  1. Hi, and welcome to the forum.
  2. Once you can control the beast it will be very hard to put it down and fly something else.
  3. It will just overfly the line laundry, which has become the new anchor point, and will possibly be a bigger mess and more dangerous. Add drag to the kite before you add the laundry, or change the angle of attack by moving the bridle point.
  4. Hi, Cameron, and welcome to the forum. I'm not sure if it's still in production or if parts are available, but here's a couple of links that may be helpful: http://www.windsweptkites.com/Synergy_Deca_A-1_6_15_manual.pdf http://www.windsweptkites.com/Zero_Wind_Deca._manual.pdf
  5. Put a tail on it. Length depends on how much drag is necessary to keep it downwind of the anchor point. Or create a new attachment point about 1/2" towards the tail from the current attachment. Usually a 12-foot delta comes with factory-made multiple attachment points. If you post a photo of the attachment point on this kite we can advise you better.
  6. That's why electronic data storage sucks -- things vanish rather easily.
  7. Hi, and welcome to the forum. Lots of flyers in the Midwest. Attend as many festivals as possible, even if you have to drive a couple hours. Check the member maps at the top of the page.
  8. What kind of kite? Tails will range from 2 feet to 150 feet depending on the type of kite. A photo or drawing would be helpful. If it is a diamond kite or other flat sail then 1.5 to 2 times the length of the kite should do. This is just a general rule-of-thumb, and it may vary with the type of kite and the wind speed. Less wind=less tail, and so on.
  9. Spending 360 days there? Dates typo?
  10. North East Corner Of Illinois Near O'hare Airport -- Sorry, the devil made me do it. Took me a while to figure out PNW. I guess I'm not the sharpest tack in the box.
  11. Hi, Prophet, and welcome to the forum. I'm in the NECOINOA. Hope to fly with you some day.
  12. Just a bunch of folks having fun, or is it a festival? Nice day for flying at any rate!
  13. Have fun and watch the tutorials on this forum to learn more and get better faster.
  14. How many points on the kite does that bridle leg attach to? Does it fan out and go to more than one? In other words, how many points on the sail does it support? Does it affect the way the kite flies? If there's no adverse effect on the kite's performance, I would just fly the kite as it is and wait until it parts. It doesn't support more than about 1/8th (perhaps less) of the pull, and will probably hold for much longer than you would imagine. What I'm saying here is: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Even when that leg breaks the kite will probably still fly quite well.
  15. I can't pick one I don't like -- but I'm leaning towards #5, although #2 is a beautiful fade. Flip a coin?
  16. You only missed about 8 festivals within an hour and a half of you in Florida in the last two years. Google kite festival Florida. Not to mention other states within reach. Watch the tutorials on this forum until you're sick of them. Then watch again a few more times. They are GOSPEL and will serve you well if you do exactly as instructed. Even then if you are learning on your own you will encounter a difficulty or two. Don't let them frustrate you. It happened to all of us at the outset. Take care of it and carry on. Once you have control of a quad the smiles come easily. Good luck. Smile, have fun and don't forget to breathe.
  17. Hi, and welcome to the forum. Lots of kiters in Florida. Hang in there. They'll chime in soon.
  18. Hi, Scooter, and welcome to the forum. A small foil, 1.2 or 1.4, can be had complete and ready to fly for well under $100 and is a good place to start. The chances with a framed kite are that you'll break something before having enough control to not be crashing anymore. Google and visit a kite shop near you.
