  1. Don't forget that knots reduce a lines strength.
  2. Even luck won't help, random cares not for karma, dogma or even worthiness. Still, wouldn't mind this one at all. 977
  3. First thing, crashes are nowhere near as bad as they 1) sound and 2) look. Main thing if you going to crash is give to the kite. That is, push both arms out towards the kite, take a couple of steps towards the kite or both. This takes the wind pressure out of the sails and takes the power with it. When I first flew my EXP, that first crash I thought "that's it I've stuffed it" but it and I survived. Handles: The longer the handle the more amplification your hand movements have on the kite. Think the greater arc of a circle. Rev handles are measured by the length of the rod used NOT the length between the tips. Most common on 1.5's is 13". Smaller handles for the "faster kites" eg B2 and Speed series. Bigger handles for lighter winds. Most pilots start off with a Standard, full sail, then a Vtd or full vented. This covers a huge wind range. A standard will go to 20 but that is very high and you risk stretching the sail. That's a one way street. My little B2 Std will do that range but it wouldn't be ideal as a first Rev. Hope this helps.
  4. Every time I'm solo I play music. When flying pairs I prefer banter. Mix up your playlist to add another dimension.
  5. My kids do that with my Symphony, BOOM! They love it.
  6. Well it's been more than a week.... Haven't put it into the air YET. I've put in the tow attachment points, carefully measured to be equal. I'll still treat the bow set up as normal with a little extra in the bottom, I can always equalise that in the field. I'll use my short lines first and a relatively gentle breeze just in case....
  7. There is a Review of a HQ Symphony beach in the review section. I love that little foil. I think at that end of the scale that they would be pretty much the same. Personal preference for branding and colours really.
  8. After the renew issues, am I still #977?
  9. Great idea, lots of warm fuzzies all round!
  10. At that length, does #50 have an advantage over #90? If so, what are they? I do realize opinions vary, so post them all.
  11. Curious to know how long your lines are for some "urban kiting".
  12. If they are joined by ferrules, just the normal way. Hard explain, for me, but there is a tutorial here about changing frames. You'll see it and think "derr that is easy, why didn't I know it!"
  13. yeah but image size is limited to 49 microns....
  14. Give me a week. Should have a photo or video....Fail or succes. Watch this space.
  15. The banter is only just second to the flying!!
  16. .... given a set of handles and made to stand in a line....
  17. It's a little daunting that first time. Just remember, all knots can be reversed! Good fun. Breathe.
  18. I use the same frame set up as Wayne, but I will "brake" a kite higher before I change sails as I love that powered kite feeling. I've had my B2 Std in 20mph+! Having said that, I will use my Mid in a greater range than my Std or Vtd. I try not to worry about the numbers, leader length or wind speeds. Feel it is all I can say. Next time your out, set up your Std with a 3 frame and a Mid with a Race or a 2 frame and compare them. I've learnt alot by just trying different frames and combos.
  19. Forgot to add, try your Race frame in your Vtd in the lower winds. Smooooth...
  20. With those frames I would do this: Std with 2's, Mid with Race and Vtd with 3's. Lightest for the Std. A Mid with race will see a heap of use as the Race is light enough to go low and strong enough to handle a gust. That leaves the Vtd in a 3 with the option to go to 4. It's useful to have some curve in your LE, unless you just want to blast around! The stiffer the LE the less curve you get. All up to a point though. Your hands and eyes will let you know when it's too much. I love my No Snags, want to get more in the other sizes. I don't find it an issue to use my other standard handles. Except when I thrash about on my B2. Then I need some 11" No Snags, I can get a little animated... Rob
  21. G'day all. Today I put my first Rok up into the air. Man it was sweet! As I was bringing it in, I was holding it by the bridle. I noticed that to some extent it could be directed by manipulating the 4 points of the bridle. It got me thinking... Has anybody heard of or flown a Rok as a quad?
  22. I feel I can fly in lower winds in my B Std than my SLE Std both with Race frames. There is only a couple of km/h in it though.
  23. Hey Tim, Just recently came across your website. Going to make a few of the single and 2 skewer kites with the kids. Great job!
