  1. The Quantum pulls a bit and that is why it comes with #150 line. With experience you can make lighter lines work. 85 feet is a great beginner length. Shorter for lighter winds, longer for heavier is a loose general rule. Heavier lines cause drag to slow a kite but the wind pressure will not change in the sail. I use #50 on my SUL and UL and #90 on my Standard and Vented duals. Lengths vary from 10 to 100 feet. Each line set is labelled for length and strength. 2. They are good fun. They can be a fidley to set up the first time but easy once you get the hang of them. There are positives and negatives to them. If you have them, give them a spin. Easy to add or remove. Well thought out accessory. Sent from my SM-G950F using KiteLife mobile app

  5. iPhone, cool. Now hands down the easiest way to access kitelife is to download the "Kitelife" app. Very easy and self explanatory. The push notifications are good too. Sent from my SM-G950F using KiteLife mobile app
  6. That was cool man! Loved the leaves as the bottom framing. Sent from my SM-G950F using KiteLife mobile app
  7. General Kite Stuff ∆ Open Topic Yep, right spot. Are you accessing on a PC, tablet or phone? I usually go to "unread" posts first to catch up. Then I start digging into the threads. Careful though "Alice, the rabbit hole is d-e-e-p"... Sent from my SM-G950F using KiteLife mobile app
  8. Nice. I like the clean sole look of one colour framed with black. Sent from my SM-G950F using KiteLife mobile app
  9. You don't need an intervention, You need an enabler!!! And this place has them in spades. Sent from my SM-G950F using KiteLife mobile app
  10. Not a forum sponsor so won't post any links, but Antonis from Lumokites makes them. They look the business. Sent from my SM-G950F using KiteLife mobile app
  11. If it's both bigger and heavier than you are used to, it will probably fly in similar winds but be a little sluggish. Bigger sail to fly in less wind. Heavier frame needing more wind. The older kites weren't very efficient in the use of sail pressure so I would guess maybe from 12km/h up. Double yes on the #150 X 85 foot lines. We are a friendly and helpful bunch, just be a little patient. Sent from my SM-G950F using KiteLife mobile app
  12. Set a time limit....lol Click on a section/topic that interests you. Set a preference for "most recent". That way you see the most recent stuff first. Take it from there. Sometimes I'll click on a topic at random just to follow the white rabbit. Sent from my SM-G950F using KiteLife mobile app
  13. Aaaaannnnnnd I'm back. Log out then in didn't work. Deleting and reinstalling did. Sent from my SM-G950F using KiteLife mobile app
  14. My boy and I put on a "show" for the public at a popular beach on the grassed area last week. Was fun. People loved when I followed them slowly in all orientations. Divestops kind of scared them. The moonwalk was a hit. Axels! Sideslide into a super flat axel then BOOM fly off.
  15. Rarely does security bother you at 3am... Here in Oz there isn't the acceptance to use a large indoor space cheaply. I find carparks are a great hit. I would love to do half time at a basketball game. Standby for progress on that.
  16. I'm having some issues with the Android kitelife app. Won't let me log in. Going to delete and reinstall. Usually that works.
  17. New Year's this year topped out just under 90km/h and that was an experience to say the least. Definitely don't do it if you aren't comfortable or have faith in your gear. You can get away with shorter lines in big wind to keep you under the higher layers. Wish I had a stack of Vickie's....
  18. I like "catch and throw" so much I tried ALL the variances of it. Pull low. Pull high. Throw high. Throw low. I love it on 30's. Just banging one after another. I practice using my non dominant arm (left) for a different aspect to some varying results. If I can't pull it out of the sky.... One thing is, when you throw directly down wind be super ready to pop your breaks! Off centre seems a little smoother. If you haven't tried it, give it a go. Just be careful of your fingers when you pull your top lines.
  19. I have one of these beauties, a Rasta. It's a damn decent kite and a quality package. I suspect Dodd's has a little magic in his as it dances much better than mine.... Would be very happy to get this one. Two of the same kite could lead to some "team work"!!!! Sent from my iPad using KiteLife mobile app
  20. An Aussie to the rescue... From personal experience, allow about 2 weeks for delivery. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  21. Sweet! My boy is very keen on the 2 frame for his B! Which is good as this would mean I get my other race frame back... Just noticed this is "stick a fork in me I'm done" ready. Sent from my iPad using KiteLife mobile app
  22. I've flown the SF 2.5 Vented and can say it is a well put together kite. Good balance and visually pleasing. It's a big wing so the UL sail would catch a bit of wind. Best way to find out what a kite comes with if the retailer doesn't specify is to send an email. That way you have it in writing to compare against other packages. As a general rule, you can fly lower on shorter lines. I found if I had two of the same line sets, I would chop done one of them to make 3 in total. And 80 goes to 30 and 50 (there abouts) easy. 23. Above a B Series Vented. A second hand XTRA Vent, as no more are being made. A Phoenix Pro Mega Vent, or A PoloVTD. I have a PoloVTD and have flown comfortably in those winds. Biggest was 80km/h (50miles) and still on the 3 wrap frame. Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  24. Again, WOW! Sent from my iPhone using KiteLife mobile app
  25. Being afraid to fly expensive kites is a really good reason for looking at second hand ones. If they have been around the block a bit, you will be less worried about hurting them and enjoy yourself more. My tip. Set a budget and look for s used full size. Even ask if anyone has one they don't fly much. When I first got into kites I was shocked at how much people would spend on a kite, but now it just means I save a little longer...
