There is only ONE way to literally add 25+ wraps to your lines while winding or unwinding... If indeed they are real wraps (not false as described above), then you likely wound onto one edge of the winder and unwound off the offer edge - literally the only way to make that many real twists without flying the kite. Oh, possible but very unlikely and not generally more than 10 wraps or so, if you let the two ends bounce around each other in the wind.

Sincere, non-automated welcome to you. There are few folks on the forum who have a Kymera in their bag - don’t be hesitant to engage, no shortage of friendly and knowledgable people here who don’t mind helping out a fellow flier, should be some results using the search function as well.

Yes, 1.5 format, yes, indent is intentional. Whys and hows will be addressed when we have kites in motion and build up a good summary.

New to quads is this kite a place to start?
John Barresi replied to freepistol's topic in Quad Heads
Uprights may not be the larger diameter, I definitely don’t claim any expertise on the Reflex line - I think the ideal always, try and connect with other quad flyers, try their stuff (most don’t mind if you ask), different sails and frames (talk shop), then buy what you like flying - it’s like a car, guitar or what have you, comes down to what fits you and will allow you to grow. 🙏🏻 -
New to quads is this kite a place to start?

Though technically, they count their new “Reflex” rods as part of that technology (or marketing anyway) - sometimes a bit stiff for performance flying, vs the traditional 1/4” rods. Best to confirm what spars come with the kite (especially in the leading edge), then consult with the forum members for info. -
Stunt Kite Clinic (Jun 16-17, 2018)

50’ sure, for tricks, I think I use around 60’ for trick flying - doesn’t leave much response time for “carving” the sky though unless you have the hands, and I definitely wouldn’t go shorter until you “know something”. I’d prescribe getting: 50’x50#, 50x90#, 100’x90#. That would be a solid starter set of lines for dual line. -

Fun factor is ALWAYS huge at the clinics, and as I see it, a good weekend of education and fun can literally triple the value of all the kites you already have (applied knowledge). -

Not sure what the official “full size” range is, but I generally think of 7’-8’ wingspan. -

Major rebuffing done and new build in hand, just gotta adjust the bridle configuration and test thoroughly - cross your fingers for tasty footage during our trip to Japan, May 9-23.

Tapatalk plug-in updated again, any fix with the KL app functionality? -
I don’t really care what they’re buying long as they’re flying and winning - so many kites end up in the same bag anyway, let god and skill sort ‘em out.

@RobB, can you share some thoughts or links on kite choice? I know you’re often engaged in those discussions. -

Widow NG is also a popular choice, it served quite well when TKL was stepping beyond basic flight. The new Silver Fox by Lam Hoc looks interesting too, I haven’t flown it yet though. For a full size kite like that, 75’ to 100’ may be the way to go - same principles, shorter means less window and response time, but 100’ isn’t so long as to make a kite actually sluggish. -

I should also ask you Russ, what appeals most about dual line? Carving shapes? Flippy tricks? Team flying? Just trying to get a read. -
Stunt Kite Clinic (Jun 16-17, 2018)
John Barresi replied to John Barresi's topic in Scheduled Events
Dual lines are so much more wind-dependent than quad... I’m not sure about a suggested kite (or pair of kites), not super well versed on what’s available and popular these days - anyone else care to chime in? I agree on the 101 value - not quite as deep as quad, but still very, very robust and all kite skills meet in the middle somewhere. Homework might include... https://kitelife.com/forum/topic/7002-stunt-kite-video-tutorials-dual-line/ Recommended length for team is really around 120’ still, but you won’t be flying team with your stuff for a little while - we’ll have Nexus kites on 100’ available for simple team play and learning. -
