  1. As far as your choice of 1st quad line should you decide to experience it... I agree with Doug, the 1.5 SLE is an ideal choice to start with... Once you get the hang of it and aren't crashing hard any longer, I would see about getting a standard diameter leading edge for lighter winds. While beginners and intermediates won't notice in most cases, the heavier SLE rod lends the tiniest bit of inertia to your rotations, making super fine clockwork and such a little more challenging... It doesn't have much affect on slides or hovers, and reverse flight is fine for the most part. My personal quad of choice is the Revolution 1, due to it's absolute degree of possible control... For precise flight and maneuvers, I'll put it up against a Rev 1.5 any day.
  2. Near the bottom of each page (comp & demo), there is a series of links like this: *MAC users can browse the video folders below*MIB - MPB - MTP - MTB - DEMO These links will take you straight into the file folders containing the videos. A note however, the videos may nnot have worked when you tried due to a massive influx of visitors we had over the last week... To the tune of 8,600 in one day! Nearly blew our bandwidth out of the water, so I "hid" the videos on and off for two days... Everything is back in order now, you might try the normal route first. Thanks.
  3. For a great example of what a Revolution is capable of, check this out: http://kitelife.com/videos/demo/wsikf2004_jb-bugs.htm For a comparable display of dual line flying, look here: http://kitelife.com/videos/mib/richarddebr...p2001mib1st.htm
  4. If you can do her whole routine in about 10MB, using MPG or WMV format, we can put it in the demo archives... Our next issue doesn't come out until 4/1, so you'd have to get the word out, but we can put 'er on line.

  9. Dunno about the Parks, but Lam and I will be there Tuesday night through most of Sunday.
  10. Lam will be there on Saturday... He and I go down on Tuesday, leaving Sunday.
  11. Hey Terry, and chance of photos and a report from the event? We've had it in Kitelife the 2 years prior, we'd love to feature it again. Let me know.
  12. If you haven't heard through the pipeline already, the script is running GREAT and ready for use... http://photofiles.kitelife.com
  13. WOW! Great stuff Mike... I'm really drooling over the stack of Nagel Hypers! Do you have anyone written into your will for those yet? A truly beautiful collection, thank you for sharing with us! For ya'll who haven't seen this yet... http://kitelife.com/photos/index.php?cat=10041
  14. I have one... The way it is designed does not make it easy to put together, and it does pop apart sometimes. As you get better, it won't hit stuff as much, and will come apart less. Don't give up!
  15. Hi Kelly, good to have you on the forum... Perhaps you could do a report and photos from the event for Kitelife?
  16. Good news, it looks like the new version of our gallery is WAY more user-friendly and functional... I'm still working out that one little kink, and will hopefully have it back up and available by the middle of next week.
  17. I'm leave tomorrow morning to cover Kite Party in Huntington Beach over the weekend, but I wanted to let you know that PhotoFiles may be down for a few days while we do a much needed upgrade to resolve some issues with users not being able to upload their photos to the gallery. http://photofiles.kitelife.com Hopefully I'll get it all taken care of tonight, but I wanted to let you all know just in case. Thanks for your patience and support!
  18. We'll have a heck of a report too... I plan on shooting TONS of photos, usually 900-1,000 at an event like this, and a full size article. Thank you very much Mario... I took over Kitelife beginning with issue 28, and have really worked hard to always be growing "outside of the box"... Striving for more.
  19. Small packages... You know, I think he was still smaller than me way back when I started flying! He'll be at Kite Party this weekend too... He gets in on Wednesday, I'll be there Thursday through Sunday. Time to...
  20. I'll be at Lincoln City... Lam is flying into Portland on that Tuesday, I'm meeting him at the airport, and we're driving down together... Staying in LC through Sunday.
  21. Moon, my assistant editor Dave "Geezer" Shattuck and I all share a house in Portland... The dedicated Kitelife office is in the basement.
  22. Not so far off really... That's one of the things I've long enjoyed about the kiting world, growing up in the community from when I started flying at 15 to my current age of 29 has been the coolest part of my life bar none. Kites are something that somehow, some way, provide fertile ground for a social aspect I have yet to discover in in any consistent amount anywhere else... Something more mutually accepting and encouraging. If you haven't been to a major kite event yet, take the next chance you get... And leave your six shooters at home, they won't be needed. Our pets: Dogs are Sinsi (lab/husky), Indy (chow/shepherd) and Capone (boston terrier/chihuahua)... Cats are Magik (black with white mittens), Khaya (fluffy grey) and Kozmo (black/white with one green eye and one blue eye)... Ferrets are Podo, Kodo and Ono... Snake is Sam.
  23. I completely understand... It takes patience, and self-observance. Remember: 1. Kitefliers are generally a cool bunch. 2. The occasional a**hole is generally best not even responded to. 3. Read each of your own posts before posting, as if you were someone else. You'll find a comfortable manner, no worries. .. .. Sorry to hear about your furry friend... Here at the house we have 3 dogs, 3 cats, 3 ferrets and a snake... I can empathize, and then some!
  24. Naturally, the real advantage comes when you have a reliable sense of what each of the people you research with actually prefer for their own flying styles... Then you can read between the lines and know they like certain traits, and just do the math. I have to second... "if you choose to relate your experiences distill it down to objective, credible observations" Delivery is everything... Lay down universal facts, then follow up with personal preferences or experiences for context... Much more effective. I'd like to think I've developed a fair sense of your ultimate intent Mario, and I can dig it... Just looking to tune up the presentation a bit so your information can be better utilized and less often be lost amid "he said, she said" debates.
  25. I second that emotion... Wonderful first year event! Went off without a hitch, and was an absolute blast... Definitely get this event on your schedule for next year!
