  1. Good morning tkrinor, The only line I know of that's readily available and comes in a color is Shanti SkyBond, comes in a yellow color. Hopefully you hear some more suggestions.
  2. I have those same concerns WA. these tips have helped to ease my mind when out flying and filming alone: If you leave yourself out of the scene, you can put the camera in front of you. Its beneficial to be recorded in a variety of angles, so don't just keep the camera behind you- any angle from the side to your front will allow you to keep an eye on your camera. Get what is called a Gorilla Pod tripod. They can be made to lay low on the ground where people might not even notice it as a camera. Also the Gorilla Pod with the magnetic base can stick to light poles. Bring a ladder and stick your camera up high to anything metal. Leave off the headphones. If you need the music, bring a small battery powered radio. If the area you fly in is patrolled by security, try and find them before you start filming, and ask them to keep an eye on you for a bit. A security guard was nice enough to patrol my area for a half hour while I filmed my last vid. Hope it helps, good luck!
  3. Thanks for the cleaning tip Walt. I think I'll give my holsters a bath as well, then everything will be looking sharp for KP. Website looks sharp on my Android smartphone, and worked without any hitches. Any chance there's a mini Davis marble stake available? I would get one for sure.
  4. Hey Carolyn, The current round of stakes look AMAZING. The grey, black, and red one and the Orange, black, and yellow one especially catch my eye! I'd be very interested in a pocket stake with the colors black, yellow, green, and white. To match my Pros! At your Etsy, I see a couple that are so close to this... but I love how black seems to set the other colors off I'd also like to see a pocket stake featuring black or white, and red, yellow, lime green, and mid blue. I'd also like to see a black, gray, and yellow, again in pocket format. Can they be custom ordered in this manner? I love how the design is like melting, set within the rigid shape of the stake's head. To me it's a great contrast- keep up the great work!
  5. Ha! Promise you guys will come over here? I could use the team flying practice
  6. Both of yous: Real men don't use any sleeving at all
  7. No, if you stake the top of the handles, as I do, the bottom is left free and is closer to the kite. Oh and you said pulled out farther. Maybe farther towards yourself, I was talking farther towards the kite. So, in other words, the loop farthest from yourself is always the brake line, if you follow the DVD.
  8. I can tell which is top and bottom by checking which line is larks head-ed to the other. If there's no larks head present, I can tell by which loop is farther out (brake line is always farther out when you follow the Rev DVD instructions). I love this about the Rev- there's more than one way to string a kite everyone can have their own style and it all works!
  9. Does Walt frequent this forum? I'd like his input on the best way to shine up my handles and stake before I venture out to Kite Party.
  10. what a bummer Captainbob. That doesn't look right... if the dealer is slow to help, which is doubtful within this community, contact Revolution directly. This is what mine looks like: You can clearly see that the attachment point is connected to a leg made with doubled over bridle line- yours looks like a single strand! And its long... looks wrong. You'll know when it's straightened out and ready to fly, as the wind will disappear on you for a few days just kidding, hope to hear it's fixed soon!
  11. JB throws down 360s in 7-8mph wind flying one handed!! (italicized, bolded). Serious bro, I'm giddy like a kid at Christmas every time I see it Hmmmm. I usually only go for the 360 as a necessity- in too low wind, took the Rev to far to the edge of the window to turn back, for example. So i usually do it in less wind. You've piqued my curiosity JB. Damn. And my left knee just healed
  12. I beg to differ... Anytime the kite is not flat to the wind, you sacrifice both pressure AND control, which is why I favor a straight forward, "nose forward" flight path on my 360s... The caveat is that it also provides a higher profile on the back side of a 360, required you to hustle a little faster than when doing a samurai slide. I must admit, I'm not a physicist or an engineer. So this is all IMO. I'll agree JB, I feel like I'm sacrificing feel and control pressure in a slide, but then I feel I'm adding to the pressure that keeps the kite flying. Because I can't pull more pressure into a slide, i can definitely have more pressure in a sail going nose forward. But while I feel like I'm sacrificing control pressure in a slide, I don't feel a loss in the pressure that keeps the kite aloft. I can slide a full vent through a 360 on shorter lines in no wind with relative ease, but if I go nose forward with the same setup, I'm sprinting! The lack of hustle on the back end is why I like the slide better as a beginner I guess I play to my strengths
  13. I hope the New York Minute takes off, pardon the weak pun, so maybe one day we'll see a "pro" version of it... With the way I abuse my Revs, I have a hard time justifying a regular 1.5 sized kite. I need the beefed up leading edge and wear strips! Still, I'm hoping Ben will let me fly one at Kite Party (and a std and vented regular blast wink nudge)- just a month away
  14. This is the difference between lateral flight and a slide. During a samurai slide, you sacrifice control, not pressure. It might not feel powered up to your hands, but the sail, laid flatter in reference to the ground is at its most efficient in this manner. During horizontal lateral flight, you sacrifice power in the left or right side of the sail to directly influence flight control, as you stated above. I use the slide in a 360, rather than lateral flight, as its much easier to let the kite be efficient rather than force it around the front side of the wind. Otherwise, fly around the 360 how you desire- forward, backwards, lateral, slide, cartwheel, etc etc. Just flying forward?? JB would never be so boring Keeping a tame and slow pace works against me in a 360, unless I just want to do a bunch of 360s. I'd rather always keep at a pace that will allow me to bust out at a moment's notice. Right out of the front (wind) side of a 360, I might want to go into a hover, or a cartwheel, and I better be moving to do it. But, to each their own. I'm a fan of aggressive non-stop tricking, so I suggested always using a backpedal because it's what works for me. As the saying goes, your mileage may vary
  15. I like the figure of 8 knot for lighter weight lines, but you can't go wrong with it on any weight. It's just a bit harder to position compared to an overhand knot, and near impossible to untie once pulled taught. When using an overhand I tie 2 of them back to back, and this seems to work well on any weight line. The overhand knot is also used for line equalization, and each one you tie will lessen your line length by about 1/4". I have tabs to pull on to undo my lines from the bridle like Must86, but I added them on by making a small loop out of line and larks head-ing that onto the end loop. Either way you do it, it's recommended!
  16. I bring my foil to the far right or left edge of the wind window. As the sail de-powers, feather the handles/straps/bar to point it slightly towards the ground. In this manner, when the wind isn't hitting the sail square, it lands rather softly. Stake down your handles and go to collect it- quickly if you're me lol.
  17. Excellent Captainbob! Good to hear you had the winds for it. 16 mph is great fun on the Symphony. Did you attach a tail? 9 Couple other suggestions for holding down your trailing edge- Wal-Mart sells 1 pound hand held weights (get 2), covered in soft fabric, they are very portable and slide off the sail easily. I also like cardboard mailing tubes quarter-filled with rocks.
  18. JB just said it best, commit to it, and I don't even bother trying to walk backwards, I start off at steady backpedal. To keep up with sail pressure demands, it's much easier and smoother to vary your speed while backpedaling than it is to go from a backwards walk to a backpedal. When running backwards or backpedaling, it helps to keep a pace and a style, so you can work on it. I learned from, and like, JB's style shown in this vid: He gets into it right away after a few seconds. Helped me to understand that I needed a style to my backpedal that would help me be smoother.
  19. Everyone's kung fu fighting out here my friend! One PURPLE B, on its way to me.
  20. Interesting thanks for the links bro!
  21. The mall and airport are places that have designated smoking areas! Thanks for the consideration anywhere else though... I'll never complain about it at your house, or anywhere outdoors, or publicly indoors in the right environment.
  22. Yeah germs in your exhaled breath attached to micro water droplets. Your germs travel farther, and live longer out in the open, like when you sneeze. Either way, I don't want to breathe it in as a bystander. I don't think there is enough research on it either way for anyone to convince me it's safe to breathe in someone else's "vapor" than to not at all. Once again, I think it's great for the smokers. Just keep it away from me indoors in public, unless I'm at the bar or the hookah lounge, please.
