Ok this one definitely needs to be sent to Colorado. Western slope or Eastern, doesn’t matter. Good luck everyone. Sent from my IPhone -

Is flying Kites a cheap hobby? No, you get what you pay for. Compared to my other hobbies becoming a kite collector is a lot less expensive then other activities I participated in. Bought 2 dirt bikes for my son and myself which cost more than I’ll spend on Kites in my entire life time. Camping gear is in the same category as the bikes now. Had to have a toyhauler to haul the bikes, oh ya wife’s atv, in. Fishing gear, probably spent a couple thousand over the years and barely use any of it anymore. So in the grand scheme of things my kite addiction is relatively cheap, and safer then my other hobbies. Oh ya then there was the side by side I rolled 9 times and almost died. $20,000 Grand down the drain plus all the doctor bills. Seems to me that flying Kites and sharing with anyone interested is a way better investment of my time and money. Can one ever have to many Kites? Sent from my IPhone

I absolutely love my ProDancer in light wind. I also have a UL Solus and a SUL Lam Hoac ATM and a UL acrobatx. They all have different characteristics. In 1 mph the ProDancer takes the least amount of effort to keep in the Sky. Another option is JB’s new kite that will be out in February. Oh ya I have several quads you are welcome to try as well. We need to meet up this spring. Let me know if your heading to any kite festivals on the front range and maybe I can talk my wife into letting me go. In June we are moving to the Oregon coast so it will have to be before then. Sent from my IPhone

Once you get a SUL you will look forward to the 1 to 2 mph days. I haven’t flown the niknak but have a Pro Dancer from Skyburner and it is amazing in light wind. [emoji100] Sent from my IPhone

Win: JB for a Weekend (5/15/2018)

If you are the fence about buying tickets just do it!! This was hands down the best experience I’ve ever had flying kites! John went out of his way to make sure he listened to all our needs. He spent countless hours just letting us fly and coaching us! He was not afraid to teach us any of his secrets and was an open book. We enjoyed the countless hours we spend just talking and getting to know each other as well. To just sit and watch him fly both indoors and out was so awesome! He was also such a great sport to tag along on some family obligations which we were able to get some flying in as well that day. He could not have been an easier guest in our home. He is so genuine and easy going it takes just a minute to feel right at home with him. In a nutshell go for it! This will be something you’ll never regret! Sent from my IPhone- 61 replies

Yes it is Lisa. A little tape and the sail will be fine. Sent from my IPhone

Jack my 14 year old son was flying the Fulcrum today in 3 to 5 mph wind. We had the “light” frame in and it broke. He flew to the top of the wind window slowly, turned the kite 180 and was about 1/2 way down and the kite folded in half. Ok no big deal I thought. I’ll just put the heavier center section in and he can keep flying. When I approached the kite I immediately saw a 1” hole in the sail. Not having any tape to fix it I put it away. My advice is to watch out in light wind with the light center section installed. I will not be replacing it but will continue to use the 2 outer light wind sections with the heavier center section in light wind. 3 mph to 5mph. Sent from my IPhone

Wishful thinking Riff. This ones coming to Colorado. [emoji847] Sent from my IPhone

They come with pieces in the ends that fit in revs end caps. I have all three but haven’t flown with them but a couple times so can’t really comment on performance. Couldn’t pass up 3 frames, cxl 150, 250 and 350 for $75. Can’t beat the price. Sent from my IPhone

So bad. I don’t think so you have an awesome collection so far keep it up. Sent from my IPhone

I’ve been using 90lb 120 ft lines. I had to move my top lines 3 knots in to get power Sent from my IPhone

The rods are way different. The 3 piece rod that we are used to is the leading edge on a rev. In the Fulcrum the center is on the front of the kite and the 2 outside pieces go thru the sail and come out on the backside of the kite. You also have four upright spars that stay in the kite that get pressure put on them by four standoff’s that attache to the three piece “leading edge” rods Sent from my IPhone

I have a Fulcrum and it is very fun quad to fly. It pulls hard in 10 mph wind. It flys very precise and you can fly in reverse at full speed without one wing folding. It is hard to get it to side slide like the rev. Not sure what line is recommended but I’ll switch to 150 lb if I’m flying it in wind over 10 to 12. It is definitely different than the 1.5’s I’ve been flying. It’s very easy to fly straight lines across the sky due to the shape of the wings. With the light frame I was easily able to fly in 3 or 4 mph wind. In lighter wind you can get it to float on its back when reversing downward from the center of the wind window. It is definitely a good addition to my quad collection and is a blast to fly. Sent from my IPhone

You know I don’t know exactly what material it is but I’m pretty sure it’s thicker than the PDSUL. I know with my duel line Kites the Lam Hoac SUL ATM is rated down to 3 mph where as my Sky Burner Solus UL is rated down to 2 mph. It’s seems like the material on the ATM Kites is thicker than the Solus Kites. Both are definitely quality Kites. Sent from my IPhone

I think you flew mine Wayne and I believe it is poly. I know my Sul ATM and STD ATM are the same material, the SUL just has a lighter frame. Sent from my IPhone
