Incunabula Wright Brothers 1899 Kite for sale
John Barresi replied to Chuck Lohre's topic in Kites for Sale, Swap or Trade
Saw one on display at the Smithsonian, it's kind of like the original quad line kite ('cept the handles are upside down - top and bottom reversed from handle to kite). -
Congrats dr!

A hero's journey. -
Join us for two full days of hard core TEAM quad instruction with Team KiteLife members John Barresi and Brett Marchel at the Munson Soccer Fields near Detroit MI on September 24-25, 2016. Location - https://goo.gl/maps/iszmxLfeQzT2 NOTE: This event has been reformatted - intermediate fliers or better only, focus will be on team flying and certain skills are required including basic hovers, figure 8 flight and fundamental speed control. Saturday morning we'll have a rountable about team philosophy and dynamics, this covers a metric ton of stuff that even the "pros" think they know, but don't... Then we'll break up into two teams (led by Brett and John), rotating students between the two groups to work on team maneuvers and basic skill improvements, then we'll do a mega fly to close out the day, wind allowing. Sunday will be more of the same, turned up few notches. Ideal choice of equipment for this class is any model of Revolution 1.5 (includes EXP, SLE, B-Series, printed specials, etc) - we'll go through painless equipment set up, good tuning and all aspects of flight - the goal here is to demystify quad flying and set you up to win. Students will use their own kites, 120' length is REQUIRED for all team exercises. Must be Skybond or spectra lines for team flying. Testimonials - http://tinyurl.com/jb-testimonials Registration is $175 per person and includes full access to the clinic on both days (10a-4p), a discounted rate of $150 is available to KiteLife subscribers. KiteLife subscription info - http://join.kitelife.com Please note, there are only 8 2 spots available. Sign up link: http://kitelife.com/forum/store/product/22-motor-city-quad-clinic-sep-24-25-2016/ RSVP'd so far: @ru4camping @roger tompkins @Jason R @Vern Balodis @stapp59 @Landon Hope to see you there!

The only active patent on Rev products is the Reflex "spring" technology, all other patents (kite and handles both) expired many years ago. FYI.

Full day dedicated to learning our way around short line (30') quad line flying - focus on tuning, basic "holding patterns" to maintain flight with minimal effort, 360s, up and over, catch and throw, variable and no wind conditions. Light / variable wind flying in urban environments IS possible without a great deal of effort after you've got a handle on the fundamentals - then you can fly anywhere, even your front yard or in a local courtyard. We only have space for SIX students this time around, this is a one day semi-informal gathering at Overlook Park in Portland, OR... Registration is $100 per person, discounted to $75 for KiteLife subscribers. Location - https://goo.gl/maps/NH7rr46qrDw Video from the same location... Students should come equipped with 30 foot lines - 50# Skybond is preferred, but 90#/100# or LPG is acceptable... You'll also do best with a STD 1.5 size Revolution kite equipped with 2 wrap, black race or diamond rods, it could also be useful to have mid-vent but it's rarely needed. Visualize a square 40% the size of your window, straight center window. Hover facing right in the top left corner. Clockwise traveling bicycle to the top right corner of the square, finalizing the rotation as you once again face right (hover). Clockwise traveling bicycle to the bottom right corner of the square, finalizing the rotation as you once again face right (hover). Anti-clockwise traveling bicycle to the bottom left corner of the square, finalizing the rotation as you once again face right (hover). Anti-clockwise traveling bicycle to the top left corner of the square, finalizing the rotation as you once again face right (hover). Kite rotates 360 degrees as it travels from one corner to another, timing the rotation to end just as you arrive on the corner (of your square). One leg at a time, slowly reducing the pause at each corner until you fluidly "bounce" off into your next leg. Experiment with: - Size of the square reference - Speed of travel - Speed of rotation - Breaking rotations up into two parts - More or less rotations between each corner - Traveling clockwork (instead of spin) - Other corner references, like octagon, diamond, etc Its very doable, just a matter of identifying the rings of the ladder and putting them all together.

Locking this one down, new drawing is up!

Everything I can see is very clean! The kite flier in me really wants to see what the kite is doing just before you pull it down, while it's off screen,... That tells me as much as watching the flier.
