  1. A little wet, but high spirits at the Montreal Kite Festival!

  2. Coffee, danish, friends (having meeting now and couldn't list everyone, ready to fly!

  3. We hath arrived, bring on the clowns! :)

  4. Matt - as others have said, sounds like the back lines might just be too tight... Indeed, a power foil's back lines should sag, driving on the top lines. If you don't have it fixed already, any chance of a phone video next time you have it out? Might help diagnose - either way, see you in Lincoln City bro!
  5. What group are you hooking up with?
  6. True dat - like Cheers, it's the place they know your name!
  7. +1 to the hell yeah.
  8. What more need be said? There is no low man on the totem pole with Rev team - ain't that kind of scene. If you want to experiment in decent wind, fly at a slight angle next to a light pole, then bend your lines around the pole by a few degrees, making very soft inputs. That is totally doable, and is way more binding on the lines than team flying is... 99% of team flying doesn't wrap a full team completely around, generally it's a 1/2 in and 1/2 out formula. The key is to watch your kite and the "space around it"(i.e. where do you fit in the sky), when in doubt... 1 - Own your hover, or at least a good slow-down (1/2 speed) response. 2 - Pick any one specific place and fly to it, be damned with everything else. If you do get tangled up, own your hover, stay in the same relative space and walk closer to the pilots you're hooked up with... All kites land side by side, sort it out at the pilot end by moving the handles around... Shaking the lines helps bring the twists coser to the pilot end. Comes with the territory - join in the giggle and carry on, a bit wiser.
  9. I've thought about it, but never seen it.
  10. I've got nothing, sorry!
  11. Great post, thanks Chris.
  12. We did one on a Rev a few years back... Looks like the folks at l'Atelier may have a better system though... youtu.be/dS9GS7HtRb4?t=2m31s That last one is an all time favorite of mine, great video.
  13. Some of this would be attributed not only to a difference in loading or sail pressure, but also in general handling.
  14. A big part of the "locked in" feeling you're described can be attributed to venting in general (on Revs)... STD is semi-stable MID is a bit more stable VTD is way more stable XTRA is like a Cadillac The caveat of course, is that as the kite gets smoother (more venting), it also loses drive, snap with decreased acceleration off the line. It all comes down to a balance between the right frame (flex, but not too much) and the right amount of venting for the wind. == All that being said, the design differences in the B-Series accentuate these dynamics. End of the day, the right frame, tuning and technique will take you further than the "perfect kite" ever will.
  15. Anyone playing with video cams on a Rev, and using it to get "skydiver-like" perspectives on objects, landscapes, sculptures or whatever... ?
  16. Just for fun... http://www.revkites.com/forum/topic/531-global-rev-count/
  17. SLE has a flatter profile by nature, B-Series is designed to load and manipulate the loading in the center of the kite... Not sure how to quantify the experience because not every pilot feels the same things when flying. I say find some OPK (other people's kites) for testing side by side. For me, 50# gives much more connection with the line tension, but gets a little bouncy (stretch) if you get too loaded up (sail pressure) at longer lengths... I carry 120', 90' and 30' in 50# LPG, for those absolute no wind or urban flying days.
  18. ON the top floor of the garage ("open air")... youtu.be/bMywuOsFk4I?t=3m43s Lines, 30' x 50# LPG. Wind, variable 0-4 mph, 7 stories up, shifting wind directions (45-180 degrees at a time). == IN the garage was closer to indoor, 0-2 mph with little gusts in variable directions. youtu.be/bMywuOsFk4I?t=4m36s
  19. Holy crap, I'm full. :D

    (onaka gabo gabo)

  20. I do know better, but I just approved it anyway.
  21. Automatic entry, keep an eye on #1094.
  22. My wife (Takako) uses Gutermann too.
  23. John, keep an eye on #1096.
