The powers that be at work have decided that our annual Christmas Basket that we make for a gala event and auction off for charity will be done by me and Matt. They want a "kite" theme. (Matt wants 4x4's and rifles) At least I think their not kidding? heheh I like the ideal of a kite basket .. with the beach 1st aid kit like "Expresso, Kites and Other Delights" made for the Pacific Beach Auction. Toilet paper, Jack Daniels, bandaid, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. But how could I make this a highly desirable basket? With cost Under $100! Wouldn't a Beetle look good in it? Ideally it should raffle for $200-$300. So shrink wrap, basket, filler, and what ever we can find to put in it with the rest of the money. Any suggestions? BB Penny !:

There are more Rev's everywhere! It is the kite of the Millinieum! In CA the last couple of years we've had more rev's then dual lines. And this year, they still weren't all taken out of the bags. But I get lots of "Penny, I got my Rev!" I asked Bill one year what color he got... he said *$)#* I don't know... but I got my rev! Now it's time for a Rev Round up! A good Rev. mass ascention at Nationals maybe? Monkey Boy.... your job.. should you decide to do it.. is go forth and find, or make a rev. emoticon. ooohhhh I got a new cd player in my van yesterday.. I can check out that new CD, too. It was my :b-day: Tks! BB Penny

Hey John, Seaside isn't to far out of the way on the way back.. Unless, there's someone we could drop you with on the way back that could carry you the rest of the way? Are you wanting to go to Lincoln city? I could pick you up in my old/new van. Yeah! I painted it two tone blue w/stars. Getting lots of honks. I think that's a good thing... big thing is, it makes me smile. Ronnie..... you live by John too.... somewhere... in Oregon.... right? hehehe John let us know if your really wanting to go. You know we can carry you. Cept you have to find a place to stay.. We only have one bed in our room at "The Exceptional Place to Bed and Breakfast" and it is! (A word for our sponsor) BB Penny

Penny Lingenfelter replied to John Barresi's topic in News from the Webmaster
John I got emails from all over the world asking what happened to it. Glad to see it's back to. I'd be embarrased to admit how often I check in. Hey, Mousie has a smiley and planegirl has a smiley.. I'm jealous! I want one! If monkey boy can fix curious george up with a kite... or was that his brother?.. uncertain .... seems like we could get someone to make us a rev. smiley. Keep up the good work and don't get any nightmares from the Sci-Fi channel. BB Penny -
Rok on!

Hey you two, say kite art and your ok.. well maybe "kite art at WSIKF" My husband had to back out on me at the last minute. (refereeing a football game they forgot to tell him about) . which is fine.. I've been going to Long Beach by myself longer then I've been with him and it gives me a reason to want to go home. Karen Thompson had just mentioned that she would have gone w/me if Steve wasn't coming and we could have taken the camper.. So hey! I lost my husband and gained a camper Friday evening. But the guys thought we should wait till Sat. am to leave. We probably won't do that again! Since I came to WSIKF on Sat. morning I felt like I missed so much. And a little tired from 3 am in the morning.l I'm not use to those hours. I got to get a few hugs, give a few lessons and even got to buggy a little. the rain didn't slow us down to much. Except I had to quit flying to take someone their slicker back. hehehe Friends didn't even recognized me in the red slicker. I heard "Penny is that you under there?" a few times. Hey, it was wet but still blowing! Wish I had my gortex on, but the rain started after I walked up for lunch and my rain gear was on the beach. When I got to the beach Ron & Jennifer had carried my gear up the beach (thanks you two) and left me my kite to fly and put up at my leisure. Which I did. The rain storrrrrrmmmm was a great excuse to catch up on my sleep and a delicous nap in the camper was a treat. We wandered the town in the evening just to check out the kite stores... but 3 am just doesn't agree with me. Use to be we could dress in our "incentive dreses" and have a night on the town. ... now we sit around talk about those days. We found a driveway with some help from our friends and called it a night. I fell asleep pretty early.. which was good, it made for a nice Sunday. It was still raining in the morning, but by afternoon it was a gorgous Sunnyshiny day! Ron brought his buggy and I got to play a few minutes. Seemed like a lot of work between the lower winds, and soft sand, but I still felt like holloring "woo hoo"! Then a little fly time, a few lessons... and what did I spot? A murder of Rev's!!! (Hey if a row of birds is a murder... I think kites could be called a murder, too) I went over to find Dan Whitney, Dan Burningham, Aarron Champie, Steve Brown, ..... darn and someone I'm forgetting.... . Well, when I got home I had to tell Steve (my sweetie) That the guys had said they were glad he wasn't there.... And did we all want a cigarette?.. It was fun flying! Just that fun! On the ground I got to meet Boomer and hug Mousie and Connor. Qucik hug to the editor..... old friends, love it! We watched the fighter flyers come in and dance their kites like birds darting around in the sky. Got a few quick hello's in to the CA crowed. Lucky for them I couldn't remember where their house was or they might have gotten a late night visit. Oh, gosh... and I flew in the Mystery Ballet, not good, but I flew. heheh ... hmmmm bet I remember more later... I didnt' get my good visit in with Lolly, or kitebum Charlie, or whole bunches of people. Two days at WSIKF is simply not enough!! Still, better then nothing! So now.... Long Beach is over... which in my mind means summer is over. And it's been pretty cloudy here in WA every since... but that's ok... cause we have Indian Summers in WA. Which is a good thing.. My Sept. -Oct is pretty full of kite events still! Woo Hoo! I still feel like holloring! We'll see you on the beach or inside this winter!! Remember-we need more indoor flyers! Try it, you will be amazed how much fun it is. Indoor at WSIKF... ewwww I missed that too. So much to fly, so little time. But you get the picture. Next year! BB Penny

Wow, Thanks Theresa I'll check my calendar at work on Monday and see if I can go. It sounds great. I'm going to have to mail away for new bumperstickers or go see the stores. I had to take 1/2 the old bmperstikers off so I could paint my van this weekend. Whew, 12 hours of painting while I keep two and four yr. old grandsons. Thank goodness they are so good One faint bumpersticker I left on was "Buggy Gruven" Wonder if they are still available? Mike Gillard? Wonder if that is where I got it. hmmm not sure. New kite bumperstickers will rejuvenate me. Does The Kite Shoope have a store bumpersticker? BB Penny

oooh awwww i t's nice to find out more about people and their real lives. Much better to hear it in a forum then to find out all the wonderful things about a person after they've passed on. Keep going, and keep breathing. Rick Two daughters? Any sons? Reminds me of my old shirt.... 'This ain't no Tuna club... we're the sons of the beaches" ok, so lives a beach and then you fly. Isn't that "bea*chi*ful"? Enough already? Sorry, work has been a bear lately and I've missed the forum. Penny shaking it off.. looking around to see how Trilbymouse looks w/red hair.... Can't wait for brookings! Need kites We'll miss hearing you there Rick. BB Penny -
My my what a drive! 10 hours! We'll get there like 5 am and then on the field. Luckily this event is one that has enough professional kiteflyers to let you rest a little. I can't wait! When are you getting in John? BB Penny

Penny Lingenfelter replied to codykiteguy's topic in The Web Site (nuts and bolts)
John. I was already to start a web page when I saw you at Lincon city.. ooops you weren't there. I know competition. But You will be in Brookings? I want to do check or card, not pay pal. will that Work? BB Penny did you say french festival? -
I request "Fragile"stickers on mine. It helps, and always look for them at the oversized area. We waited once at the luggage terminal, and missed a plane. While the bags were on the floor behind us. A hard lesson years ago. I've got to learn the sports clause. I hadn't paid yet, but come close w/argueing. Have a great day! BB Penny

Just be yourself Rick, you might have a new friend for life. Kites, think kites.. common ground and it's ok to show fear.......... keeps you kinda humble. Don't cow down, and don't throw caution or anything else to the wind...unless you have a string on it. Remember, we're living vicareously through you on this, so be kiteful. Enough bad puns? BB Penny

Traveller, a vented Rev. II and a 1.5 and you can fly in anything, anywhere! I'm not making this up. I wouldn't worry about a little bunch on the kite sail, Ge99ne. It's a little noisy, but you shouldn't loose enough efficency to be concerned. You can still tighten bundgees at the points if you need to tighten the sail. Best breezes, Penny

Hey John, Sat. morning WKA is running the Mystery Ballet probably starting at 9am. So you all don't get to liquered up! It;s a fun event and one worth flying in. The kite chatroom use to plan an early Sat. Breakfast. That was fun. We might think about that.. Though something close into town works better for some. I won't get in till Friday night... so if your going to get liquerd up do it on Thursday night. BB Penny
-
Rick your to funny! He's kinda charming to, huh Amy? I mean for an old single liner. (Oh, the things I can say... that even Carl won't say) I thought AOK was on Thursday night. So if we do that it will be Thur. and if we do the beer garden it will be Fri? BB Penny Please except my confusion... it's a way of life.

Call me Tat for short. Watch out for those trees Rick, and I'd keep an eye open for bowling balls, too if I was you. You must have heard womthing I didn't? Why you limping away? BB Penny

Potato costume? potaTO costume?! hehe everyone is trying to figure out a way to make my egg costume, more egg like, easily packable into a small suitcase... and here's the hard one.... Penny Proof! (I'm hard on things, ok) But Potato costume!? hehehe Nope, the best you can do if anybody gives you to hard of a time is rock them to sleep. (I can furnish a big rock) Hey, Amy are you coming up to WSIKF in Aug? BB Penny
