Everywhere People here have issues though. I would like to ride lower..but then they see the camera and flip out. Just didn't want to deal with that today... Don't get me wrong, some love it and want to talk, wave, etc... but from my few travels kiting. Jax isn't the friendliest place I have had the police called on me for taking a selfie at the beach with my cell....loooooong story. Any other time... I will gladly engage with my rights as an American and clearly state "public grounds" and that it's a "hobby" not for commercial use and maybe they should have stayed in their house and not walk outside..I am sure a satellite is taking your picture at this very moment "do you know who to call and give them grief also?"

it almost sounds as if your line slid in the sleeving?
-
I have had issues with the stock sized sleeving before. ..doing exactly as described. I now use a fairly thin and small diameter hollow core dacron 80#. Problem solved ...except for the occasional rush job
-
Whatever you can afford works. I used a Cannon point and shoot...under $100.. for awhile. Goapro does some neat stuff, light, durable, WATER AND SAND PROOF in the right case. It's not everyones choice. I got mine for free, so no complaining here! Time lapse or remote will be invaluable. I don't use the remote that much on th GP yet, but can see the benefits of it and the app for mobile devices. It eats a battery up quick with wifi and everything active. I turn everything off and run time lapse. Put it up and forget about it.

It's fun. It's a stationary rig so it requires a little effort. Pretty fun to run and pull making the kite rise and fall for height adjustments. I got a few shots were the line runs between buildings and you cant see me...as if the kite was tied to a door knob or something. I attemted to walk 1st st. North through Jax Beach, but an officer had other ideas...so I jumped out for a block..then back on the beach. Sort of a stair step pattern , in and out. Time just disappeared. Before I knew it ...4 hours were gone. I rode way to high on this run. The Gopro takes such a big shot..still learning were the camera needs to be. By the way, the 3rd shot on the bottom is my night fly spot from so many photos

So I got the new camera. GoPro 3+ black and immediately made a rig from the packaging that night. The following day I met a friend who is a hard core kap fan (kapnut) in historic St.Augustine,Florida for some fun. He was nice enough to provide me with a loaner kite..a Fled. As we all know, I felt naked and 3 lines short What great fun! I pushed about 400' of line out and my new camera floating in the 300' range at one location (cross is 280' high)and walked the sea wall next to a historic fort Castillo de San Marcos and down the road along the sea wall with water on one side and traffic on the other.. Close to 600 pics total on a 5 second time lapse. The highest I have ever flown a slk...much less kite and camera. Most of the pics are fairly large and haven't had the chance to reduce the size. So here are a couple for a start. Unfortunately, these had to be cropped to fit the size requirment and keep the detail.

Ya...commercial thing. Stupid...cause you can take pics with 20000 worth of camera equipment off the ground with no issues. No worries I can kap that fort after hours or from the sidewalk.(public property)
-
...to prove once and for all "We don't need no stinking wind" Zen or not
-
Hope to see you there....you can get an answer from JB in person
-
Not only there. Today I was run off a National Parks service fort location by an armed ranger...after the unarmed ranger didn't like my comment of "ok, the sidewalk is public property right?" ....with no reply. The camera was not even on.Just testing rig performance and kite before a real session. Kites are ok ...but once you add the camera. It becomes a commercial unmanned aircraft and forbidden from use. Drones were the cause of this change....

Cath or Elliot at http://www.flyingsmileskites.com would be more than happy in helping you. Also the maker of the line can provide it http://www.shantikites.com I have found alot of shops have bulk line and alot more available items than what is listed online. Sometimes the best bet....is just too call and ask.

You hit the head. ....it takes more gross raw product to make kite line. The way the 2 lines are made to react, lifespan, etc...is all different. I believe the weave is actually different also....but don't hold me to that one. I have never flown any of the fishing line.. .so I can't comment on that end...started with LPG...now playing on Skybond. My concerns would be others also. ..main reason why I don't use it and started making lines for others.

Depends on how much you like working....I have flown mine on 100' lines when I felt a a B on same lines was too much work. It will lay out and glide forever...maybe even pull a top line in the glide and get it to circle around...back down wind. If you continue flying it.....it will grow on you....even as a static flyer and will help tons with 4 line tension control.. It's a heavy kite...but has great air management. ..the l.e is designed different as you well know.. it flies pretty darn good ...even down to the low single digits. Not full performance mind you...but lower than you would ever expect something that size and weight.
-
Those mph.....it's going to be a workout flying static. No matter what you do It will still shed power. ..but brake better..give and take. On a buggy or something moving...I think stock would work well as designed. But static flying....it's just full of grunt...and wants to lay it on you as quick as possible.
-
Example....the stock setup has no where enough whoooooaaa.. it is setup to shed air and power by releasing tension on the brakes. By swapping the leader setup. ..you obtain a more comfortable and familiar flight style and handle position...imho. video is 4/6mph tops 2/4:
-
Originally. ...my Power Blast 2/4 had 4 equal short leaders, carbon handles. The handles are now converted to no snag via the drywall anchor method and have a leader setup identical to what I fly all revolutions with. It pulls like a truck .... dont expect to get B style flight. Think of it as a cross between a Rev and a 4 meter quad foil. Try more dual line style flying.. more left an right arm movement combined with handle movement. In light wind..it can be flown more traditionally. ..via handle movements. But it still pulls like a truck ! It likes a more flowing style of flight....maintaining sail pressure at all times....let the tops out and ride the brakes more than you are used to with B style flight
-
In no way blasting a product at all. Just passing along my views and experiences for others to use in their decisions. I will never own one due to the fact I am not a collector..but a flyer. I only own what I fly regularly. Revs are top of the list...I don't see any other quads that match what a Revolution kite does...and the "feel". But just as I am free to express my thoughts..you deserve the same right. From my post on the forums...you can clearly see I believe in trying things...it was almost a quote in fact. Good day sir....
-
There is a market there..he makes good kites. Just not for me. I have never flown it..don't intend to unless it's opk. I already know how it handles and flies from the design. I'm sure there are those that praise the kite... my 1 kite sale won't hurt him.
