  1. Wednesday already and no answer to the 1" rip! The method I've used is the scotch tape on one side, turn the kite over, crazy glue along the rip on the other side, let it sit until it dries, remove the tape if you want or leave it on.
  2. If you go to a mall, there is people spending money/credit like crazy. If you want to buy classic kites there is only one place to go if you want revs! I still have old old rev1 curved logo never flown white/black and black/black stack! One white/black was flown but you wouldn't know it. I have other sixpaks that start with 480# bridles to 240# line sets. I'm an old man, 64 with health issues. But I won't give my stuff away.
  3. I'm sorry Dragonfish, I wanted DeafThunder to know that there is much more than a second decision of being 2-4 or rev1. And everyone should taste and enjoy each of those quadline options. The dual line fliers are so much more talented, in their flying skills.
  4. A rev blast 2-4 is a very floaty kite for quad lines, the pair of RWB looks good for me.
  5. To me, just go buy one, buy two. Test ride them. And make your own report. Personally, I like my own reports! And everyone else, likes their "own" reports.
  6. Here is a trick name that no one wants to say, but they want to move forward from! It's called "The Walk Of Shame" But it's just a name we use. I'm proud of my attempts "walks". In a way, dare to dream!
  7. Now get out there and get them wet again!
  8. How could you not love all that smoke coming off Lee S's feet? In real life, revs are revs! ESP! REV 1's
  9. I said the name of the place is, I LIKE IT LIKE THAT!
  10. I'm just saying rev1's fly slower and more graceful than 1.5's or rev2's. As far as sleepy and boring, the guys on the beach leaned back holding on for dear life are being pulled along the sand by rev1's. Pay extra attention to their knees that are about to burst!
  11. You actually doing it on your own was a "great show"! It was the first time I've seen that type of flight. A+
  12. The 2-4 flies across the window in forward then floats back across in reverse. The Rev1 is a slow graceful flying kite. The $289 price seems high to me, I have 2 2-4 blasts and somewhere around 30 rev1's, so I can't answer the buy as a second kite question and the for what reasons. But now, I sure know why I would want to have 29 rev1's, instead of 30!
  13. The lines if new shouldn't absorb much liquid, after all, it is plastic. I'd worry more if it was cotton or paper. It should be just fine until you fly in the sunshine again. Maybe the humidity level in your house is enough to dry the lines. And maybe heat like in a dryer is too much for material that really doesn't absorb much moisture.
  14. Remember Dyneema is a brand and not a final product, it's like saying, I'm going to buy some DuPont or some Spectra. Spectra/Dyneema kite line might be good for flying but not for fishing, while spectra/dyneema fishing line might be good for fishing but not for flying kites. The kite I bought from china came with dyneema line, that doesn't mean much, other than material.
  15. I have to say, I did recently buy one of those kite from China that was RTF, I did order another one afterwards. I can honestly say you probably won't have any problems with crashes, only because you probably won't get it to fly. The reason you won't get it to fly is because the lines have so much stretch it's like stretching chewing gum from your mouth with your fingers. I think if you doubled up on the lines making them 40' without cutting the lines there will still be too much stretch to feel much input or control. About all you get out of the line set is it the winder(s) that came with the lines, oh, the sleeving too. As for the handles, they are ok, the leaders have some serious stretch to them both tops and bottoms are 11" that will stretch to 12" then slowly go back to 11". The kite itself isn't bad, the bridle stretches like the leaders, my bridle was upside down on one of the verticals, just flipped it over as it was the same type of 3 piece bridle rev uses, but has stretch. The end caps are ok and they sent extras, the bungees holding the end caps are way too strong, it's like pulling back a crossbow to put the kite together. About the only thing left is the frame, the tubes are smaller length than the rev 1.5 tubes, definitely a different material, inside diameter is inconsistent by fractions where one end might fit onto the ferrule but the other end won't. But if you do break a tube it can be replaced by something local like sky shark or rev. It would take a little work but you should get it to fly, but the lines should be cut up into smaller sets where the stretch isn't felt as much. I would be bummed out like I use to at Christmas back in the 1950's getting a toy that lasted for less than half that day before it broke, or never got it to work in the first place. Like the wind-up plastic toy that the spring broken on the first try. HO! HO! HO! My conclusion is, it's flyable, with some quad experience and tuning ability under your belt.
  16. That was Cool! I want to see more, You're just teasing for the big show! 6 cameras!

    Shockwave

I never flew one, but to slide back ad forth in the wind window. it's a BLAST!!! a rev blast is nice, not too many tricks but a blast to play with. Really! I have 2 rwb blasts, one hasn't been opened!
  18. I know nothing about dual lines, but I love them! The Kymera kite my be nice to park for a few months then try it after a few other kites. Grab a cheapo kite for learning curves. A kite is an extension of you, not you! Just fly your kite the way it feels right. That's all any of us do/does.
  19. I like this topic! It's so new! Great idea! I want to know the results like everyone else! Biggest thing, you can't do a falling leave or a catch and throw upward, maybe you can do a "drop and climb" instead of launching the kite from a grass area. I hope you get to video your flight in the next 4 days, you might put a camcorder on the kite too. Wow! You know your limits, the bridge and the time to try it. Nowadays I'd be afraid to look over the side of that bridge, 600'! I sure wouldn't know which knot to use on the leaders, I'd say whatever is pushing you at a certain point, is pulling you not far behind, seems like your personal neutral will need to change to the new view. And loading the sail and all that will change because normally you depend on the point on ground to start and stop at. Where's Pete? He knows the answer to this flight.
  20. Even if you want to try it, Where are you going to stake your lines before being hit by a cement truck or tractor trailer? According to your beard the wind would be blowing down the centerline of the road which sounds like a safer start than staking it across the road. Even if the wind is going down the gorge to power up you'll have to step backwards somewhere along the flight, but stepping back might get you to the centerline again, hopefully before the tour bus has to stop to clean brain splatter off of the windshield. I'm thinking Wayne's ideas are my thoughts as well, it's easy to bring the kite down from the top of the window, as gravity is a good part of a controllable kite. What do you do once it gets to the bottom of the window, gravity won't help you getting the kite back normal ground level, walking into the road hopefully without even a horse and buggy hitting you might get the kite back in control. And you have the rails of the bridge stopping your normal movement, the fence you're standing next to is as high as your shoulders, maybe the rails on the bridge is the same height. It's a fun thought, but base jumping sounds safer!
  21. This is an interesting subject to the view that, skybond and similar line has the same 1 to 2% stretch, so in fact that a 120' line set needs to be equalized, does anyone realize that a 2% stretch on a 120' line set equals almost 29"' of stretch? Honestly, you don't need to worry about equalized lines. Worry about 2% stretch if you want to worry about something. Then waste more time worrying why you didn't buy into cab, kmi, but not not into race.
  22. Ain't that mushy type insects and fruits and berries easily digestible by swallowing them by whole? No need to blend a thanksgiving' dinner yet, no less a hand full of berries.

    E-cigs ? Vaping ?

Ok, Back to what's what...Jason, you don't need that junk now, charged or fully charged. This gimmick that is guaranteed to save you life if you use it, must, be saying the opposite if you don't use it, Right? Next step, fruits and berries section.
  24. Mentally exhausted and can't wait until tomorrow, is a good thing! Brakes, Forward, Neutral. Hover, Hover Forward and Hover Inverted are two different animals. The place you hover in the window, in both directions relaxed is your neutral. If you hover close to the ground forward, you need your top settings closer in. If you hover close to the ground inverted, you need your top settings further out. Much of this hover is dictated by the kite, standard, mid vent, vented. The speed of the wind. And where you want to hover in the window. Hovering by the ground in forward is harder than hovering close to the ground inverted simply because the leading edge has the weight, and top heavy is always going to be harder than low center of gravity low in the window. I fly and hover in forward, low in the window with some masterpiece kites because they just don't look correct upside down. Get out there and get exhausted again!
  25. Go with the $10 savings. About the only thing you will notice is 30 paces or 33 and a short step paces to the kite or handles.
