Yes, it is between the B-series (full) vented and the B-Pro series extra vent. The regular B-series was not made in an extra vent. The simplest explanation is to look at total area of venting. The kite(s) with more vented area are made for higher wind. How high a wind will depend on your style and skill level.

A couple of good outings with the new Freilein Exodus Max

Yes it is! And once you think you have learned it all, someone will invent something new to do and you're learning again. Vented kites always feel smoother than full sail kites because of the smaller area being affected by inconsistencies in the way the wind is blowing and because the kite moves slower. Same force, smaller surface. That is also the reason it is a bit harder to launch. However, the launch and overall speed are the only things it affects. Once you've launched you should be golden. Remember that when you come in one knot you give up some percentage of control over reverse flight and hovers. I don't think that adjusting the top lines on the fly would be enough of a benefit to justify the time to develop a method of doing it. You can simulate bringing them one or two knots in by putting your index fingers over the top leaders. Most flyers just get used to having to give it a little extra "pop" when launching. Now as a method of very, very fine tuning it might be interesting on the fly. Half the fun is modifying or building variations of things that exist. That is how great discoveries are made. Go for it, but make sure you're having fun. After all, that's what kite flying is about.- 1 reply

Hi, Osh, and welcome to the forum. Your dual flying is better than mine, and better than a lot of other people. I look forward to sharing a field with you someday.

Don't. It wont increase the value at all, and you may end up screwing it up so it becomes less valuable. Anybody who buys one and wants to clean it can handle it by themselves. Not worth doing all that work for no appreciable increase in value.

Glad to hear you're having fun. It gets even better.

Let the banter begin. -
Trick kites are intentionally designed to be somewhat unstable. Moving the center of gravity helps accomplish this. Bridle anchor points, adjustment, and distance apart will augment or diminish this tendency. Precision kites will have the exact opposite of these design features, and therefore, more difficult to stall and trick, as tricking depends largely on how easily the kite can be stalled. Precision kites tend to have their center of gravity towards the nose of the kite. Most kites are a compromise between these two extremes, but will lean towards one or the other, depending on the designer's intent. In addition, the depth of the sail, the number, location and attitude of the standoffs, the aspect ratio, and the number, shape, and location of sail panels of the kite will play a major role in the overall performance. It's not as complicated as rocket science, but all the basic principles of aerodynamics are considered by the advanced kite designers when building a kite for a specific purpose. And then they have to try to make it look pretty, which may slightly inhibit the other performance traits. Very often, the uglier ones will perform better than their pretty cousins, but the differences are so subtle that only an advanced flyer can feel any difference. This is what makes kite flying a life-long learning experience. The level you want to achieve is the one that makes you smile the most.

A lot of what I have is home-made or massively modified and this is the only one I really haven't pulled out of the bag since 2014. You're only after the French Bridle -- you can't fool me! -
If I had a dollar for every time I did that I could buy another set of lines and handles. Do what it takes. The smile is worth the time. And if you want to really appreciate coastal winds, come fly in the Midwest. You will love them after that!
-
Actually, if you fly from the wall of a crater, that's possible, and therefore, you will. Murphy.

Did you ever notice how much kiting is just like fishing? The wind only hit 17mph and he was still 5 feet away from the stake when it started raining and the bass he caught only weighed 8.7 pounds. Murphy.

Only two weeks to go. Hurry, don't miss the chance. Step up and join in. I wish I had a dozen to give away. -
That's a whole different can of worms, but worth scrutiny.
-
Isn't it amazing how you never paid attention to that before you started flying kites or flying other things? Same crazy crap here in the Midwest, only we get some "Up" wind also. Great for RC sailplanes, not so much for kites. Plus the gusts from 0-25, plus the 180 degree shifts in direction. Other than that it's quite predictable -- 99% chance of crap winds. Sometimes it makes you believe there are evil forces working against you because you fly a kite.

You can play too, John. Don't be shy. -
New drawing is up, pending approval.

I've had this one since they came out, but only flew it maybe three or four times, and there's nothing else in my bag that I want to part with. Drawing is for a like-new, no wear and still very crisp Revolution Kites Rainbow Radical Line Art (Masterpiece) kite designed by John Mitchell. I have another in a different color scheme that I've modified for low wind and use often. This one just never gets out of the bag anymore. It is the one I used to check out a French Bridle on. It includes the sail, black race frame, French Bridle (installed), the original bridle that it came with, and original sleeve. No lines or handles. Someone's going to be a very happy camper! I really have nothing else kite-related that I want to part with, but I don't want anyone to feel that you have to match value, so please don't feel uncomfortable about entering. Like the rules say: "THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION." So please don't feel intimidated or reluctant to enter, just go for it and enjoy. I will ship this via USPS Priority Mail, insured and signature required, so you may have to make a trip to the post office (Oh, what a bummer!!!). In so far: 1. @riffclown 2. @Mike Klaiber 3. @Bill Clay 4. @khsidekick 5. @Edmond Dragut 6. @Mikelp3586 7. @T in WI 8. @zachprism01 9. @TSO 10. @elmo264 11. @RobB 12. @drdemonx 13. @Mitch 14. @Michael E. Shipping is paid by the original poster, the winner pays nothing. Be prepared to ship your prize anywhere in the lower 48 US States. Sorry, but due to shipping costs, we really have to limit this to the lower 48 US States. RULE CHANGE (7/31/2014): Members from Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii are welcome to enter the Karma drawings provided they are willing to pay half of the Karma prize shipping cost. The method and timing of the payment will be agreed upon between the two parties after the drawing for a particular prize. You can choose the length of the giveaway, but keep it between 1 and 2 weeks. Try to ship the prize promptly. You should be able to ship it within a week, but if you can’t, PM the winner and let them know. Sometimes life gets in the way! This whole thing works on the honor system so if there are any problems shipping or receiving a prize, it needs to be worked out between the two parties. Don’t forget…Karma! This isn’t a competition, but feel free to be generous! If you can only put up a hat, or a tail for a stunt kite, great! If you have something in your kite bag that you never fly and would be willing to ship, that’s great too. Either way, the people that join to win it will appreciate it. When you receive your prize, post a thank you to the thread where you won it. The thread will be locked after that point so the new **KARMA** stays above it. Good luck, and have fun!

Yes, it's called lying, as in "That's what I was trying to do".

Way too many to list. Just Google "Rev kite" and click on the videos tab. You'll find enough to keep yourself busy for days!

Hi, SeeGee, and welcome to the forum. It's good to have you on board. All the information you'll ever need to know about any kind of kite can be found here. I look forward to sharing a field with you someday. Have fun, smile, and don't forget to breathe. P.S. -- Challenge your friends to see how well THEY can handle your "kids' toy". Should be quite entertaining, and a great way to get them into it.

Thanks -- I used to have one and it was tons of fun. Now I have one again. Yay!!! Didn't expect to win, so I haven't searched my stuff for "extras". I'll have the new karma up in a couple of days at most. Thank you, Mitch.
