  1. I can't WAIT to see his view of it all! And voila, I'm back in Canada and at home, from what was the wildest 11 day kite vacation I've ever had. Hans, thanks again to you and all of Team4Fun! I'll post pics and stuff soon, and we have footage from the monster 18 Rev mega fly which is nearly beyond words to describe beyond "incredible"
  2. I -really- like short line flying, its a pile of fun. Somewhere I have a writeup on 3D rev flying, ill find it for ya now that I'm back from The French Revolution
  3. I looooooove that song (as you may have guessed!)
  4. Despite being a veteran of boards like this for many years, I only use "view new posts" occasionally. I'm sure if John has an issue with it, he'll comment on it, but, it sounds like you need to go out a fly for a while.
  5. Thanks muchly Ed!
  6. LOL Well, after spending the last 11 days walking on sand in Berck, I feel as old as you are... Kidding of course, but for the record, I turned 42 this year, celebrating it at the awards banquet here. Back home tomorrow
  7. Well, as far as birthdays go, you coudlnt have asked for a better one, it was a great dya from start to verrrrry late finish. No, really, we did try and get away earlier, but, as John knows : "its impossible?" The highlight of the party (you know, besides a Cutting Edge win of course) was Seb from FLIC's indoor flying. Truly jaw dropping flying in a very very small space. And thanls everyone for the birthday wishes.
  8. Well, if he can pop over to Berck next week, I'd be happy to! (You'll notice I also suggested "if alone...)
  9. Is that what you call it when you lock lips with your significant other too? Berck will be Quad Kite Central this year I suspect, there is at least 20 people lined up for the mega fly and if the Japanese show up too, the sky will be the limit. I'm soooooo psyched, especially because of the quad teams in attendance, The Flying Squad, FLIC, Team4Fun. I've never seen any team work in person so, this will be my highlight. And maybe I can join in too! I'l be taking tons of pictures and hours of videotape as well. Mousie and I have bene known to kiss while flying quad together...
  10. Ok, I was being really generous with the time needed...
  11. Heh, Dorsal, you make it seem like its the worst version of the Spanish Inquisition to learn how to fly a Rev, though I do agree, the Spirit is easier to learn on initially, and if alone. If you can manage to get someone to show you the basics, you can have a Rev in the air in 15 minutes too. And, when you get a Spirit down you can move up to a Rev...(kidding, really, i promise!) I like them both, but, I happen to prefer Revs with Spirits being a close second.
  12. Ah, hadnt' even pondered your points before, those are good and valid ones FOUR more days till Berck now!
  13. I have that video buried in a box somewhere, it really helped when I first got it. There's a whole pack of great European flying on this page : http://asaintjouan.free.fr/videos/videos.html
  14. Further news on this, I talked to Lolly @ Rev this afternoon and she knows of a Japanese quad team that are on their way as well... Too cool!
  15. Yoooou betcha, John and I arrive on the first friday of the event and we're there for all of it. Psyched? Oh ya, I can't wait! And yes, we really want to up that count for a mega fly and get iot on film again, it looked great last year!
  16. Oh, it will definitely do that if you want, have no worries at all. I don't currently own one (just not my thing really) but, I have flown more than a few of them over the years and they are a lot of fun. As CTL says, they float nicely and they'll really move if you let them.
  17. Time to return to quad flying again, you can stand still for that
  18. Will John and I be seeing your team at Berck in a week and a half? Great pics! We need to have the worlds largest rev mega fly there....
  19. The best weight for a Backtracker is a five pound brick tied to the bridle for better sinking when I throw it into the Lincoln City lake!
  20. Thats if you don't walk off with them first!
  21. In high wind, I do switch to SLEs, I think both my vented 1 and 1.5 have SLEs in them at the moment. I just tend to oversteer SLEs in lower wind.
  22. I've really grown accustomed to the pleasing (was going to say snap, but thats not it) way the 3/4 wrap regular rods allow the kite to "click" into a stop. For lack of a better description... I havent found that, what I tend to do is check out any kite shop I run across, they often have a few Revs that are older, yet brand new. If I like the sail pattern and colors, I pick it up. But, ya, to get a brand new, this years model, in all nylon, you'd need to get the SUL sail and then a heavier frame for more wind, or, order custom if possible. I think the difference is really only a slightly lighter bridle (as opposed to the old school heavier black cord all around), the sail pattering and the handles. I don't like the EXP handles, the foam is too soft. But, I usually buy my Revs "kite only" as I have a bucket of handles and line as it is. Preference wise, I like the original stainless steel extended handles, I have two sets of those that I use all the time. I bet John has an excellent technical reason, whereas for me, much of it comes down to the look of it just does nothing for me and I figure a kite of all the same material will flex and change shape more consistently. I love my Icarex/toray revs the best, ie, my Sedgewick one and an earlier 1.5 thats nearly flown to death. This year, I'll probably source out another Sedgewick.
  23. Is it time to go yet? No? DAMN. I can't wait, I'm soooo psyched for this trip! (well, the france part, I'm not able to head onto China this time around)
  24. *cough*trilbymouse*cough*
  25. Lam is pretty light too, you may be able to tie him onto your kite if you are at Lincoln City and ask nicely. He has a good strong grip!
