  1. Oh my gosh, there's Jynx! I thought about her a few days ago! Naturally! I remember the word news came from the words North East West South. Ok, I'm done with off topic! I've messed with long lines but now 25 paces feel right. You do the long long long long lines because you can, but there is really nothing out there as far as feeling between you and the kite. What's the record for quad line length? You need people in between to help you get it up! I've heard that before!

No biggie on this one, as I made it back home yesterday. Now I can get back into flying/mowing/now riding. Now I'm thinking about a back pack to use with the bikes, I have no clue about back packs, maybe someone knows something about back packs in this lifestyle area of the forum. Keep in mind, when I was a kid, there was rocks and squeaks, later there was hippies, there was no such thing as back packs. I don't want to add accessories to the bikes, but I might want to bring home some groceries like eggs and milk once in awhile. And don't want to scratch paint hauling that stuff. Maybe even carry a rev 1.5 sized kite without attaching it to the bike. I'm not into travel frames, I just do want to attach anything to the bikes.

I just said heck with it and bought a few motorcycles. the Kawa is new and the HD is used. Both are between 647cc and 883cc. I don't get kicks like buying new toys too often so this is my big moment of confusion and pride. Until I hand over the cash and haul them home I'll be shakin' in my boots you might say. Now I'm asking myself where am I going to go with these bikes? I love flying my kites at home! Is there any folks that fly around the Berkley Springs area of WV tomorrow evening? I'd love to fly witcha tomorrow afternoon/eve. But I'll still need to head NW afterwards. Just a thought.
  4. As Mr. Eastwood once said "Man's got to know his limitations". This past winter season I've seen snow in Oct through May, that leave only 4 months without seeing snow this year. Today it's going to be 92 and 5 - 12mph winds out of the south. I put a few slk's back in the air by 6:30am from laying on the ground or flying since this weekend. I'll get a rev out after a few hours of mowing, then bring everything in before the rain hits this evening. The biggie is, from the rev to my kitchen is about a 24 second walk or a 30 second walk to the bathroom or pc or tv. Moderation is very important when you're doing anything, especially in adverse weather conditions, but we all know that, I've past out in the heat before, well started to black out and dropped to my knees but that was low bp. It's hard to put those lines down and take a break, will I over do it again, most likely. If I have learned in my first 65 years I'm sure I'm not going to learn in my next 65!
  5. Just put a kite up in the sky. There's not enough people flying to the right music! An 11' delta I launched earlier is now looking like a black hole in the sky. I love what little heat I get. But get out there and fly! Heck with the heat! Once you're out there the heat seems to vanish! And Becomes you and the kite!
  6. There's a few good reasons to, write off, revopolo kites.
  7. I'm not sure how the standard sails fly, the three I have are tucked away. The two I rarely fly, not even this year are the Revopolo mid-vent and the vented, both fly very smooth and have the weight to fly with 2wrap and black race frames. The Revopolo's I have are labeled as "original" as it was the first color combo. The Revopolo is a wave of the past, I just visited their website, now they have 180 different choices. I think the wave of the future has been covered for awhile now. People like seeing revs fly or teams flying, and they want to do the same, many people can't afford high end kites, some people, like me, can't even sew a button on a shirt, no less make a kite, so the next best thing is to buy an EXP or 1.5.
  8. I know my eyes are the same as even last year, but I saw that kite in the LB Clinic topic and I see it was a mid-vent but in the picture where the kites are staked down, there it looks like one vertical panel was white and the other black, In this topic the vertical panels look blue or with my eyes looked like I was seeing through the mesh at the sky. But all and all I'm sure the more forward you put into the leaders on the handles the more bend you would get across the leading edge, just as the less forward you put into the leaders the straighter the leading edge will become. In theory I guess.
  9. I saw the leading up to the attempt, but I side tracked. If you do it by the book things go mostly right, there is always the oops part that distracts you from the perfect formula. He was probably dressed well enough to glide into his target. The interesting part of his decent was half the trip had no O2 in nature for him to breathe.
  10. The kite on the left looks full vent to me.
  11. I'm picturing and laughing, Shane going out the first day with his Rev Reflex and the loyalists all wanting to try out his kite for the first time and being kite flyer friendly and all. And the next day he brings out his Freilein and the Rev loyalists bring out their green race rods and beat the poor guy with them! OUCH!
  12. Seems like someone would have answered ShaneR's original question in his topic about flying in San Diego on August 12th weekend. Maybe someone can at least suggest a place to fly alone while he's in SD. I'd give you some ideas where to fly but I'm about 2800 miles away from that area.
  13. Knot covers? One bungee 2 knots? Says who? How about one bungee with no knots? Covers are for whatnots. I mean covers for what knots? There isn't anything in the rule books about "must use 2 knots" How about like the ponytail bungees no knots!. Just use shrink tubing, a hog ring and hog ring pliers. How often are those bungees adjusted anyways? But when it does need adjusting, just remove the hog clip and pull more of the same bungee to retighten the sail, clip off the excess bungee after re-hog clipping and heat shrink just where the hog clip meets itself. You can also put the vertical behind the bungee once the bungee starts stretching out and get extra miles on it before retightening the sail.
  14. The linesets I fly with are 75' to under 80' and use 13" handles, mostly. An 8stack of rev2's maybe 200# or less can be max. I never had the opportunity to fly a stack of 8 rev2's. I dislike flying with 68' or under. You'll know what's right for you, soon enough, try 75'.
  15. Now now, I know you're too good with the ability to spell and rarely make a typographical error! And I know you're not talking about applying more cleaning, flowing or purifying agent to metal during soldering. Is there a bitter taste going on? A sour note? No, Really, It was an honest mistake!
  16. I would think doing a fair amount of urban flying the, what are actually thread protector caps are a must. Also, these caps made from flexible vinyl, chemical resistant rubber, High temperature flexible vinyl, high temperature rubber or even fda listed vinyl all have different durometer scores, the lower the number the better the grip on hard surfaces like glass, the rubber ones would have the best grip. Once you plant the kite down on its tips the kite will almost lock into place, not slide all over as it would with just the plastic end caps. I can picture planting a rev solidly on a window of a building on its tips with the chemical resistant rubber caps which is the softest ones. About the same as landing a rev in the sand on it's tips. But there goes that off topic stuff again.
  17. Sounds like high wind and over braking, for now if one side is flipping over more than the other side you can compensate by making the side that flips over longer by moving your foot forward on the opposite of the flipping side, cocking you body a little sideways making that lineset a bit longer from you to the kite, sounds like you're fine with second time out. Just hope for slower winds tomorrow. You'll learn to flip/ bowtie the kite as needed later. I like the snake vs. baby bird idea of handling.
  18. Got it, the brightness the lime turned the gold a little more earthy than the actual color.
  19. I'm interested in the color combination of the rest of this kite, the brown? dark gold? deep tan? looks like a color I haven't seen other than special applications. Looks cool. As far as the unscheduled landings, the leading edge hitting the ground will usually have much more force than the ability to hit the ground with the bottom of the verticals, but they make for good dust caps preventing or slowing sand/dust from entering the end caps. I'd like to see the rest of the kite now that I've seen those to colors together.

I really don't want any likes or dislikes from any one, to me it's like a scoring system, I appreciate your thought, but I more so appreciate you being away from home for me. Thank You!

You know, You know, besides that, you know! You're having a blast, they're not! You can not not spread the fun!
  22. When I'm actually talking about 43+m wing I'm really talking about 500 square feet of sail area! I really think of it as a kite, not my concern if it has 68hp behind it! It's a kite!
  23. I mentioned awhile back about powered parachutes. This is why I bought my land here. I was into ppc's years before buying my kite flying land. Wow! back in the day we was talking about jumping out but never did that stupid stunt! I just looked on the internet and people are actually jumping out! That's why I live here, that's why I don't need a bag of kites to go elsewhere. I even looked at the one video and it was 5000', not flying for awhile I thought 7500'+ To me it's still kiting. I don't like wasting money looking at video's on line, but this is the flying part of me, including kites. And I'm a big time Rev kite flier! I don't know if anyone got to see this but, I'm still 20 from the neck up!
