  1. Can't go wrong with a set of Black Race rods. Fly down to zero on short lines while still having enough mass to throw around. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  2. Deca's don't come up that often. I bet there will be some serious interest. Edit: I found the travel frame a little heavy. It likes a bit more wind than a normal 3 frame. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  3. When selecting a kite to fly in ultra low winds, less than 4km/h, I will prefer to put a little extra effort in to have a bit more mass in my kite. When flying a B Std with a Diamond frame as opposed to a Black Race frame, I prefer the extra mass of the heavier frame. Sure you have to work a bit harder to keep it in the air BUT the returns come in the form of extra inertia. Like Paul said, it's all compromise. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  4. If you come in one knot towards your handles on the bottom, that is effectively extending your tops out. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  5. Sweet offering. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  6. I've heard that Tim Benson sells parts. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  7. Congrats, and "rok" on...! Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  8. Definitely lean towards a UL rather than a SUL to start with as they are just that bit more robust. Deep Space UL, can't really go wrong with a Benson. If you like it after flying it, there are Std and Vtd options. MXS UL from SKD is another great one. Has a Std and a Strong option. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  9. Experience in low wind will be more advantageous than gear. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  10. Oh, and an Indoor has no leading edge mesh. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  11. For a Rev quad. The Indoor doesn't have a bridle to spread the forces, it is directly mounted to the vertical rods. It is lighter in the frame, 1 wrap carbon rods. It has a shallower V in the centre to give more sail. Essentially it has a greater sail to weight ratio than a SUL. Rev used to make a SUL in the 1.5 size. Same layout just lighter fabric sail cloth and a lighter leading edge fabric. I have a TKC 1.5 SUL that only has the lighter leading edge pocket. If you want to fly in Zero to very light winds on a 1.5 size sail, get a set of Diamond rods. I used to fly my Indoor outside in zero to maybe 2km/h but with some experience I know reserve my Indoor for true Zero wind. I'll reach for my B Standard and a Diamond frame and 30 foot lines. As a "general" rule, the lighter the wind go shorter on your lines. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  12. I wont tie my own leaders anymore now they available in the Kitelife shop. Have 3 (or 4...) sets already. One thing I do with the bottom leaders from KL though. I untie them all the way, cut them in half and just put one knot at the end of all 4 pieces. Then install them at all four connection points. The top leaders go onto the top set-knot and the bottom lines go on to the bottoms. I like just having the short leaders on the bottom. The short ones on top will "wear" instead of the leaders. YMMV. 13. I love Roks! Would love to build a collection of them. This one would be a welcome addition. Go 977!! Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  14. Bottom of handles; Really only need one knot about 13mm or 1/2 inch (depending if you are metric or fractional) out. Top of handles; Overall length approx 300mm/12 inches AFTER knots are tied. You could put 8 or so knots with 13mm space between them. With the "last knot" at the end of your leaders. Material to use could be old bridle line or something similar non stretchy. Even Dacron from a single line kite line. About #90 is a good weight. Most importantly is to make Left and Right spot on even. Sent from my iPad using KiteLife mobile app
  15. The bridle helps distribute the load. The substantially low pressure associated with zero wind means you don't need to distribute the load so much. Also, not using a bridle gives a direct connection input to reaction. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  16. When you get your hands on one, I really recommend you do the mods to it. It's here on the Kitelife web site. Ads personality and control to a great wing. I'll post the link back when I can. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  17. I reckon the wolf is for keeps. Where have I heard a "Wolfpack" reference.... Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  18. Congrats and really cool offering. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  19. Ripstop repair tape. Only needs to be 1/2 inch wide but I'll put it the whole length. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  20. The rubber boots aren't to improve friction but more to act as a sacrificial material to protect the plastic end caps. I found some end caps that have a nylon bolt that threads in that has been working well. My "next" street sail I will put some tape along the Leading Edge. But it will have the full Barresi Treatment. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  21. There's a "Spanish Knot" that allows a loop to be formed/knotted in the line so you can tie that off. Comes off easy when untied. There's a YouTube vid somewhere. If I find it, I'll link it. None of my SLKs need more than #200 line so I just put between 1/2 doz to a dozen wraps around a 'biner and clip to a dog stake. I have used a larkshead on the main line to a knot line around a tree but was a bit of a pain to pull the tension off to release it. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  22. If it's any consolation, I got some pretty good string burn from my first time on a Zero G. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  23. Massive congrats!!! Ohhh, sooooooo close with this one! Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  24. Welcome Polo! I have a PoloVTD in a cool AF grey fade (3202 G1 from memory) and it is truly killer smooth even above 60 kays! Great guy. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
