  1. Its the Zeps I own that has these connections on the trailing edge, my kites are probably older. Help us dual liners! My Zeps have a screw holding the stand-off onto the trailing edge. Someone here must be able to comment within this subject.
  2. I have my lines, I fly with my kites. And I also think some companies sell products that can make you fly better than others. Talk with those companies. Don't talk with the companies that don't talk about their kite line. Talk to Shanti. Talk to ? about LPG.
  3. Looks like nice wind for tomorrow, got me thinking.
  4. I would think the stand-off screw in to the sail and pop in to the lower spreader, but that could be the different years. Yours may have snapped together and you can remove each stand-off. If one of my stand-offs break I just unscrew the stand-off from the sail the very small silver screw is visible. So I think yours snaps.
  5. I think if you have nice kite line to start with and some time on the lines the less equalizing you will do, the idea if staggering the knots was to get closer adjustments with unequalized lines, as equalized lines will get unequalized again and again. Actually my lines don't get stretched much, I choose the kite with the least amount of pull for the wind. I checked 2 sets after a year of use and one line was less than a 1/2" off out of the 2 sets. I read about one companies very popular lines of have a low stretch of 3.5%. For whatever that means, I would take it as 3.5% of 120' = just under 50 1/2" of stretch in 120 feet! Maybe you can divide some of that stretch by the 4 lines in use although the 2 bottom lines aren't taking too much pull buzzing across the sky while you're hanging on. In flying the extra-vent in 17mph w/25mph gusts I still see my lines curved/bowed. I don't believe you knots have to be so precisely matched or your lines need to be precisely equalized that you can or can't fly. Put your leaders at the kite instead of the handles and ask someone to adjust the leaders at the kite instead of you doing the adjusting. After several adjustments and coming up with the flight feeling you are comfortable with, revile the knots where you are set at. Then, measure each of those lines. Once the wind changes from coming out of the west to coming out of the south you will feel your lines are unequalized once again. "Adaption" is the word of the day.
  6. I would think with everyone making long leaders for their handles, by making them a little longer on the top and bottom of the handles, and, adding a few more knots to the leaders, and, even staggering the leader knots a little, and, putting your longest 2 lines on the top and the 2 shortest on the bottom, they will be equalized by putting them on the appropriate staggered leader knot according to the actual length of the each unequalized line. Well this works for me as I use 8 linesets with 8 sets of handles.
  7. So are there any pictures or videos to be shared? Wouldn't it be nice? Wasn't that the beach boys, wouldn't it be nice?

    Vented Rev...

I like the lightness of the polo vented and seems to fly nice with most frames. Xvent seems to need heavier frames or very high winds, and feels like a heavy kite. But I don't like being outside in high winds = over 20mph is too much for me. I bet there are some nice barely or never used vented revs somewhere.
  9. Wow, how time flies when the first snow here is less than 2 months away! I viewed you are into dual and quad, I went to the Cleveland kite fest awhile back and met a bunch of quad fliers there, a standard fest for the Kyt Crzy Taylor family and Lee Sedgwick. If I was to go again, I would stay out in a highway motel rather than a city motel. Weather permitting it would be a nice get together with other kite fliers.
  10. If you're gonna drive 3 hours to York, a better bet would be Cleveland, there's a kite fest coming up there next month I believe. Also what about Windstar Kites? That's in your area, Con Engels.
  11. Don't attach the inside bungees and just connect with a loose ferrule, add a 6mm do hinky to the center of the ferrule so it doesn't slide too much. Seem like I saw that set-up before.
  12. You don't really have add more brake, to get rid of the sound/buzz you need to slow the kite down by applying a little brake. And you don't even need to slow the kite down, just apply a little reverse/brake to the lines during flight. Just enough to stop the buzz.
  13. You can't go back to the original measurements, but you can try to get close to them, by feel. Back to equalizing all 4 lines.
  14. Silly Me, I just assumed the RV was on a roll all the time, like papa was a rolling stone. Yes you do need 2 bags!
  15. If you're living and traveling in an RV, wouldn't that be a big enough bag? If the wind changes you can always go back and grab a different kite.
  16. Reading about the less response and "seems to be." To me it sounds like, how equalized are your lines after 50 hours of flying?
  17. I always felt doing the walk of shame was the best way to relaunch. trailing edge forward, bridle over the top. Back Back Back puff! It's up and flying. But the walk of shame is a teaching tool too. And it avoids wear and tear. And teaches the student to never do that again, after a few times of course.
  18. I'm not sure if there is an easier way view my other kites, I noticed Rev Back Tracker I forgot about, I never took pictures, it's never been out of its package.
  19. Something must be wrong, mine won't do that. No big deal.
  20. I did go back into the album earlier and removed a bunch of Revs, I did add a few also. I'll try to be fair with the prices.
  21. Yes the black is single pieces. I tried to answer bbailey49 by clicking quote thinking his question would be in gray above the answer. But It didn't do that. How is that done?
  22. I tried it yesterday but couldn't do it, maybe because I was trying and the wind from the south isn't pretty.. Maybe a one handed falling leaf while the kite is gliding sideways on top of the wind, because the kite is coming towards you, almost the opposite of a catch and throw. But when it does happen the left lines are through the right lines and the right lines will also have 1 twist in them. I think I'm going to have to stake my handles to figure this out also. But instead staking the handles I'll probably remove the lines and put them on hooks on the side of the garage.
  23. I just opened my album so if there is other kites you may be interested in you can right click the above picture and copy/paste the url into the address bar of another window, I tried it but have to refresh the new window once to get pictures then click the bucket to get to the library. If you see a kite you like and want, pm me I'll get back to you. Some kites may be spoken for and some will be sold in lots.
