Yeah, but I've seen you do both, sometimes even in the same routine. Of course, there could be two sizes available.
-
I've never tried indoor -- at least not indoors, anyway. I was thinking a bit bigger to give it some more float and grace, unless the intent is "rock and roll".
-
Will the production model be full-size?

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Two-thirds to three-quarters of the longest dimension of the kite for the length of the stack lines as a starting point. Wobble is reduced by retarding the speed of the back kite in the stack, which simply means making the bottom stack line(s) just a touch shorter. How much depends on the kite. Start with about a 1/4" (5%) on smaller kites and increase if necessary after testing. If you Google "peter powell stack" you'll see some good images that show attachment points and lengths. Short stacks require less precision than long ones.

This is the cutoff post. No more entries after this. Winner in a couple of minutes.

I'll draw tonight around 8pm CST and ship on Monday or Tuesday.

That looks too fragile to fly in anything over 1/2 mph!!!!! Wow is right.
-
So, the new logo is bg? 6y? 69? b9? hy? by? h9? 6g? Kind of vague to someone not familiar with kites.

The catch is not too difficult on long lines. It's the throw that is nearly impossible to accomplish. You have to throw the kite hard and high and run in the opposite direction as fast as you can. I managed to do it on 80's once. Didn't even bother to try on 120's.

@Mstroke2017 Kiters are normal people ...... well, not normal ..... but, not like movie stars or politicians. Even the pros are approachable. You can actually walk up and say hi, and security won't tackle and cuff you. If you look interested, or like you need help, they will even come over and talk to you. Most of them don't bite, even when provoked.

We're not that formal here. You can skip the tie.

Is there anybody out there?

Hi, mayur jobanputra, and welcome to the forum.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Hi, Pgaks3, and welcome to the forum. I look forward to sharing a field with you someday.

Hi, Rob, and welcome to the forum. I look forward to flying with you someday.

Thank you. I can't believe only two people would be interested in a hat and quad line set. This really made me dig to find something to offer for the next drawing. It's not as dramatic as the Rainbow, but some folks should show interest. New drawing is posted and pending approval. Thank you again.

I had to really look hard to find anything this time, and came across an item that I think a few people may be interested in. I used this once, put it away and pretty much forgot all about it. It's not a necessity, but will come in handy to check your estimate. It sold for about $75 brand new and will work with Apple or Android phones once you download the Windoo app. Needs iOS 6.0 or Android 4.0 or better to work. Definitely small enough to carry on your person and is quite accurate. Non-directional design is nice so you don't have to point it directly into the wind to get accurate readings. Please note that this is the Windoo 1 model, and it only reads windspeed and temperature, so if you Google it for more info, don't mistake for the Windoo 2 or Windoo 3, which read humidity and/or barometric pressure as well. Entered for drawing: 1. @RLHerrick 2. @Ca Ike 3. @mwp 4. @kiteflyr Some rules and guidelines: Don’t play unless you’re willing to put up a prize and ship it to whoever wins. Shipping is paid by the original poster, the winner pays nothing. Be prepared to ship your prize anywhere in the lower 48 US States. Sorry, but due to shipping costs, we really have to limit this to the lower 48 US States. RULE CHANGE (7/31/2014): Members from Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii are welcome to enter the Karma drawings provided they are willing to pay half of the Karma prize shipping cost. The method and timing of the payment will be agreed upon between the two parties after the drawing for a particular prize. You can choose the length of the giveaway, but keep it between 1 and 2 weeks. Try to ship the prize promptly. You should be able to ship it within a week, but if you can’t, PM the winner and let them know. Sometimes life gets in the way! This whole thing works on the honor system so if there are any problems shipping or receiving a prize, it needs to be worked out between the two parties. Don’t forget…Karma! This isn’t a competition, but feel free to be generous! If you can only put up a hat, or a tail for a stunt kite, great! If you have something in your kite bag that you never fly and would be willing to ship, that’s great too. Either way, the people that join to win it will appreciate it. When you receive your prize, post a thank you to the thread where you won it. The thread will be locked after that point so the new **KARMA** stays above it. Good luck, and have fun!

Get out to some festivals in your area, or some of the regular get-togethers. Try other people's kites. We're a nice bunch and we don't bite.

Where do you keep the uprights when you pack up the kite? Do you roll up the kite part way, put the rods in and roll the rest of the way? The ends of all your spars are quite sharp and abrasive. Make sure that each end of each rod rests inside the kite in a manner that will not affect the mesh or the sail material. Don't roll the kite as tightly or put the uprights outside of the sail in the sleeve. Check the ends of the spars for chips, cracks or uneven cuts. Sand if necessary. Best way to fix and apply prevention at the same time is to install wear strips on the back of the kite and just a dab of cyanoacrylate glue where it is severed to keep it from spreading. If you don't have a sewing machine, find someone who does and knows how to use it. The job is very fast and easy. Research the project here using the search option using "wear strips". Once you have the material cut to size, the sewing takes no more than 20 minutes.
-
You just mentioned them. You didn't describe them, but you mentioned them.
-
Too much tension on the uprights now. Ease it up by loosening the bottom bungees, and possibly tightening the ends of the leading edge after that. You want to minimize that "crease" right over the vertical spars. The sail should be tight, but not stretched.

I'm in. Lines and hat = happy flier. And they're both "wear" items.
