  1. This is a fine item. I don't believe that no one wants in on this.
  2. I concur on research and quality over cheap and easy. I am vary particular on what tools I buy. I research and want to get the best one for my money long term. I've learned the hard way and apply the same reasoning to all of my purchases from clothes to cars.
  3. Rob, do you have a template that you would mind sharing? Did you use plywood or solid stock?
  4. It's like owning a renaissance master painting. You don't care if it's your favorite, you know what it is and you want it. Just so happens that I love just about everything he makes.
  5. I'm in. I'm In. I'm in. I am a huge Brasington fan boy. I hope my crappy luck has been holding it back for this. I have a 16 ft fiberglass pole to hang this from and I know it works because I let someone else hang their tulip from it last fall at the beach. You want definition of Karma. Here it is.
  6. You'll want to specify lines and handles included or RTF (ready to fly). Lines get pricey and people tend to hold onto theirs to the bitter end.
  7. Congratulations Barton. Man my luck sucks. I couldn't hit the ground if I fell.
  8. SHBKF, I love the ingenuity. I do the same types of things because I don't want to wait when I'm in the right mindset. Well done.
  9. Some of us might be out there for the Naperville PD Kite Fly on May 31st. You could stop by then otherwise we tend to fly in Wheaton or St Charles.

I do it for fun. I'm not that interested in logging my progress, then its not fun for me.
  11. Thanks Craig. Certainly jealous of flying in the shadow of the GG bridge on a nice green field as well as getting a mild workout in. What could be nicer?
  12. I'm in. Always have room for one of Walts stakes. You must have the proper accoutrements.
  13. Don't sell your Berkeley short. If you ever want to part with it, let me know.
  14. Cheer up mate. It's the physical universe you're mad at. Don't be mad at your knowledge of how far away you are. We don't want you clueless.
  15. I recently found another flier in my area. I wouldn't mind a crisp, new dualie to showoff fly with him.
  16. Ugh. What we don't do for our kit...family. Family. Yeah.
  17. You can't take it with you.
  18. I think the bay is your best bet. You won't find a well known name brand large kite for that amount, unless it's in need of repairs.
  19. There are plenty of dual line fliers in Europe. Maybe Hadge could give you some leads and you could buy a used one. I know there are several fliers in Scandinavia.
  20. Seems great to me. Had some aborted page loads with server messages before.
  21. I didn't feel the need to adjust my Premier Widow (I bought mine directly from Jon T.) It just wants to respond so much more than the Quantum that you might be exaggerating your inputs and not realizing it. The Quantum is built like a pickup truck. It'll do tricks, but not want to do it as easily. My Premier Widow is more like a Subaru WRX Ti, while very similar to the Widow Maker likened to a Porsche. The price tag is less, but it can and wants to do just about every trick. You wouldn't drive your pickup truck the same way you would a car more capable of speed and control. While the concept is the same, you will need to learn how fly the Widow Maker.
  22. To be blunt, the physics don't change for the age of the flier. A sail on a boat is still gonna push the boat no matter who controls the lines. It's the type if kite you fly that makes the difference If you're looking for a bare bones entry level sport kite, SkyDog kites has some low cost kites. Also, you can get a Prism 1.2 foil made for zooming fun, that has very little pull , but is almost impossible to break. An entry level dual line sport kite isn't going to do any tricks....easily. There are plenty of single line kites (SLK) that are cheap, but good (Premier Kites, HQ kites, Prism, etc.), but I don't think that would hold their attention for long.
  23. I too have struggled with subtler inputs. Once you start to get that muscle memory the tricks will come. I have the Premier Widow and it is lights years different than the Quantum. Completely different feel that requires adjustment to your inputs. keep at it and post pictures for help. There is another forum with lots of experienced dual line fliers who can offer and have already posted lots of fixes for fliers. http://www.gwtwforum.com/index.php?board=16.0 This is the beginners part of the forum. Many, many questions have been answered already. (Thanks JB)
