  1. Hello everyone. It's good to be back in here, (but don't tell Steve I'm here at 3 AM) I've been busy, sick and sicker. Mexico was marvelous. Hopefully you'll be able to read more about it. Then I returned to the Flu, the sinus's and a week in the hospital. No!, none of it was from Mexico and even though Steve got the flu, I did not. Lincoln City is next week, so I got out of the hospital just in time. I can't find my list of who's coming yet, but we'll get it on here. I'm so excited. We have somewhere between 3 and 5 teenagers flying in the show. I wish I had the words to explain how I feel about the kids getting into the indoor flying. Yeah! Woo hoo! Yippee! RAh Rah! The show is titled "Mystic Canyon"and it sounds like the Parks have outdone themselves. I'll try to add more about it, but for now I better try to get back to sleep. After it's all said and done, laying my head on my husbands lap for a nap when I came home from the hospital is even better then kites. BB Penny ~ Who hopes everyone is doing well.
  2. I'll bet you have many years of happy kite flying. Great read. Welcome and enjoy! BB Penny ~who shows her age when she says a skynasoar... that was a little bent. lol Maybe that explains us, Rick.
  3. Hi Watty, #2 best describes what I am trying to do. I was wondering if my lines are too short and if it would work better with a 90# line set. I have been told that the 90# lines when wrapped side one each other better then a 50# line set. I don't know if this is true or not. By your response it looks to me that a 360 spin is possible as discribed in the #2 response above. I tried today for about 30 minutes and could not control the kite after the 360 spin. I will try again tomorrow and pay close attention to keeping equal line tension on all four lines. What do you think about changing to a 90# line set? RescueRev I've actually never used a 90 lb set indoors... At the time when I got my indoor line sets, I just went with whatever sounded more fitting for indoors, and I bought some bulk 50lb Shanti Speed, and made all the indoor line sets I have today. After the spin, when does the kite do? Does it sort of lose it's power and sort of float out of the sky? This may happen if you try to make the spin to go too quick. As with going backwards, some air will get behind the sail and cause all of your control to go away. This is why keeping tension on all lines is helpful. When starting out, do a nice slow and controlled spin, then eventually you can build up more and more speed while keeping tension on the lines. When doing a fast spin, you may have to sort of jog backwards to keep your tension on the lines. Hi Watty, Thank you for you inputs, I will try what you are suggesting tomorrow. If I try 90# lines I will let you know how that works out. RescueRev Hi Watty, I did what you suggested and It worked out OK. I learned you haft to have pressure on all four lines like you said to do a 360 and keep flying in the direction you were going. I have managed to do two 360's and keep flying. I also noticed that once you have done a 360 and have that twist in all four lines the inputs to the kite need to be much smaller and that is where I made many errors also. Thanks again for your help. RescueRev Sounds like you are headed in the right direction. Remember whenever you change direction the kite it is at it's heaviest, so a step back, or pulling more with your arms will keep it up. Soon you'll learn to preact for those turns.. as well as a step away to give it the necessary lift. If you pull with your arms, if you don't remember to put them forward again, you will run out of pull. Since I also say you steer with the bottom of your handles try swinging the bottom of your handles more when you want to turn it out of a spin, or other move. Not like windshield wipers, but like a swing.. left to right and get the up in on the bottom of those handles. I could be wrong, but I don't think the weight matters so much on the wraps, but the length sure does. Good luck! BB Penny ~who's glad to be home.
  4. Thank you John, I didn't even think about spam. BB Penny

  6. Hello Dominique, The Rev II vented and non vented are high wind Revs. You can still slow them down and stop them. They are wonderful in high wind, without much pull, but great control. www.revkites.com will have the wind range on it. I'm thinking 8 mph to start. I have seen Rev II's in no wind, so it's all what you work on. Hope this helps. BB Penny
  7. Wow, I just got in here. Congratulations! That's so fantastic. Your ment to fly and you must be living right. BB Penny
  8. More like Rod Guyette's Turbo Jet. The Ramjet was their original model, shaped like a TOTL Spinoff. Ahh yes, and Team Ramjet was thier name. BB Penny ~ who's showing her age.
  9. What a tease! Now I have to go check out this website. -- Ok, I did.. Wow... that is kewl looking. Good luck with the banner project, too. Hopefully you'll keep us informed on it's progress. Now, I've got to get off this computer. Beautiful stuff~ BB Penny ~whose been on the computer and phone for 12 hours to long.
  10. I am so sorry to hear this!!! I know how it feels. Several people have had stolen kites returned. We'll keep our eyes open. BB Penny ~ who needs to make sure all my kites are signed.
  11. Februray 28-Mar 1. 2009 Charles and Dorothy Stewart along with the Restaurant Acapulco are hosting what should prove to be the Isle Blanc, Mexico’s 1st Annual Kite Festival. We'll be flying with the kids from the local orphanage so you know I'm over packing and bringing kids stuff. There is a fund raiser, "Buy a Toy, Give a Smile". It’s always wonderful to fly for a good cause. I am looking forward to seeing a lot of smiles for kites, and my attempt at Spanish. * FREE * A sky with Giant Kites, Stunt Kites, and Kite Boarding Demo’s. A chance to win a kite in the raffle and Children’s Games. Come fly a kite for free! I’ll have a Revolution and UFO as well as Butterflies and Diamond kites. The funny thing is they have *Dependant on wind” on the poster. I ‘m sure they mean just the kiteboarding and giant kites, because you know no wind will not stop us from having a kite festival. Check out the poster; If you have any friends going to Cancun, or that live in the area, please contact them. We'd like to pass the word. We would accept any assistance offered and would love to show what kites can do. Isle Blanc, Feb. 28 – March 1, 2009. We’d love to see you there. BB Penny ~ who's looking forward to being there.
  12. Is that before or after you fly in Long Beach. BB Penny
  13. Awesome Litsong. Very rugged looking terrain. Loved to see the witch was getting a work out. Good foggy area for her to show her green face. BB Penny
  14. Well, only abut 5 more weeks until the Lincoln City Indoor event. I guess it's time to pester the Parks for their idea and music. it's always such a thrill to get their email with this information. I've been practicing and using the treadmill despite a darn blister on my heel. Nothing special, because I can't get into the basket ball court as much as I’d like right now. At least one difficult move from last year is now a piece of cake. You can see on the Tipsy Gypsy video that I attempted it and didn't do as well as I would like. It's the 360 slide and roll around me. Starting the kite inverted, slide it to the right, then 4 -180's behind me, wing tip turns. Back into the slide and do it again.. and again. So it's a slide and wing tip rolls. I could do the first one fine, but I'd loose it on the 2nd one. The secret is to make sure I didn't start the 2nd move until the kite was directly in front of me. It's much better now. My mermaid costumes are almost all complete. I made myself a new one out of sparkly mermaid looking material. Now I have to fix the kite because I can't out sparkle my kite. But first a little winter vacation at Isla Blanca, Mexico... though I hope to not have much rest. Charles and Dorothy Stewart from the East coast are putting up a kite festival and have invited the city and the nearby orphanage to come and check it out. I can't wait. I love flying for a good cause. It will be at Isla Blanca, close to Can Cun. Feb 28 –March 1st. If you are in the area, please stop by. What, you think it couldn't happen? I've been in Columbia, S.America and ran into people I met in Long Beach, WA. I've been to many far away beaches and met people from my home town. Geezer was in Argentina and ran into Mario from Canada. It happens! So if you are in the area, or have friends visiting, please send them our way to say hello and fly a kite or two. I'll attach a picture here and try to post on the calendar as well. Oh, I've joined facebook. what a great way to see what othe people are doing in their lives without getting to overwelmed. All sorts of kitefliers and old friends. If you can, join facebook, and say hello. Have a great week. BB Penny ~ still flying Revs like she means it.
  15. Have fun John, Don't count your time on it as in months or years, but in hours and you will see improvement. BB Penny
  16. Looks like a large version of a Ram Jet kite. I use to park by a Bee that big from a guy out of the Everett area. It was a great place to park. It didn't fly much. Either to much wind, or not enough. BB Penny
  17. Hi, I seldom use 50 lb lines. I prefer heavier, but I"m pretty hard on that kite. I don't sleeve indoor. I've busted 50 lb lines and it wasn't by the sleeving, so I'm not concerned with the fear of it breaking there. Somewhere close to 10 to 12 ft. would probably be the easiest. That's about the length between faster shorter lines and slower longer lines. 12 ft. (not to say that you can't control the speed on any length) Now, you will have people who think that 25 ft. is short, so it sure is going to be personal choice. Enjoy, Next year you will be gving us advice and sharing new tricks. BB Penny ~ who hasn't even had her coffee.
  18. I use short leaders inside and longer outside. And by leaders I mean a slide knot, not knots every 1/2 inch. BB Penny ~Who knows it's whatever it takes.
  19. Hi John, Sounds like you have the desire so your about 50 % there. If I understand you correctly, you are doing a 360 on tip, leading edge facing 3 or 9:00. While you are walking away, your top handle is pulling back more then the your bottom wing, which will tilt the top kite wing towards you- giving it lift. I'm not sure without running it though to double check, but I think it's better to try to take a step back, so you have someplace to pull back for more lift when ever you can, rather then pushing the wing forward so you have a place to pull. Oushing the handle/wing tip foreard can lead to the kite coming down and being heavier. When you go to change direction, take 3 steps in the other direction. It will tighten your lines for the turn and create lift, so it's light and easy. If the kite is going to slow, feels a little to heavy, give it a little more power. Try more forward with the bottom of the handles and try physically powering it around. I'll look forward to seeing you fly. BB Penny ~ Who's ready to fly.
  20. Be sure and check out Watty's new tutorial video on the forum. I tried to do this w/ 2 handles and just couldn't get it back to me. I was probably pulling to hard. Last night I tired it with the single handle and WA LA.. great come back. I could reverse it on about 10 ft. of line and catch it. I wasn't putting the turn in. The kite has to be laying flat for the pulled fade to work. the secret for me ws pulling back on the top handles. Can you believe it's almost the middle of February already? The days are geting longer and we'll be outdoors flying soon. It's time to put events on the calendar. I'll do that as soon as I take care of some other business. We have a few new events and some of the old on the west coast. Now these events are shows, not competions. We should put the dates for the comps up here too. San Ramon, CA Santa Cruz, CA Morro Bay,Ca Ellensburg.WA, Isla of Blan, Mexico, Brookings, OR.. and maybe Port of Bellingham, WA. With competitions and IQuad events added to the calendar the kite season should be a fun filled one. Lisa Willoughby and Paul DeBakker (sp's) are coming to Lincoln City's indoor kite festival in March. Lisa is busy practicing Indoor Rev, and dual.. kick boxing, spinning. jogging. lol All I've got is determination and a blister on my heel from the treadmill. I can't wait to see what Lisa's determination will bring. Well lunch is over. I've joined facebook. Maybe I'll see you on there. BB Penny ~ who's ready to fly.
  21. SWeet!! it looks great Spence. I tried w/ two handles and didnt' get far. After seeing this, I'll have to try again. I was working w/ the single handle last night and I guess it was the fade. I'd to an overhead, pancake out keep a fade and pull it to me swoosh. it's as fast as the guilotene. Looking forward to the next one. BB Penny ~who's looking forward to your videos on guilotene, jumping and more.
  22. The mermaids are coming! The mermaids are coming! My husbands is such a sweetheart. You can imagine what he puts up with sometimes. The last few weeks has had mermaid tails drying in the living room. Their almost done. Maybe 1/2 a dz. more to be on the floor and finished. Here's a pic of their drying. I think the kids (of ALL ages) will really enjoy being mermaids and flying kites. BB Penny ~who barely gets all the sparkle off her hands.
  23. I'm so glad you posted this. What wonderful grace and control. It was nice to sit and watch it with my coffee instead of through a little window outside the door competing with other bumping heads for a view. Do you fly fighters? BB Penny ~ wh's glad it's Wednesday.
