  1. Congrats Marcus! Have fun flying!!
  2. Nick, look closely at the second picture. Look at the bridle set-up. You can stack top to bottom also, but that involves more frame modification than side by side. So, it's basically flying as a single sail? What is the attachment point on the frame ends?
  3. Sometimes I wonder if life would be simpler... Actually, I know it would.
  4. Go ahead and call it Nick. If I had it on Saturday I might would have known what my actual wind speed on the boat was before I broke my line and crashed into the lake.
  5. My wife wanted a Vinyl cutter for her birthday. When the box came I saw,"...variety of materials-from vinyl to fabric-up to 12"..." Well, rip stop is about as thin as fabric gets. This may be fun. And a proof of concept with wax paper.
  6. I'm in! I am so totally in. I about turned my 4D inside out earlier.
  7. I was hoping that after I win the Rev raffle I'd be able to come down, but I'm going to be headed the other way to KY that weekend.
  8. Right now the only new P4s I've found are going for $270. The Snapshot 2.5 is down around $175. The Tensor 3.1 is around $350. That puts the P4 out and makes the 2.5 look pretty good. I'm not in the market yet, but hope to be.
  9. I made a standard box kite from mylar many years ago. It does get attention, very showy! So forty 10" diamonds in a train is a good idea? Should be really cool. Just remember that 40 10-inch diamonds will pull like 1 400-inch diamond! (Area, not dimension) I've been thinking about that. I have more reading to do on it. Would I bridle the pilot and run the line through the cross of the rest or bridle them all?
  10. Here is a pinned topic on the topic. http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/1588-quad-line-or-dual-line/?view=getnewpost
  11. The Tensor series does look good and I agree with the new tech reasoning.
  12. I'm partial to Prism kites and am considering a smaller power kite. I'm not interested in boarding, buggying, etc. but wouldn't be opposed to being dragged when the wind comes up. Of the older P4, the Snapshot 2.5, and the Tensor 3.1 which one would you choose and why. Assume that the first 2 would be converted to 4 line control.

  14. Ok, I'm thinking about a train of small diamonds. They would be assembled and stored in a stack. That should alleviate the crunching.
  15. I'm gonna bring this one back to the top. I was wondering about Mylar, specifically the emergency blanket metallic Mylar. How is it for a sail material on small ultralights?
  16. Keep an eye on e-Bay. Once in a while some nice used ones with lines and handles show up there. Also, get on the Rev forum. Look in the kites for sale topics here and there. You can also check the AKA (American Kiteflyers Association) forum. There are also frequent raffles on these forums; you might get lucky. Yup, there is a Rev raffle on AKA right now. You would have to buy a AKA membership and buy raffle tickets though.
  17. Thanks Ralph. I hadn't though about the cost approaching the 3.1 after conversion. I think I've found some Stylus P4's in stock online. That's something else to think about. I think they come with 2 line control as well though.
  18. Thank you Ralph. I don't know how much longer I was going to last.
  19. It was his Colibri XL that caught my attention. Man, it would be awesome to fly that from a tower or steep peak(with a personal tether) so you could go below horizontal. Then I found the speed kites and then the Wraith. He will truly be talked about for some time to come.
  20. If you go with a dual line, I think the Prism Quantum would be a good choice and gets you in on the lower end of budget. I can't help with quad lines. I know Revolution kites are quite popular. I think they are higher priced though. Someone will likely be in shortly that can help you out there. Edit: Well, it looks like at least one of the Revs is right at the $200 mark. It's on sale from one retailer just below that right now. There is also a drawing from one here on the forum coming up this Saturday. http://kitelife.com/forum/topic/6510-custom-b-series-std-8115/
  21. Wow, his profile shows him as being 44. My dad passed just shy of 49. It's tough. Thoughts are with the family. Edit: Whoa, I was just looking at his FB profile and his kites this week.
  22. The machine chose #2. Congratulations Nick!!
  23. Heads up! Drawing will be sometime tomorrow morning between when I wake up and when I remember. If the chosen party is quick on the draw I'll try to get it out same day.
  24. It can't be a country song. There's nothing about momma, gettin' drunk, pickup trucks, trains, or prison. You forgot a dog, and a river helps sometimes.
