  1. Hehe since they are built in to the ABS, it seems like they aren't just required, but are a must. Those loops look heavy compared to magic sticks! Hmmm... "sissy sticks"... "lame loops" They're just "quad roll bars"... Dual kites have had them for a while. I love them on my Temptations...
  2. 18-25 with gusts to 30mph all on a B2 Std! I like your style.... Use a 30 foot set and we could have a regular light sabre fight! Back to the topic. I'm looking to get a coloured line set for night street flying as the LPG white just disappears under certain street lights. I find around 6000K is the worst. A yellow would jump out at that colour.
  3. Sorry to disappoint ya'll, this one's headed WAY south... To Oz...
  4. My dual is also 7ft, Temptation by KaoS, and a fun short length to practice tricks I've found is 50 feet. I much prefer 100 but 50 is a funky length if you're pushed for space. As I heat more familiar with 50 I want to go to 30, the same length as my street lines for my Rev.
  5. How low do you mean? I can, and do, fly mine in still air. Sure it's a little more work than my 1.5SUL but it's a whole lotta fun still. It remains quite fast if you let it run, or slow and graceful. Not anything like the Indoor. More like if the Indoor and the SUL had a baby. This is comparing my SUL flown off the bridle and not the verts. The B2 off the verts is twitchy but worth a try in still air too.
  6. Preface: only theorising. I would think that the less tension in your LE the less cup you'll get. The bungees will absorb the wind pressure first before they stretch and transfer the tension energy to the sail. I would think that a sail that is already under tension would cup more as the tension energy will be transferred at less pressure. The other thing to get more cup would be to: 1) tighten the outer leg of the LE bridle to force more curve in. or 2) Lengthen the centre loop to allow the LE to flex out more with sail pressure. Your thoughts?
  7. If in doubt, buy the pretty one...
  8. Don't be afraid to get a really good kite. You will benefit from growing into it. Frames can be fixed. Holes can be taped. Every trick started out as a stuff up!
  9. Big enough. I copied this from another forum, I think, and I'll try to get some details and a photo credit too. It's German and big. Makers name starts with a "W".
  10. Still have the stock bridle on my B2. Kind of toying with the idea of scaling down a 7 point LE Revoholic bridle developed by PAW. Could be interesting...
  11. I doubt I'll take them off my B2. Except if I make a 2/3 progressive stack again. Being able to fly lower and much higher on the 2 frame means I have a spare frame.... Maybe a B2 Vtd sail... And sticks on that would go way high!!!
  12. Lived 250 feet from the Atlantic Ocean, in Hollywood Florida for 10 years, but was flying Cessnas and Pipers back then rather than kites. .... geez!! What size line did they need....
  13. I'm inland too so I know the frustration. But! We get this kick arse easterly as it roars down the escarpment on its way to the coast! In the last month or so I've been on my dual UL, Rev SUL or Indoor. And to be honest, loving the light to zero conditions. With flying your Revs, have you considered stacking them? A mid and std are a really nice, smooth pair. If you have wind for a std, try them both. Pulls a crowd too. Try a shorter line set too. 30 footers for your Rev. The skills developed in light conditions are worth gold. You'll see and feel them the next time you get a good breeze.
  14. Red, White and Blue are on the Aussie flag too.... Down under stack!
  15. Now THAT is an indoor flying space! I like it a lot. Flying inside AND being able to squeak my shoes, heaven...
  16. Simply: 13's little bit of hand movement equals a little bit of kite wing movement. 15's little bit of hand movement equals moderate amount of kite wing movement. 17's same same but a lot of kite wing movement.
  17. An EXP is bigger, and would be more forgiving to learn on. A Rev2 will be some what twitchy and nervous by comparison. The Rev2/B2 now comes with 3 piece LE's.
  18. Light wind can be horribly discouraging. The key is practice your technique. Watch a few tutorials, apply when you fly. You can fly a Vented kite in low winds if you have sound technique. Long legs help though....
  19. I learnt on an EXP and I beat the hell out of that thing. Flew it in vented winds. I got it as a package and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a starter. You will get the "bug". You will get more. You will have a sail for all conditions.
  20. Essentially they are the same. But different. Kind of like the difference between 2 cars. The EXP is a great kite and will show you all the beauty of Revs. The B Series just does it better. The B has: Better sail fabric, more colours and options, venting options, better sail design. All the fruit.
  21. With a 2-1.5-1 progressive, the inner train links will need to be shorter than the outers as it's not a linear expansion. When I trained my B2 to my 1.5 I used the 4.5 links. I made the outer LE points as reference and shortened the rest up from there. The 4 the go from vert to vert will have differences top to bottom. The idea is to have all kites parallel and the link lines straight before any load is applied. A Progressive Stack doesn't need the rear kite "braked" any where near the amount of a stack of the same sized kites.
  22. The pigtails come off if you are prone to water flying... Easy to take off for that.
  23. Thinking out loud here, This could be a sub article on Kitelife. Introduce new and old flyers and give a little background on them/us....
  24. +1 on the #50. The other thing you can do is use shorter lengths in light wind. I don't have any quad sets in #50 but I do have shorter sets of #90. 30 and 50 foot lengths see quite a bit of use when the wind drops. I also train some kites together too...
