  3. Don't know a thing except reading about them. Web surfed on them last night and like what I've found. Made up my mind to have a custom ul or sul. If we're looking a the same thing please buy the silver one so I don't!! My budget can"t afford both .
  4. In the mean time that's what my micron can teach me. Small inputs. The only reference I have is nighthawk to widow. The nighthawk seems more able to recover from hard inputs (not from intent but lack of skill) the widow just gets confused and goes away. Usually to the ground!! Last time the 6 year old was getting a little frustrated. This will help. Lots to think about from 1 sentence . Thanks.
  5. After you post something and then ya get a someone reacted notice from the little bell. Went out this morning in 20 plus on 100 ft 150 lb.on a 1.4 snapshot. Went up couldn't handle the pull right back down. Couldn't tell a difference due to fear factor. I really want to get my widow up on the 65 ft 90 lb, Under 10 I'm hoping to see what I'm doing a little better. Finally starting to push instead of pull in a panic. It"s funny every tutorial shows us how and our bodies go augh and totally ignore the physics.

'I believe the spot of glue would be for the bungee to clip. Didn't think about gluing the clip because of it being so close to the spine. I'm guessing if to much reinforcement can end up with spine problems. A little is probably the right way.Rather buy another tube and apparently I'll be buying more tubes!! I'd sure like to take my grand kids to 1 of his flight classes. I'd just be a semi interested observer right LOL. When he comes to Colorado next maybe he'll give a class. For the grand kids of course. I think I've seen an HQ kite kite still using the rubber band lower spreader thing a ma jig thingy. Don't think it even has a tee Wayne.Single rod with twist at spine. Think it's newer cause it was pricey.
  7. I think I get it. If the wind starts gusting 3 to 4 outside get to leeward side of house or barn. So as the pressure increases without relief trying to hold a light wind kite stable without release twitchy. The flex helps in the release so tricky. Stiffer frame like inak a little less tricky ? 4d more robust, stiffer and durable with less time to load and dump equals more twitchy? So maybe next level of stiffness for upper and lower spreader for 30 ft light line up to 4 or 5 mph? Want 2 kites in 1 lol. Seems like this will be less intimidating for the younger grand kids to start getting the dynamics of flight. My son and myself included!! It will be fun just to toss back and forth like a glider.
  8. On bucket list #1 kite fest. #2 kite fest. #3 Kite fest. This stuff is just awesome !!!
  9. Hey this is pretty naive but what is this reacted to stuff and it's purpose?

Talked to Fun with wind a few minutes ago. Parts back ordered till Fri. Sigh. Fella suggested a c-clip on both tubes with a bungee connection to hold tension on the lower spreader. Cause I'll probably do it again . Brilliantly simple. What a fun guy .
  11. Thanks Wayne. One stop shopping at AWOC a plus. Have learned a lot on their site.
  12. Sitting here the last 7 days in 0 to 6 winds. I need a light wind kite without a doubt!! Passed on the 4d and into the wind kites.Reviewers have said more often than not that those kites are twitchy. Kinda get what that means but no experience to know. Everyone who has gone to a niknak or inak were glad they did. Then I watch RobB and others fly the 4d !! Really how long before I'd learn enough to know the difference. Reason returns save save and lessen the regrets regrets. Watched the videos a few times and the 10 mph gust makes me believe kaiju would handle gusts up to 8 all the time. Plus I could twirl around in my barn. Plus It's good looking .Plus the name is one of the coolest. Plus I know who to complain too. Plus when I'm whining about the kite behaving people here will remind me it's not the kite stupid!! Jan thru march we will have very few calm days so the wait won't be to bad. I'll take the purple one with the pink polka dots .
  13. Thanks can't wait to see one.
  14. White with blue is just fine too !!! Awesome!!! Where does kaiju compare to niknak/lnack and level one amazed indoor/outoor?
  15. Maybe this low wind sitting around is starting to make me over think with very little experience to come to logical conclusions. I do know this. Dragging my lines around the pasture getting stuck in weeds and grasses is bad!! Can not use the fifties outside my yard. Yard is a 1/2 acre and with a low wind kite will be a really good space. My best trick is still the nose dive. As that gets less entertaining won't be such an issue but still an issue. Buying in bulk from china gets me the same stuff. Shanti and the like pricey. Chopping up new 120 or 150 seems a bit drastic to me. Climax Protec or Q pro in 500' 65 lb, 90 lb and 150 lb cutting as wanted seems a good way to learn. Still haven't found a place to get that stuff . Still haven't used my 100' 150 lb set either. That'll be fun. Looking forward to feeling the difference between the cheap and the good. Heck if it wouldn't have been for all you people sharing knowledge and opinions I'd have stayed happy not knowing, not knowing .
  16. Thanks that makes perfectly simple sense. I'm' going to replace the lines on a widow ng soon. Was thinking 100 ft would help quicken the learning curve.Makes sense that the additional lag time won't do that. My 90 lb are actually 65 ft not 82. I'll try that when my lower spreader is repaired.
  17. What a strange beast !! I mean the kite. If I got a black lime one could I name it Mothra . The name should stand the test of time . Very cool.
  18. Get to go out in a few minutes. Practicing. Inhale exhale repeat. DO NOT HOLD BREATH TILL FALLING DOWN !! Hoping for success.
  19. Been playing in 0 to 6 mph last 2 days with my nighthawk. Tried 50 lb x 50 ft line set. Not much success . Kept tipping on it's nose trying to launch. Adjusted nose to farthest point and made it worse. Kite has p 200 lower spreader and P 300 upper. Nose isn't as reinforced as my widow and am real leery of removing it. Did it on the widow and not good enough see a difference but it has p 300 in both spots. Fly in a pasture and the weeds will really tear up those fifties if I keep trying them. I'm more relaxed learning in these low winds. It's harder but the crashes have been a lot easier. There's no one around so the walk of shame is not so shameful. Don't think I'll ever try the widow below 5 or 6 mph again. Wasn't made for that anyway. The nighthawk has a lot more flex so I'll continue low winds with it. Don't have the proper stuff yet for low wind but I'd rather be frustrated walking to the kite than not flying. 35 ft x 65 lb line set ?
  20. If you have a crowd at the beach watching and your kite hard turns all by itself into the pier look quickly into the crowd. Some will be roaring with laughter ,some walking quickly away others just hopelessly staring. Look for the ones with tears in their eyes. Run to them with all haste. They're the kite flyers. They'll help you fix it.
  21. Been using 50 lb x 50 ft and 90 lb x 82 ft last 2 days. Don't care for the 50. They came with a micron but I am going to save them for sul use. Tried them on a nighthawk in low wind. Not enough talent yet for success. Thinking 100 ft 65 lb cut down to 35 ft for nighthawk low wind 65 ft to calm the micron a bit. After using the nighthawks lines and comparing my 150 lb x 80 ft widow ng lines I think the 150's are inferior. On light wind days going to use the 90's on the widow. Don't see a need for short set on it. Was thinking 150 lb x 100 ft of high end stuff. After reading this I realized most experienced fliers on a lot of posts recommend the 80 to 85 . Why? Don't know what high end line stuff is either. Yet

I'm approaching kite flying like music.Once you learn the language the technical becomes fun. Without the the fun the technical doesn't translate to knowledge for me. I think kiting is going to be a lot like music . It's better when ya got yer groove on.
  23. Yup would have never believed that kites could be worth so much till now. Having to explain cost of repairs on my barely flown new toy kinda broke the ice. Lot cheaper than fixing that motorcycle racing transmission I once needed err wanted so badly. I have patching material coming soon. Hoping I never have to use it but waiting a week for a simple repair sucks.
  24. Agree I was a lot more relaxed first time on nighthawk than on widow. Widow should be back up Tuesday and It's going to be more fun having my 1st repair done. Sure are a lot of I wants out there though. If I didn't have another kite I would have spent 4 hours 52 minutes and $24.36 in gas going to Boulder Co. for a $10.00 part. Yes I do have the mileage figured just in case !!
