  1. I think in this case the statement about "throwing" a kite and long "throw" handles might be a bit confusing. The "throw" of the handles is nothing to do with throwing the kite. Long throw handles would probably describe handles that are longer than the "standard" Rev handles. By standard there are a number of lengths from about 8" to 13" (I think) Some folks like to make longer handle sets up as they prefer the type of control they get. I must admit that I find the 13" handles fine, but then I have not tried longer ones. Hope this helps.

    I'm back...

    Nice thoughts Bill.
  3. I am not as confident and am still learning the basice. Must admit I yearn for a nice steady wind. Sods Law says you will allways be working on that "perfect" day. Must admit the gusts keep you switched on though. Off nearer the coast for a few weeks soon so look forward to some cleaner wind. You can be sure it will pour with rain while I am there now.
  4. Personaly I like them all. Like the green best. If I was to drop one would drop one of the reds they are so close in colour. Keep the bightest one.

Yep, not far from Christchurch Harbor. The area that folks fly in is between the two car parks near Broadway. There are some hotels along some of the beaches, we do have vast miles of coastland with no buildings on them. If you are looking at Google Earth and scan along the coast you will see what I mean. We take our "camp trailer" (not an Airstream unfortunatly) to a little place inland called Frogham and stay behind a Pub called the Forresters Arms.
  7. Now that more like the Ant Man I know. ME ME ME mister, but I NEED it, not like Ant Man, he has a horsie to ride. I recon it is a WONDERFULL idea Dorsal. Dont give it away though, auction or raffle it. Yep raffle it, just make Ant buy ALL the tickets. Good luck all, I just have a feling this one is going tomake it "over the pond".

    I'm back...

Going down the South coast to a place called the New Forest. Towing a caravan with me for 3 weeks. Really lovely place been going for years. Got a good kite shop and loads of kites at Hengistbury Head. Also kite fest in Portsmouth to go to.
  9. Dont know if you have seen any weather news from over here but have had an AWFULL summer so far. Floods and stuff. Took me 3 hours to do 15 miles the other day. Still in GREAT mood as I am on holliday soon and the weather is getting better. Got a few hours flying in yesterday. First time for about a Month and a half.
  10. Come on Ant, you cant let me down. Not even worth wishing I will win it unless you are in the fighting ring. Now com on admit it, there is a part of you thinking this is the one for you, maybe just a little part!!!! But somewher in there YOU WANT THIS KITE.

Hey Grandpa, you will be back just in time to see if you have won the new draw kite then. Hope the time FLYS by for you. I am away about the same time. Got to stay in the UK though, hope the wind blows!!
  12. Much as I would love you to win this on Ant I am afraid it is a kite I have been looking at for a while and wondering if I should get one. In this case I come back from holliday on the 5th September, just in time to find that I AM THE WINNER.
  13. All I can say is HOOOORRRAAY. Or summat like that. Welcome to the B Dark Side. A bit like the Dark Side with cookies and milk, but more precise!!!
  14. With Watty only being 15 just think of the years of FREE you can get out of him John.
  15. Yep. Thinking about it I would go for a SLE with a 3 wrap (EXP type) leading edge if you can afford the price. If you keep the SLE edge it will make a good Tomato stick. Even better see if Theresa at Thekiteshoppe has a B left, she has a 40% sale on stock at the moment. Got to be quick though, ends on the 5th I think.
  16. Not sure I am with you on this one Ant. I know the SLE can take a beating. However it can be frustrating for a beginner. Needs higher wind to make it fly, the sort of "overflys" with its stiffer leading edge. I would still go for the 1/4" leading edge. Dont disagree on the 1.5 though. Dont forget the SLE is actually pretty much a 1.5 only about an inch in it. Afraid I would still suggest the EXP or a B series as an EXELLENT start someone who is going to stay with it as opposed to just wanting to try it then leave it in a box. I think the all round BEST advice is find some Rev fliers in your area and go try some out. If you ask we WILL let you fly ours, that is just the sort of FAMILY we are. At the end of the day there has to be an element of personal choice in here. Different Rev set ups meet various wind conditions. That is why we ALLMOST ALL have multiple Rev's.
  17. First choice a B series, bit more expensive but SO MUCH kite. Second choice, cheaper, easy to learn on, EXP. BEST choice, get BOTH the B series, standard and vented. You will never NEED to buy another Rev, of course you will WANT to buy others, just cuz they are SOOO adictive. BEST CHOICE OF ALL, get at least 3 of each of them from EXP through the speed sreies and all the Masterpiec'es. Then you can REALLY push the boat out with some FINE stacks, progressive stacks etc, and be THE ENVY of ALL. Hope this helps.
  18. Well Monks he is getting old now, what is he? All of 11 I think. Mature folks fly QuAdS!!!!!!!!!!! Just shows you are growing up Tristan. Dont stop whatever you do.
  19. Looks even more like a window in the air. Realy neat.
  20. Is there no end to your talents?? All I can say is keep up the good work. Only wish I was as dedicated ws you obviously are.
  21. Well done Charlie.
  22. Not just Kool Tristan, I would say sub zero. Do you do anything with Revs at all?????
  23. Hi Watty. Was by no means a complaint, just an observation on the postage time. I DID say it was worth the wait though. I know US is a BIG place compared to little old England but one time it was 5 days from collection to Sanfrancisco airport. Then took 2 weeks from there to UK!! either a slow plane or they made it fly itself. Of course customs then held it up for another week or so, once it was released it was at my local depot within the day. The WORST thing about having to wait 5 weeks for my Rev B's is it meant they arrived a few days late to let me fly one of MY kites with JB. Had to fly his instead.
  24. I had "interesting" dealings with a couple of places in the UK so went with Thekiteshoppe as it was one I looked at frome the Kitelife home page and I liked the Olde World type name. Theresa has been great. Only problem being length of time for postage. Have had from 5 weeks to 2 weeks. (not time too postage but time it takes to get from there to here) Not as much cheaper once postage is paid. Enough cheaper to put up with the wait, most importantly EXELLENT service. I think one of the main things that comes across is she is interested in getting it right for you. The kite train thing is good as well.
  25. Glad to be able to help. That is what forums are all about after all. I only know about it cus Lam pointed me towards it when I asked about the Sea Devil I won. Sorry not trying to rub it in, just cant believe I have it and have to mention it every time I get a chance.
