  1. With that, what determines a glider? Construction, intended purpose or conditions flown in? In theory, I believe the definition of a glider is, well, gliding... With a release or a toss, can the kite glide? Gliding is the principle that allows the reeling in and out which is so useful for indoor and urban flying, as opposed to *always moving your body*. $.0114 worth.
  2. If I'm outdoors, I'm on a Rev (STD or Indoor) with short lines.
  3. More information on the NKM website, and their Facebook page... http://www.nationalkitemonth.org http://www.facebook.com/NationalKiteMonth
  4. WOW - that's awesome Jim, looks really great!
  5. Looking forward to it Rob, Watty and I will be at the LaVoyageur, on the field Fri/Sat/Sun and most of Monday. Track us down, let's have some fun!
  6. Aye, related discussion on the Tapatalk forum... Seems an uninstall/reinstall is the right step. http://support.tapatalk.com/threads/tapatalk-displays-br-br-instead-of-line-break.17351/
  7. LOL! Yeah, not quite yet. As for unexpected changes in plans, yes, I have unfailing faith in "all things at the right time"... It simply wasn't time, there's something else to do here from Portland, I'm just waiting to see what it will be. <grin> In another year or two, maybe try for LB again, it's still in our sights.
  8. Sorry to have mixed signals here - the original drive in this topic is/was still active in theory, although we're not doing any drawings on it at the moment... We've initiated refunds toward specific Move KiteLife to Long Beach donations made using the GoFundMe service I'd set up. *feeling sheepish*
  9. And another raffle, a sneak release of the new AKA kit kits to be offered through the General Store very soon! http://kite.org/raffles/2013-march-diamond-kite-kits/
  10. Hello all, I am writing first to thank you for your show of faith and donation toward KiteLife's move to Long Beach, your participation at a time of need is appreciated beyond words. That being said, I must also provide and important update that you should be aware of. My personal life is evolving quite a lot as my wife TK and I are building our world together... TK is Japanese-born (immigrated here just 3 years ago), and we've come to the late realization that Long Beach has no Japanese community available, which is very integral to my wife's happiness and personal employment, making it clearly integral to my own happiness. With that in mind, we'll *still* be moving our base of operations but it's likely to be in greater Portland... Hopefully nearer to open fields with a larger place (office and kite workshop) due to lower rent/own costs closer the edge of Portland proper, but our previous goal of integrating with the Long Beach community just won't be possible. The move (and travel to/from the beach) will still require added resources (purchase of a vehicle, setting up a kite workshop, etc), but this is NOT the plan you knowingly supported so we are refunding your entire donation. We have already refunded almost of the Long Beach donations, either as a reversal through the fundraising service (if done in the last 45 days or so) or via PayPal, and the remainder ($105 total) will be refunded once the donors have responded with payment information. Deepest apologies for the significant change in plans, but we wanted to be 100% on the up and up. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
  11. Updated TapaTalk to the latest version.
  12. Great, and thanks for keeping after us on this EG.
  13. Hi all, Is the Rev main site and forum loading a little faster for you now? We did some pretty major upgrades to the server, hoping it's noticeable on your end.
  14. Hi, sorry for getting here late, but this might be a useful reference... http://www.kitelife.com/general-topics/buy-sell-trade-used-kites/ Nice kites BTW, big fan of the Shiva personally, I've flown both it and the Tramontana in competition.
  15. Thanks (really) but the lion's share of the credit goes to Marla and the donors, I'm just the guy with broadcast channels going "rah rah!"
  16. FYI - the AKA raffle for March (to be drawn on 4/1/13) is for a single-winner Prism Package, including: Zephyr Zero-G 4-D
  17. Just cross-posting a link to the raffle for AKA members - inexpensive tickets, really GREAT the stuff coming in from a bunch of manufacturers who believe in the organization and are actively supporting it! http://kite.org/raffles/ Look for excellent raffles on a near monthly basis moving forward, the AKA is a volunteer organization that provides a backbone of festival support, networking, club services and so much more, if you love kites and what they do for people as a whole - it really can use all the support you're willing to give. If you're not a member and would like to check it out... Membership info - http://kite.org/about/join-online/ Direct sign up - http://aka.kite.org/aboutus/join-the-aka/become-a-member/registers I'm a proud member since 1990 - while every organization has its ups and downs, this one ultimately supports something I hold very near and dear to my heart, and its also something that I feel is beneficial and wholesome as a general pastime, regardless of anything else. Note: as of this writing, some functionality issues are being worked out with the AKA forum and membership system, so if you (a) have any problem accessing the "buy tickets" portion or ( the members forum in general, please DO give the AKA home office a call (609-755-5483) and speak with Mel so he can get you sorted out. You can also send an email to waysandmeans -at- aka.kite.org (replace @) with your name and phone number, if you'd like personal assistance from friendly raffle coordinator Marla Miller. Cheers and good luck!
  18. No new goodies from KP, sorry - just sunburn and a grin. Still, will be working to rally up some new and unusual items whenever possible. To be fair though, I'm utilizing most of those connections for the new AKA raffles (will post about this separately).
  19. Watty's got it, sorry.
  20. Added the Pterodactyl by Karl Longbottom.
  21. Awesome Scott! The shirt was a bonus, still had a couple rattling around in the prize box. Cheers, enjoy, post photos or video!
  22. Just wait until you try the MID or VTD B2, like buttah.
  23. I know some of you are there already, but does everyone else know about the Glider Geeks group on Facebook? https://www.facebook.com/groups/232378193482957/
