Hi all, I just picked up a Rev 1 from the early 90's. I hear that back in the day rev used different line lengths unlike today. Are there any modifications I need to make to the kite to fly it with todays line setups? thanks.post-3887-0-60193900-1424126801_thumb.jp

If you use the original lines and handles, then the answer is no. If you fly it with newer lines that are equal length you can make extensions that you can attach to, I believe, the bottoms of the bridle line, but I'm not certain. I think Wayne Dowler knows. He'll probably chime in on this soon if no one else does.

Thanks mark. I will make some leaders up to just have. Yeah Wayne probably will, he lives about 5 min from me so I know he is flying right now. I wanted to go but I am supposed to be doing homework. lol. Thanks

Looking at the bridle you will need to add about 8" of pigtail to the top using modern line sets. But also looking in the picture at the handles and lineset on the wooden winder it is probably set to fly as it is, the longer lines on the wooden winder will go on the top/forward. I have a rev1 the same colors and probably the same era if yours have the 4 piece end caps. They are fun to fly, to me they fly slow and graceful.

Either make the leaders to make up the difference or get a new style bridle and just keep the old one for history. One set of longer leaders will do for all the equal line sets, if you go that route! I think I remember helping someone with an old Rev !, we got it flying with newer lines by pulling the bottoms as far in as we could, and letting the tops out all the way. Depends on if you have long top leaders!

How about frame? I have a race frame for a rev one. Yes, just got another pair of sky claw. The handles pictured will not be used. I want to fly this with my current (Todays standards) line set. Thanks

Rev 1 used to come standard with 11" handles (still got mine)! Rev II came with 9" (still got those too)! Circa 1997-8.

The race frame works good, but keep an eye on the LE. Too much bend and you'll want to put a stronger frame up. Remember - you've got a 9' wing out there!!

I recently purchased the same set-up, only pink & purple. With enough wind it flew just fine. I did add pigtails top & bottom, so I can use my regular equalized lines.

I am going to equalize & sleeve the lines, and buy a new style bridle. sml_gallery_8033_382_10751.jpg

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but a friend (Chuck Wiley) actually took the time to up-scale a 1.5 bridle to Rev I size and it felt really good, possibly better in my hands - just thought I'd mention it for more fun fodder. :)

Oh, and this...
