  1. The 2 that get the most airtime are my iFlite II and my Frigate (a Skate type) gliders!! They come out when I need a break from the Rev!! Lots depends on the length of session - if short, it's mostly the Rev - if long, then I take the time to setup several gliders to break up the session!!
  2. Sorry I don't get pix, but on Mondays and Wednesdays I fly indoors at my soccer field! Mostly my Indoor Rev, but several different gliders get used too! Glide on!!
  3. I use either 90# or 150# bridle line, but it only comes in white (LPG) ! Might be able to find other stuff, Nick (Reef Runner) might have a lead!!
  4. Unless something comes up, I will usually go both the 12th and 14th, Mon + Wed! The field opens up to us after school lets out, it's available up to 5 afternoons a week! With festival season coming up, I may go outside more with a team mate, but our usual spot is a school field, not available til school lets out!! Inland winds are always a crapshoot, rather go to the beach, but also have to take my dog into consideration, lots of extra stuff to drag around! We usually have a rule all summer - no wind, inside! Windy, outside!
  5. Think it has to do with the size of file?? The other 2 formats are much smaller for an ipod to accept!!
  6. My internet connection is very slow, so I only did the .mov or .mp4 versions, and they went directly to my itunes library, as well as my download file! If I'd have tried to download the bigger files, I'd still be waiting!! No issues with quality of picture!!
  7. Got itunes?? Download to your laptop or desktop computer, then sync to your pad or screened ipod. They all show up in my itunes library, after downloading!! PS: not real computer savvy, but I get by!
  8. Pretty simple mod that is, I used it for many years, eliminates ( or lessens) the chance of snagging a line, by getting rid of those rings! As was said, the "no-snags" might be lighter, but modding what you already have is really cheap!! I think there's a video of it on the Rev forum or YouTube by Watty using the "Stone in Shoe Bob" method!!
  9. Sometimes it's an AW SH#T,.what just happened!!
  10. Never said replace the gliders - I own and fly plenty of them!! Just a magical connection to my Indoor is all! Sometimes I'd rather fly it than my outdoor gear, it's that inspiring!! Here where the wind is iffy at best, indoors is constantly the same - you provide it!!
  11. Ian - have you tried it indoors? I know it sounds crazy, but that is where it really shines - inside!! I learned just about everything I know from JB's tutorials on indoor - the footwork, handwork, letting the kite glide, waiting for it to finish something before going to the next move, etc! It's really the element it was designed for! Give it a proper chance!!
  12. Rob - do you suggest just tightening it some (leech line)?? Maybe enough to keep it from buzzing? Isn't that buzzing hard on the trailing edge?
  13. Getting some converts I see!!! Next up - an Indoor Rev for all you "gliders" out there! Funny thing about indoor flying - it will improve your outdoor touch! You develop a "wait for it" mentality with good indoor! It all starts to slow down and you start to realize how little movement is needed to keep up with things!! Or to keep things UP!! Enjoy!!!
  14. I always flew the "Z"s predecessor, the Ozone, on 50' x 50# lines! Found that if it was light enough winds to use that kite, well it was light enough for those lines! Still use it now and then ( don't tell the REV police - SHHH!)! Light, big, will fly when a lot of others are sitting watching!
  15. Don't think they are made anymore, but for light winds I used a set of handles made from small ball shapes with line for connecting your flying lines!! Used to let the lines go between my index and middle fingers and just hold the ball shaped handles!! Found it really promoted a light touch! Sorry no pic, but my computer skills are iffy at best!!
  16. That is kind of what I am finding out. I keep waiting for the winds to improve as time goes on, but I am starting to think that " It is what it is". CB - you're understanding it!! You just have to go out and learn to fly in the conditions at hand!! Wait for perfect winds and you'll be doing just that - waiting!! Figuring out how, in less than perfect, will gain you more in the long run! Sure might seem annoying now, but learning to handle less than perfect winds - PRICELESS!!
  17. I saw the (1/8th") and didn't see/notice the "tube" in there!! But it does show how small and light the sticks are overall!! Using the bigger rods for sticks should throw your weight off considerably!!
  18. Between here and the Rev forum, there is a very healthy group of fliers in the UK. Your best bet would be to hook up with them, ask to fly some stuff, and make a more educated decision on your own needs! Biggest thing is that they can really help you learn quicker, and at the same time explain what equipment does what, when, how!! I suggest a meet up!!!! PS: over on the Rev forum, this has been talked about ad nauseam, check out the many threads on what to buy, what terms mean, etc., then if you still have questions - bring 'em on!! revkites.com gets you to the home page and selecting forums will bring you to that!!
  19. One link doesn't show the stick's diameter and the other isn't going through! Darn!! I think I have it downloaded and saved in my docs somewhere! I'll look and post if I find them! Earlier in the Rev thread, he did mention 1/8" rods though!!
  20. I am guessing that the LE heavy condition is caused from using fairly large rods for the sticks! If I remember correctly, kits or other made sticks use a small (1/8") rod for the rear spar! I would try a smaller rod before I got too wild in moving them a bunch! Paul L. had a diagram on the Rev forum, describing how to make them, I'll see if I can find it and verify the size stick he used!! Found his directions, hope this transfers: http://revkites.com/forum/uploads/monthly_07_2011/post-92-131168046501.jpg Another diagram: http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_id=8434
  21. Any good quality Spectra line will be compatible with another maker's line! At WSIKF last year, people flying Skybond were right in the middle of the record 81 kite fly! But remember the team length is 120', that is universal!! Personally I have sets of - 30', 50', and 120' in 50# ; 30', 80', and 120' in 90# ; and a 120' x 150# line set for hurricanes!!
  22. LPG is the choice for us West Coast fliers and I don't see any signs of it not being made anymore! A lot depends if you want store bought sets or will make your own! If you make your own, then Shanti makes 2 lines that work - Speed line and Skybond. And you can get LPG to make some if you want! Store bought, most go for the LPG, but online you'll find several different brands available! Pretty much anything made from Spectra fiber will work and be compatible with other lines! No Dacron!!! Are you looking to get the same length or something else??
  23. Individual feel thing really! I had long leaders with many knots made for the kite end of my attachment points! Changing at the kite side, lets me keep my handle end feeling consistent in my hands! Nothing ever changes there! I've found a pretty regular knot setting I use 95% of the time! Sometimes I change it for room dynamics if I need more drive or brake! Neutral? For me - yes! For JB - probably not! It really is a feel thing, you find what works for you! Most new Indoors need a little more flex for the LE, they come a little too straight for most, but that again is personal choice! Best to set it up next to another to compare LE flex! Characteristics - I look for a "floaty" feeling, others something else! The LE bend seems to make the kite float more in the inverted position!
  24. You might get away with tubes pulled from the center bridle loop! I'm thinking a bit too much pull off the vert bungees! I've run long flat tails off the verts and center, but mostly off the center! '
