Windless Kites http://www.kitefestival.com/events-workshops.html January 17-18, 2009 This indoor kite-flying extravaganza will again feature the Northwest’s fine performers of flying gracefully to music in a gymnasium. Some fly individually, others work in pairs or trios and still others perform a story with their kites. A special competition is the Hot Tricks Shoot Out where indoor flyers match one crazy flying trick after another. This 9th annual Windless Kite Festival, was started by and is continually organized by Scott Davis, the man wearing formal attire and flying the kite in the picture. Many of his crew comes from the Pierce County Kite Fliers and the Northwest Stunt Kite League. This year’s invited flyer is Scott Weider from Rhode Island, a competitor and first place winner in the nationals. The event is held in the Long Beach School Gymnasium, which is on 4th Street S., and Washington. It’s a great show for watchers and if you’d like to try flying, teachers are happy to help. Sponsors for this year’s event include Rodeway Inn, The Kite Shoppe, City of Long Beach, Ocean Beach School District and the Kite Museum.
  7. Dearest Litsong, A Very Happy Birthday to you!!! With all the time you have spent flying.......I wonder how has your knitting progressed??? He he he Hope you had a wonderful day! Love, T
  8. FYI....a couple of things.... Those vinyl end caps on the upper spreader are NOT meant to be left on the spar when inserting into the ULE APA. (unless it's the wrong size upper spreader, and the end caps are being used to snug up the fit) The end vinyl end caps may have been put on for storage. To keep the spar from poking the sail material when rolled up and stored. OR.....the very small and elusive standoffs may be stored in the upper spreader, with the vinyl end caps put on to keep the standoffs from sliding out. The Kite Shoppe stocks a FULL line of Prism repair parts and accessories for Prism kites. Also, your 3D may be from 1997? I'll have a look at some of mine and see if there is one similar.

  19. Could be a couple reasons why this is happening. First thing I would check: are the fly lines coming off the kite on the correctly....as in...is the right fly line in your right hand, and is the left fly line in your left hand. If these are reversed, the kite will not fly. Second, is the bridle correct? Check to see that it is 'even' on both sides. Meaning, as the line comes off the frame, is it the same distance between each knot/connection on each side. And when you hold the bridle by the knots (the knots on the pigtails where you connect the fly line to the bridle with a larkshead loop) and hold the kite up so it's laying on its back, the kite should lay flat/hoizontal to the ground. Third, is your fly line even length on both sides? check these things, and give it a try again Good luck! Theresa
