Full kite peeks at the Djinn, showing off some of the new Sync Bridle capability... https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10216768650952784&id=1357938423 https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10216774493018832&id=1357938423

Talk about a HUGE wind window. lol
-
With more connection to the lines (shorter) you may find light wind flying easier, counterbalanced against the reduced size of your wind window (need enough room to cruise a little).
-
This kite isn’t actually much faster on shorter lines except for a bit of line drag... It SEEMS faster because the kite is closer, and there is less sky / wind window to fly in so the ground seems to come up a lot faster, not as much room for shapes, recovery, etc. None of that is bad mind you, just a different playing field... If all you have is 120’ now, I’d definitely invest in something anywhere around 1/2 that length, I’d say anywhere from 60’ to 90’, every ten feet changes the feel of that window and also effects wind drag / response time (shorter = quicker and more connected), I myself usually fly 30’, 60’, 90’ and 120’ when I have a full quiver of gear.

Fly baby, Fly! 👍🏻

Hope that weather passes quick for ya! 🤞 Alas, no Djinn for the competition as it’s off to the factory, will still be on my old B-Series for the comps.
-
Thanks guys, probably just as well folks are posting here today as I’ll driving to Ocean Shores at 7am to go train with @windpoacher (Eli) before the weekend competitions - been a while since I competed, 2013, so five years off - it’s just an exercise really, I have very rarely competed against anyone, but it is a fun kind of tasking to consider and interface with the judges, fill the “buckets” of the scoring system, playing with field presence, comraderie, and some seriously amazing performances from time to time. MMB and MMP, here we come! Anyway, I’ll be fairly quiet most of tomorrow but always watching and immensely grateful. 🙏🏻

Thank you kindly, but don’t forget TK! Mine is the 1st, hers is the 10th and Luca is the 25th... All June babies.

When launching, make sure you’re raised your kite to “full alert” position, no longer leaning back at all, before you launch - if the kite is leaning back at all, it tends to kill the starting drive / power. 13 year old article, but there is some gold here... https://kitelife.com/2004/12/01/issue-39-milking-the-breeze/

Draw or walk back every time your kite is turning or flying upward, often leaning forward or lessening tension when turning or headed downward, always cycling that tension game.
-
The name of the game in light or variable winds is continuity of line tension - kites require tension to fly, so using body / arms / hands to keep a constant connection (+ or -) is of capital importance... It’s a subtle game, requires some physical engagement and keen attention to your connection with (and through) the end of the lines but that’s where your success can be found. Of course not all kites are created equal, some create / allow more constant line tension (like the Prodancer SUL) whereas other trickier, pitchier kites are meant to be unstable by nature which makes that connection more elusive.

I fly in flip flops 95% of the time these days, even urban / light wind. #laceless #freethetoes

FYI @AERIALIS Kites, I merged your two old accounts (“Sven” and “AERIALIS”) into this one so all your old posts and topics are now connected to the new account. Cheers! ❤️

Tons of info on various bridles here too... http://wardley.org/kites/bridle/index.html
-
Cool. 👍🏻 Pay mind to the fluttering noise in the trailing edge - when tuned well, a quad shouldn’t produce much fluttering except during maximum high speed flight... Try one knot longer at a time until the noise is all but gone, though launching may have to be more assertive.

You may find lowering the bridle point slightly (nose back) will make it easier to maintain a stall, try just 1/4” adjustments... Too much down on the bridle though, turns may become too sensitive and way too far, the kite won’t fly forward. -

Would have been ready in February, the end product has to be right for me, and for everyone else.
-
Hoping to having pricing and preorders available in late June, shipping late July. 🤞

Looking to release with a minimum of standard, mid and vented - two more tiers of venting planned as well. That being said - I flew my standard prototype today in up to 13mph with a P100 frame if you can believe that, while the Djinn’s power is still intact, the “runaway” pull and speed is muted by the bridle... Everyone else was on mids and full vents, I expect this characteristic to carry up through the vented models too so it’s quite possible that a Djinn full vent may be as manageable as an xtra vent flown in it’s wind range.
