  1. That makes more sense!! For that thin a line try using 90# bridle line with the core removed as sleeving! We use it for 90# too, just the knots are tough to untie!!
  2. 14"s?? Who made them for you?? Stock Rev handles are 13' or 15' measured before the tube is bent! And where did you get the line set from?? 50# is really thin and can scrunch up the sleeving!
  3. WHEW!! Thought the odds were really going to change for the drawings! Not that an increase is a bad thing......!
  4. Yep, I was the only member of the 4 pak we formed, that was using them! Felt no issues with either team or duo,(everyone else was on LPG), and certainly not solo! Plus many times we just had pickup teams of 3 to 8 and I was the only SB user among them! With my "style" of flying, I didn't feel any negatives that just strike me as being a put off! We do a good amount of beach flying, washing sets out after use, to rid them of sand! It will be interesting to see how these hold up with time. My LPG sets last about a year and a half, so let's see how these do!
  5. I'm in a test to see how the set of Skybond 120's feel and so far have no negatives to complain of! Wound them up dirty, wet, then ran them out the very next day for more use! Flown everything from my Zen to my xtra vent, and all in between, over the last weekend, accumulating close to 30 hours of flight time. I also am looking to see how long they last compared to the LPG sets I've flown before! Decision still being formed, but so far, so good!!
  6. That's why even the strongest supporters from either side of this will say - TRY AND DECIDE - for yourself, what you like! See if it fits that elusive "feel" we've all looked for!! Even someone like Paul L., holds a clinic and sets up the same kites with several different mods on each and says - fly them all and YOU decide which one "feels" right!! It all comes back to the "feel thing", what I like and you like, may be 3 different things!! Are they the same kites, lines, handles - mostly yes! What mods you like or how you set them up is a personal thing - there is no right or wrong!!
  7. Don't compete - never have!! I demo - I fly to satisfy myself and the crowd, not the judges! I have entered into comps, but only to get the few minutes allowed, to have the floor all to myself!! Besides, I like "showing off"!
  8. Yep - fixed line sets are where you're headed with that! Having several lengths of line, you can either get several sets of straps, 1 for each or remove them and switch them line set to line set! Doesn't take a long time to switch, they're larksheaded on and easy to remove! Plus you can get much better lines than those on the plastic handles! Usually those are dacron which stretch badly, making control a big issue! You're looking for more Prism line sets in much better materials, or if you want to make your own, you can buy a bulk roll of LPG (Laser Pro Gold) and some sleeving!! In any case - stay away from those plastic handles!! Take a few moments to even up some good lines and you'll be much happier!!
  9. Just another piece of fabric and some rods, held down by lines! PS: while the kite's quality helps, it's still the pilot that makes it fly!! Good luck SHBKF!
  10. Totally agree on the "find what works and do it the exact same way" - EVERYTIME! Making it a habit takes all the variables out!! No such animal as a "perfect wind", at least not regularly, but with practice, you should make it very easy to straighten out any small issues!
  11. Bazzer has said to use denatured alcohol to clean Revs, but don't know how this will work on your cleanup! Just know it's at least safe for most Rev cleaning!
  12. But Nick - that's how some find their "feel"! Not for all, for sure! But some enjoy the comparing and adjusting! You and I fly them pretty much stock, right outta the bag, but that may not satisfy all!! To each their own!
  13. I'd forgotten my geography for a moment - not always sharp as I originally came from back east! Only 2 hrs away for me from Portland! I'll be there Thursday - Sunday! '
  14. By the way - are you going to Lincoln City? Festival is next weekend!!
  15. NW Flyer - If you make it down to the Rev field at WSIKF, look for a blue hat in the sea of neutral ones! That be me! Probably have goggles on too! Welcome to a life long experience!!
  16. I'd have to see the LE pocket to make that decision! Is the bridle made from 90# flying line or regular bridle line? They used a lighter fabric in the LE pocket and a lighter bridle to shave off weight! The panel layout is much like an older version of the 1.5 sail. Did you buy this new or used?
  17. Most times this setup is for team practice, so quality isn't too big an issue. But it isn't pleasing listening to scratchy audio either! Our leader included a pot for external adjustment of the music source!! But her setup also needs the push to talk button held down!!
  18. 10 - 4 !! I was one of the boot camp people and am looking to occasionally lead my team! We all use radios, but the usual leader is the only one that has any kind of dependable? setup! I would like a setup of my own to eliminate swapping stuff from one to another person! Maybe swap ipods, but not the whole thing!
  19. Would this work with other makes of radio?? (Uniden)
  20. Using this setup,. will you still need to hold down the "push to talk" button or tape it down??
  21. Chalk it up to "line management"!!
  22. But can you resist the power of the "Dark Side"??
