  1. Hahahaha... Sandman, for equality's sake... Remember, personal preference rules all, above and beyond... The 1.5 is the most commonly flown Rev in the US, and probably 80% of the fliers have knots on both top and bottom. I've been on Revs for 14 years, flown all types, and have bagged my share of championships in quadline... "My way" isn't necessarily the right way, but it works well and is time-tested.
  2. Haha! You've made my day Steve. I'm very glad to hear the article was of use to you... My pleasure to help any way I can. Glad to hear Brookings is on schedule too!
  3. Wow... Egan's Tricks Party video from SASKC has seen 1,111 viewings in the last 9 days, as it was added before the 1st of the month! My own video from the same event was added on the 2nd, two days into the month... And it's seen 580 viewings, roughly half as many. http://kitevideo.net/video_files/tpi/saskc...ndavis1stTP.wmv (9.93 MB download) http://kitevideo.net/video_files/tpi/saskc...arresi3rdTP.wmv (11.73 MB download) Absolutely amazing Egan!

  6. A side note... Your bottom lines will never be longer than your top lines, so in truth, you only need the mutliple knot system (longer leaders) on the top of your handles and a single (short) pigtail for attaching lines on the bottom of your handles. I see people with multiple knots on both top and bottom (Monkey!), it just makes me shake my head... Totally unecessary, and it just confuses the task at hand.
  7. Don't forget, all even-length lines... All adjustments made from the handles.
  8. Nice thing about Revs... You can get one sail, then swap frames in and out with absolute ease! For the Rev I, I'd also recommend the "SUL" handles... They're a tad longer than the standard Rev I handles, giving more control. Monks, didn't you cover the different handles in one of your REVisions articles?
  9. I was disappointed to turn this one down, since Spring Fling is also on the same weekend... Committed to the team, and NWSKL events.
  10. Sedgwick Series Rev I... Best Rev ever made, bar none. Photo snatched from Milking the Breeze 2, an article I wrote about light wind Rev flying. http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue40/l...ind40/index.htm
  11. I think it comes down to one thing... 1. Do you want to FLY... 2. Or do you want POWER... The Blast will give you big pull, and lots of power... But limited control. The Rev I will deliver control, and more to do in the long term.
  12. Not necessarily the wrong way... For sure, get comfortable first. You can do all that stuff on a 1.5, it's just that the Rev I is more docile, EVER so much more precise and forgiving. But, the 1.5 is where you want to be while you're still beating up the kite. Once you're beyond "crash stage", the Rev I will lead you by the hand into much more precision and control.
  13. I was on a 2 wrap... Regular frame is 4 wrap. If you get a Rev I, you'd generally want a 4 wrap frame... NOT the SLE that they traditionally sell it with (far too stiff). My suggested wind ranges for framing... 4 wrap w/SLE leading edge: 15-30 4 wrap frame: 5-20 mph 3 wrap frame: 3-14 mph 2 wrap frame: 0-8 mph
  14. Hi ant, Here are a few articles that you might find useful... In no particular order. Remember though, you never have to take it as seriously as some of these articles imply... But there is tons of good information to be found here. http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue30/h...eam03/index.htm http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue34/tirades34/index.htm http://www.kitelife.com/archives/JUNE1998/balladof.htm http://www.kitelife.com/archives/SEPT991/team.htm http://www.kitelife.com/archives/JUNE1998/team.htm http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue29/m...pay03/index.htm http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue31/tirades31/index.htm http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue32/tirades32/index.htm http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue40/tirades40/index.htm http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue41/tirades41/index.htm http://www.kitelife.com/archives/issue42/tirades42/index.htm And of course, if you have further questions about anything you read there... Let us know!
  15. Sandman... Great example of Rev I abilities: http://kitevideo.net/johnbarresi_com/jb-promo05_revplay.wmv (31.74 MB download)
  16. I'm pretty fond of the Sweety myself, mainly because of the stiffer frame.
  17. No Aerostuff on this one... Standard. Fury'd take you out of your shoes in that kind of wind! LOL
  18. No limit on the number of subscriptions a person can have.
