Unless there was a backround change to Kitelife, it is almost certainly Windows updates that did this to you, Nick. It is what it is... you want your security updates, that's certainly not a bad thing. I make my living figuring stuff like this out for my customers. Sometimes it's the firewall, sometimes it's the network, and sometimes it's the workstation. Every day, it's a puzzle.

Splitting my personal web activity onto another browser was easy to get used to. I do my work on IE, and the rest on Chrome. Shrug my shoulders & move on... 8)

Yeah Rob, I understand all of that, and I am using Firefox now, just for Kitelife. I suppose what I don't understand, is why things work over on the test forum (see post #23 above), which Kitelife is cloned from, yet when I come back here to Kitelife, I can't input anything, not even a reply to a PM. It just doesn't make sense, and that is now confirmed on 4 computers, using XP & IE8, as well as Vista & IE9. As you may have seen in an earlier post from yesterday, I can function on the iPad, and my initial assumption about that, may have been my fault (that's a whole nother story), but everything else, I have double and triple checked, and there is definitely a problem . There is something that has changed, or is different, somewhere between the test site, and the actual Kitelife site. It's just a matter of time before somebody runs across it. I don't think that I can be the only person having problems, as a couple of other people have come forward, but from John's stand point, it's probably not enough problems out there, to justify pulling the plug and starting over. I can't blame him for sure. He's been nothing short of great, in trying his best to help me. It's just that I know he doesn't have the time for this kind of thing now, and I surely understand that. As I told Wayne (SS), it's just more of an inconvenience, than it is a problem. I'm just accustomed to using one browser for everything, but as you have done, I too can adapt.............thanks for your input and support :ani_victory:

Argh, I've been back and forth with tech support trying to figure this out with no luck so far...

I realize it's a problem, trying my best.

Hey John,

I'm kinda warming up to FireFox :cat: now, so don't pull your hair out over this thing. I haven't quite made it my default browser yet, but I'm close. I'm sure there's some little petty glitch, that's causing the problems with IE, here, verses over on the test site, but again, don't miss any sleep over it. I'm certainly not :ani_sleep:.

Oh, and I had that bourbon for you....last night :big_beer: so cheers mate. Take a load off !

ps.............Hope you got good news on the old shoulder...........

From IPS (forum tech support):

Hello, it only seems to be effecting users on winxp and vista with ie8... the problem is we can't duplicate this... and if we can't duplicate it, it's very hard to see what the problem is. We would have to suggest the users effected use a modern operating system and/or browser. However with that said, the issue is clearly on the users end as we can't duplicate this even using the same browser version.

Not sure where to go from here... :(

John & Spence tried to help me out when I had my IE issues, but after going around & around, I gave in to using Chrome. We all wrote it off to the way I had my machines configured for work purposes (high security). There's a security setting that's off in your IE, I'd be willing to bet. Have you tried adding Kitelife to your 'trusted sites' list ? That would be my first guess, also make sure the security level for your trusted sites is set for low.

BTW, I notice this page is 'https' instead of 'http'... has it always been like that, or is that something new ?

You're onto it with the https, we just caught on a couple hours ago.

Okay, log out, empty your cache and go to - http://www.kitelife.com/forum (without the s)

You can also use the Login button on the main KiteLife page, it's been edited to remove the s.

Log in and come back here, let me know if that resolves the issues?

Eureka ! Hey John, you've finally hit on it. You mentioned the https: thing last week, but I did not understand all of that stuff, only knew it was different from http: That's what they (IPS) said changed, way back when we began this fiasco. Here, here!

But whatever, nevermind, that did it. I am now posting with Windows XP & IE8 , you know, that archacic "operating system & browser", that IPS was referring to. But I just bet, that jynx and baloo can also post, NOW......cheers man...go have a bourbon on me......

Yep, fixed for me too now FANDABADOZIE.

Some folks are going to ask you to stop me again though.

Back to the banter on the kite drawings.

Thanks to all who pondered and fixed this. I knew you would get it sorted.

I think I have it turned back on for logins, Nick, you having any problems with it now?

NOPE.........no problems here :ani_victory: and I think Baloo is happy too. How about Jynx ? Maybe she'll chime in soon.

Now as for the "s", I did sign out, close my browser (IE8), and then sign back in, but I never saw the "s", so if that's a problem for someone (it's not for me), you may want to take another look at that, but otherwise, everything seems to be back to normal.

In addition, I did the same thing over on FireFox, and YES indeed, the "s" showed up, during the Sign-In process, and then went away. Again, not sure if this is an issue, but it is a noticeable difference, between the two browsers.

But I'm happy either way.........you've converted me over to FireFox, during all of this :cat:

This is how people become rabid fanatics about one OS or browser or app. One good thing happens and all other OS/browser/Apps become DIRT!!! :ani_rtfm:

I seem to change browsers every couple of years. I change for some reason (soon forgotten) and it's like the other browsers never were (until the next change).
