Kites of old tend to be closer to a 45 degree leading edge (LE) angle at the nose, modern era kites tend to be quite a bit wider than 45 which is good for slack line maneuvers.

Angle of the leading edge is a strong influence on nose / leading edge launches like that... Assuming the same height of kite: Smaller wingspan (steeper) = easier Wider wingspan (shallower) = harder Not always, but generally.

You may find the upturn easier to “learn”, but mechanically, and once you learn a smooth input for it, the under turn 180 is significantly easier, more precise, and loads the sail through the invert instead of passing through the upright (least possible lift of all orientations). My experience, anyway. We use the under turn 180 almost exclusively on my teams, using the up turn 180 only for mega team (especially grid) when dealing with new / novice fliers mixed into the groups.

I was indeed carrying the stretch / wear strip across the mesh, except for some early mods I did. On that note, I am only somewhat sorry to report that we ar discontinuing the upgrade services as of today - with the advent of the Djinn and other kites with these features already included, it’s just not worth the effort for us - that being said, I hope this (continuing) forum topic will serve to assist those who do the upgrades themselves.
