Stack Management and Transport

@Chris Shultz is a straight kite pimp, one of the true "warrior class" kite fliers IMHO - he's got about 30 years of experience, 27 or so on those same kites. -
Looking forward to practiced examples.

I've done both catch and throw with a double stack of 1.5's on normal length train lines, there are a couple of photos by John Chilese (from Kite Party) wandering around... The throw when I did it right, caused the two kites to separate and fly out to the end of the lines like a bi-plane, actually increasing hang time. The catch is much trickier, basically requiring a quick catch of the first kite and fluid pass off to the lower hand, in time to reach back up for the second kite with the lead hand - alternatively, I caught low (1st) kite with my left (also holding both handles) and high kite with my right, like snap-snap.

And please add the info to your original post, merci! -
At worst, post a short YouTube video and folks here can diagnose based on that.

Wayne, knowledgeable as we may be from a flier standpoint, neither of us can claim insight into why the green trim problems happened... Material sourcing, baking process, resins, quality of carbon, we can only guess - in this, they do know more.
-
Aye, roughly the same spacing (I read 7-8 stitches per inch is the max), straight line... I sew continuously, the entire perimeter of each wear strip (same with the tabs). The tension is really tricky with the Insignia tape, you'll definitely want to run some tests - someone here may even have a bag of scraps they'd be willing to send, make a separate post about it.
-
They're not made of glass... If the wind is light-ish, try them - black race is awesome. Rubbing is racing anyway, gotta try to know.
-
Yep, here's hoping. Sure sounds like it Wayne, maybe we're in for better days.
-
Sorry, realized my earlier thought was incomplete - Insignia is adhesive... That being said, I still sew mine down because I want to arrest all STRETCH along that line (a far worse issue than actual wear). Also, alignment is really important... You'll want to be sure that when assembled, the bunji knots at the top of the vertical spars are both on the logo side of the spar (toward the middle of the kite, not the wingtips) to get correct alignment.
-
Indeed, *unless* they have actually resolved the flex (and breakage) issues - fingers crossed, for all of us.
-
Sigh... I'm not confident asking Rev anything about their rods because frankly, they haven't shown product knowledge in relation to a flier's needs in quite a while - maybe they've resolved this behavior, but I don't know. You will find, if you look... Black Race rods (original, no green TRIM around the label) Black Race rods (new, green band on either side of the label) Green Race rods (the whole rod is green) Which did you get?

I use Guterman's thread, pretty sure it's Polyester - same stuff Bazzer uses. Location of the tabs is important, should be able to recreate from photos. Aye, between the existing stitch and the actual edge - side by side, not overlapped. The material is 1" Insignia tape... I run the thread through a tiny sponge with a drop of sewing machine oil in it when I do the wear strips, as well as cleaning the needle with Goo-Be-Gone when it shows accumulation.
