's trip out to the west coast to visit you, and then the gradual trip back east by the way of the Skyburner shop, I learned to fly it the way it wants to be flown. It still has a lot to teach me, but I enjoy every minute of flying it. Not to mention the XXL, it's an excellent kite as well. I can't wait to fly the Tica 2020, I'm just having a hard time deciding on the colors. The stock red/black/white is hot, but I'm not done playing with the colorizor...

  9. There are folks in Alaska that fly whenever the weather lets them. if you are worried about cold! No, you don't want to be slamming stuff into the ground at those temps, but decent flying all year round is not out of the question. We even have a New Year's Day Fly up here in Portland OR!

  11. But in all seriousness, it depends on the material type and age.
