  1. We're pleased to announce that Lam Hoac has finally made his kites widely available at significantly lower prices, for the same great products! http://www.skysportdesign.com If you place any orders, please include in the comments that you saw it here and a percentage of your sale will go towards our efforts here at Kitelife! I myself have selected Lam's new Sea Devil for my 2005 competition season, they are definitely worth a look at these prices!
  2. I just heard that Moses Lake has been canceled... Not sure why.
  3. We're pleased to yet again announce the next prize being given away to our most appreciated supporters, the Kitelife Subscribers... For roughly 10 cents per day they play a major role in keeping KL growing in every way. E2 sport kite, thanks to The Kite Connection! You can sign up here. Odds of winning for this prize is currently 1/112, and will be drawn on April 25th! http://www.kitelife.com/prizes/prism-e2_41/ Our thanks, and the very best to you!
  4. Drum roll please... The winner of this great prize is: Allen Taylor - Subscriber #80 Congratulations Allen!! Our new prize(s) will be announced within the hour.
  5. I'll be in Lincoln City through the 27th, so I'll personally be "off line" until Sundy night or Monday morning.
  6. No worries Fred, keep flying!
  7. I may not have been clear, the shortage of quad foils I was referring to was with regard to those made simply for the fun of flying... The power kites have obviously been doing quite well, but the majority of them are more kite than Phil might be looking for. I could be mistaken, but that was my understanding.
  8. Hi Phil, Quad foils have become far less popular since their heyday in the early 90's... As have many other quad variations we've seen in our time. As for reviews, the hardest thing we've found is either getting this kites to test or finding a panel of fliers who can objectively handle the testing. The next issue of Kitelife will have 2 or 3 reviews, the most we've had in awhile.
  9. You'll be applying a little less forward and reverse on Decas as opposed to the Rev series... It's a fine touch, and will take a minute to get used to. I never spent the time to adjust, but I knew a guy by the name of Sandy Wagner who could fly the %#@$&@ out of it! Clockwork turns, slides, you name it. The main place you'll notice a difference is that slides are darn near impossible due to the way the kite is designed. Yup, my standard was the same way when I got it in 1992... I think that may be par for the course with Decas.
  10. Wen, if I understand correctly... Yes, I'll have my Rev 1's with me but don't know if I'll be using them. The event in Lincoln City is primarily indoor, for which I use other kites.
  11. Each user can select their time zone when creating an account, or through their profile: http://kitelife.com/forum/index.php?act=UserCP&CODE=00 Here on the west coast, we're at -8 Greenwich.
  12. Feels like 5mph on my porch... We'll find out for sure in an hour or two. Delta Park, flying, all day... Come one, come all!
  13. Well, what's the fun in that? Seriously though, we can certainly post her comp video in the KL archives... 10MB would be ideal.
  14. Hi gang, I just uploaded the following videos to our archives: 1987 East Coast SKC (Wildwood) * Lee Sedgwick (famous Lady in Red) * Sue Taft * Eric Wolff * Dan Buxton * Don Tabor * Robbi Sugarman * Ron Reich * Top Of The Line 1996 Great Lakes SKC (Grand Haven) * Sue Taft (dogstake demo) * David Bui (ballet demo) * The Aviators (pairs demo) * Dos Avispas (pairs comp) Comp videos are here... http://www.kitelife.com/videos/index.htm Demo videos are here... http://www.kitelife.com/videos/demos.htm This is some really classic footage, and gives a great look back into our history and our first kiting pioneers... If anyone has Wildwood tapes from other years and are willing to loan them for conversion, please contact me directly or post a reply here! I have secured permission from Roger Chewning to post these on the web. Enjoy!
  15. As far as your choice of 1st quad line should you decide to experience it... I agree with Doug, the 1.5 SLE is an ideal choice to start with... Once you get the hang of it and aren't crashing hard any longer, I would see about getting a standard diameter leading edge for lighter winds. While beginners and intermediates won't notice in most cases, the heavier SLE rod lends the tiniest bit of inertia to your rotations, making super fine clockwork and such a little more challenging... It doesn't have much affect on slides or hovers, and reverse flight is fine for the most part. My personal quad of choice is the Revolution 1, due to it's absolute degree of possible control... For precise flight and maneuvers, I'll put it up against a Rev 1.5 any day.
  16. Near the bottom of each page (comp & demo), there is a series of links like this: *MAC users can browse the video folders below*MIB - MPB - MTP - MTB - DEMO These links will take you straight into the file folders containing the videos. A note however, the videos may nnot have worked when you tried due to a massive influx of visitors we had over the last week... To the tune of 8,600 in one day! Nearly blew our bandwidth out of the water, so I "hid" the videos on and off for two days... Everything is back in order now, you might try the normal route first. Thanks.
  17. For a great example of what a Revolution is capable of, check this out: http://kitelife.com/videos/demo/wsikf2004_jb-bugs.htm For a comparable display of dual line flying, look here: http://kitelife.com/videos/mib/richarddebr...p2001mib1st.htm
  18. If you can do her whole routine in about 10MB, using MPG or WMV format, we can put it in the demo archives... Our next issue doesn't come out until 4/1, so you'd have to get the word out, but we can put 'er on line.
