  1. Go for the walker John! You keep running those 360's at your age and your going to need it. Hope it was a good one! Had fun.. oh, Steve is going to Brookings, but says you two should still ride. Sound like a plan? He wants to leave at noon. I have not cleared this whith my boss yet. Which would put us down there between 3-4. Sorry I'm on this forum. So much to do, so little time. BB Penny
  2. Wow, You learn something new every day. I would use the adjustments on my handles to put in a position I want. Do you use those? I'm still in San Ramon..... oh my goodness! We had so much fun. John B showed me around the back of the magazine a little. whoah lots of stuff. Wonderful kite people! Yes, more pictures please! Tks all! BB Penny
  3. Aiyana, you are it. No one else has tried it. Any more info? BB Penny You all know she's working hard, right?
  4. If you make it.... light enough I will fly it. Try tieing one on the top of a banner pole. Now I want to know. You've been aweful quiet, must have your nose to the sewing machine. Have a wonderful day Rick. BB Penny
  5. I have flown them indoors. They take about an hour to get the slow and the less angled handles feeling familiar. I'm not great at it, but I can do a few things. They are beautiuful and mystic looking, as our all Marc's kites. But the Rev. isn't as limited. I also like the fact, when I do a reverse, people can tell I'm doing a reverse. With many of the quads out there, they don't show the difference between top and bottom. Forward and Reverse is not the same. I want people to really be able to tell the difference. I don't know what he calls his cellular tetras style, but that's a kewl indoor single line. Sam Houston won his package at AKA a few years ago, and I got to fly them all at the Sheridan Hotel on New Years Eve for their First Night. They are wonderful, fun, entertaining, and then your done. Back and Forth.... Back and Forth.. but they look great and I enjoy playing with them. Still.. I'm looking around for my Rev. BB Penny
  6. And wouldn't adding a pigtail as a release knot work if you don't use sleeving? Though I agree it would seem like the line would be harder on the bridle. For the record: I use sleeving except for indoors. BB Penny
  7. And I have an eversion (sp) to sewing needles after having one through my finger for several hours. I choose not to deal with the materials or the politics.. I just want to be a kiteflyer. It's a long term goal. I don't charge for the R & D of indoor flying.. I just do it. Actually I probably know a little more then I need to. So are you saying each material will have it's own size square, regardless of the weight of the material? BB Penny
  8. I understand totally Jason. I'm kinda known for kicking mine. Throw's catches, guillotene's.. But the kicks are a little more agressive. I don't sleeve either. Not much need indoors. Thanks for the answer. BB Penny
  9. Whoa.. wrong topic for me. If it' fly's I call it a kite.... BB Penny.... slowly backing out of this topic.
  10. heheh I am getting as much out of being away as I can. I'm crashing at Brian's Fri. and the hotel sat. Sun. and back at Brian's monday. No leaving the field early this year. That will kill you! Hoping I'll get thrown out on a field to fly with some real CA wind and maybe even some flyers. Though Dan W. is going to be gone to another festival till Sat. Dan B..... Where are you? It will be good to see you two again. Tell Moon... I need her! BB Penny
  11. There is no wrong way. What ever works. BB Penny
  12. John wrote: Remember the Double Diamond from Peter Powell? ____________________________________________________ Oh yes, that was one when you wanted to put it away, just fly it in a good wind and it would fold itself up. Not a bad flying kite in a small wind window. There were a lot out there that the owners didn't know their names. Cute, flyable but nothing memorable. I liked the tetris, omni, synergy, symphony, skydancer, bat, beautiful evil, . (Joel Scholtz can bridle anything!) They all had their perks, and their flaws. or weak points. And not being a bit predjudice still have to say my Rev. is the best. BB Penny
  13. We're getting older. What's really something is when my friends who try flying for the first time, after passing on the opportunity to try it in the past get hooked and say, "Wow! I wish I had tried this 10 years ago when I first had the chance!" BB Penny
  14. ewwww I don't like mushy foam. <_< Wonder when they started that. BB Penny
  15. 150 of what type of line? That makes a big difference. Looking at my old lines they look like rope for mooring a boat. Bet your not using that! BB Penny
  16. Please, Can someone send him to the kitemakers site? They'll be able to help you. Kites have something for everyone, art, height, control, pull. This particular topic is quads. We're the kites with brakes, reverse and speed control. Hopefully, you'll come try one of ours one day. It's like riding a horse, fishing, flying and other physically and mentally challenging sports all rolled up into one. How difficult? A cody? Used as a man lifting machine. A fighter, used to fight other kites. There are a zillion type of kites. Hope you learn a lot and have a great time doing it. Where are you locate? Good luck with your project! BB Penny
  17. OOOhhh Aaahhhh Those picture made my Monday! I stayed home all weekend and worked on costumes. Yuk! I'd rather be flying a kite. San Ramon this weekend. Yeah! John, is Moon coming down to San Ramon? I really need some help putting on a few costumes. BB Penny
  18. Tetris, omni, bat, and other quads out of circulation. BB Penny
  19. Shhh.. <_< we don't mention the back tracker to much... it's like the red headed stepchild who didn't live up to expectations. Rev. had the right idea. Make an affordable kite for new people. But the back tracker was faster, the lines-shorter, making it faster yet,... and ehmm, the handles were just yuk! So for a new person, it could be a very frustrating experience. But throw on some tails to slow it down, or long lines, or even rev. handles and you had a wonderful flying kite, but new people didn't know this. The exp was created and still affordable. The Backtracker sold for about $99. The EXP sales for a little more. I've only been flying since 1990-91. Elizabeth has what they belive is one of the first 10 ever built. It has a printed date of 1989 on it. and they weren't suppose to be selling them then. BB Penny
  20. Hey, exp handles had mushy foam, but my rev II handles had firm foam. What gives? Bb Penny
  21. Kewl Aiyana! How long are your lines for the SS? Are you going to go neon green, pink, neon green, red, neon green, ? You might need another neon green and whatever... oh, .... the color choices! My wedding was done in our quad squad colors. the ladies went from the outer edges, hot pink, teal, purple, teal, hot pink. And the 10 flower girls had on multi colors of the same. It was every bit as beautiful as any kite festival. hugs back at you lady! BB Penny
  22. I try to sample every quad I come across. Usually where I see the difference is in the leading edge. When they bring down the center like their adding two kites together, you have to work on controlling an inverted slide turn. In heavy wind, the air wants to dump off the tops, the top tilting down is not what you want. They all have redeeming qualities, wonderful slides, etc. I'll try the rest, but Ill keep the best. BB Penny
  23. Revolution flying is all about the control. When someone first learns their brakes they are blown away. That's the control your looking for. Add several more rev's and your looking good. It's impressive looking. Some people like the feel of power they get from the pulling. But generally, like any stack, it all boils down to how kewl it looks. Someone may see a flyer doing a wonderful routine with a single rev., but did you see the guy flying 3 rev's at once? (in a train) they are every bit as controllable, and so pretty~ What ever makes you smile. BB Penny
  24. Your welcome. I love to talk kites. 90 lb's is not overweight, with the braided diameter, it's great. Smaller then the old line of less weight in the pass. Quads create such drag they can, do, and have done that myself.. <_< brake the line. I'm not sure where they get their ratios... I'm just a kite flyer, but I figure I weight more then 90 lbs and I'm dragging that kite. Flying my butterfly rev in the street the other night, someone told me I had it well whipped. So Tks to those Laser Pro Golds~I can whip it real good. Some one had a post about a stronger leading edge on the first several kites. We've had stacks of 6 and twelve rev II's for years around here without problems. But it seems like a sound idea if you can do it. Especially on bigger kites. Someone should get ahold of Lee Sedgwick or Sam Ritter and have them tell us about it. Have a great day. BB Penny
  25. Aiyana Do you have the Airbow? BB Penny
