  1. Few months ago fella was looking for one. Some nice chatter ensued. The simplistic elegance is pretty amazing.
  2. Really nice stuff. What is the 5th kite down. Is that one those that you fly in a hurricane 🤤?
  3. Love the color. The top reminds me of a speed wing. Really nice looking kite. Looking forward to pics in the air.
  4. It's difficult choosing huh. The 1st advice a newbie gets is fly OPK to get a feel for you. So many excellent kites and so many valid opinions. Problem in the choosing for me is no fliers nearby. Tekken DOA SUL Most bad ass thing I saw all day except looking in the mirror while brushing my teeth this morning . Oh and that rattlesnake that went slithering across my flying field earlier. Headed away from the yard so still alive.
  5. Remember that the shorter the line set the quicker things appear to be. Hind sight would say I struggled on the 50' x 50# due to lack of skills more than a crappy line set. Next 50# will 65' cause that's what Jon T said to get. For the Pro Dancer.
  6. ITW, Fun With Wind and Wind of Change say R2F with 80' x 80# on the standard. Don't know why the UL wouldn't come with a line set too. I really struggled on 50' x 50# prism line set. Came with the Micron and I used it on my Pro Dancer and Zephyr. Sucked for me. Now I got 120' x 50# Laser Pro Gold and am learning to love it.The 2 LPG sets I have are a lot better than my HQ or stock lines. Flown my PD on it a few times. Winds start getting 5 plus I use 90# at either 124' or 82'. The Tekken is smaller with a different type pull and Iv'e gone to 13 mph already. Unintentional and not something I want to risk again.
  7. On that desert Island thing. Due to being the freaky ,fickle, kite flying fool that I am becoming . I have changed my mind. It would be the Mind Trick vented. Having flown both today I am now extremely confident in my choice . For now 😖. I'd rather fly in 23 then 3. No other reason.
  8. Either. Might need to do one or the other due to line wear. Haven't flown long enough to get a set to that point. Mostly done the kite end so I don't have to remove handles. I have 2 sets that you have to undo the sleeve knots to take off the handles. The other sets handles are looped on. My finger straps are larks headed to a series of knots. Really cool cause you can adjust for stretch in the field by just changing the larks head to a different knot. The finger straps were made by a guy named Norm. When I bought these I really wish I had got some different sizes for variety. I bet some of those Silver bowl fliers have some. Once or twice to start and you shouldn't have to do it very often. My Prism 100' x 150# set has been adjusted the most. At least 12". Hasn't needed adjusting for a good while know. Good set that hasn't failed me even when bumping 35 mph. The JB tutorial is spot on and what I go by.
  9. Went out with the White Widow for close to 2 hours earlier. Winds 2 to 3 dropping to 0 at times. Winds started increasing and are now going over 15. On a break and will go back out on the Mind Trick vented. Winds came up and I started getting all excited and brave. Need to be better when I get like that to be flying the WMP. Hydra or Mind Trick time. Question has been posed if on a desert Island and could only have one kite(only 1, violent shudders). Which one. For the longest time my choice has been Zephyr. Today while flying it dawned on me I haven't replaced or re glued a c clip in over a month. Zipping around I started feeling confident that I'm at level 3. As of today my only 1 has now become the White Widow Maker Pro. Man O man I am loving this kite.

Wow Riff!!! Diamond center would look nice.I don't know what a dort is anyways. Still hunting for the dang things .
  11. That's the one I'd get. If I wasn't kite poor I'd have both. Seriously look at the Silver Fox Pro's just put up. They are up graded Silver foxes. When looking for a mid priced vented Jon T of Sky Burner Kites recommended the Silver Fox Pro line to me. High praise indeed.Great price for both. The SF UL over the Acrobatix UL without a doubt. Maybe better than the Soul I don't know but wouldn't think so. They are probably neck and neck just different. Same guy designed both. Videos of Bell flying are outstanding.
  12. Either one. Acrobatix comes RTF. Soul does not. Zephyr was my choice. Was going to sell it after getting the Tekken. Flew it a couple more times and nope it has to stay. They're very different.Remember neither will get you below 2 or 3.That's the sul range and not all of those will fly below 2. Kaiju, Pro Dancer, Prism 4d and some European kites will. All very different. I love my Pro Dancer but it is not a trick monster. Have not been successful in 0 because I don't have 65' x 50# line set.Recommended by the builder in 0 to 3. More fragile than my Tekken SUL. It has a heavier Sky Shark P200 LE and 3 PT spreader and doubt below 2 I'll do much. It is a trick monster.Damaged my PD when a side gust blew it to the ground on 50' x 50#. Knew I would be hard on that kite because of skills. Wasn't anything I did just one of those doodoo happens. Rocked my confidence with the kite big time. Have thought about selling it a lot. Guy here pretty much said chill. You haven't taken the kite close to where it can go.Bonding with the kite again and really happy I didn't sell it. Been flying the PD on 120' x 50#. The shorter set will be coming this weekend. The pull on the Delta Hawk is why I don't have one. Should not be a issue for you. Get 120' to 150' 200# LPG and padded wrist straps. Cheaper lines would be the HQ 220#. Cat named Hadge in England has some great posts and great videos about the kite. If you haven't you tubed it yet Delta Hawk videos are some of the most entertaining out there. Flying your micron in 15 will get you prepared for speed kites in 35. Look at the HQ Whizz. It might intrigue you more. OSK has them for a descent price.

Very nice . Another one that gives me the illusion of movement sitting still. I'd put a dort in the middle.

    New Kite

Similar reason as Wayne that I'm here. When starting out I too wanted to know and do everything on a kite. Obsessed is what my wife called it. Got material and a sewing machine. Read up on mods ,dynamics, kite plans and the like. Took the advice from a 30 year flier. He said the thing he regretted most in his 1st year of flying was not just flying. Calmed down and that's what I'm doing now. That kites cool.
  15. One of the hardest skills to learn for me is not pulling the air out of the sail in low winds. Your Freestylist should fly well in 2 or 3 mph with skills. This is one of those head trips where Makatakams advice starts hitting home. Don't forget to breath and have fun. It's good practice when winds suck to just pop the kite off the ground and see what it does and how you can control it. Until I got a Pro Dancer I did that a lot. Got very pissed at times too. My Addiction was really good at that. Yesterday winds were 0 to 2 and a little 3 or 4 in the morning. Took my new to me Tekken SUL out and it does not do that well at all. Still got a good feel of the kite. Hour of that I flew my Pro Dancer for about 11/2 hours. Winds came up a little and pow that Tekken smacked me like a ton of bricks. Just awesome. Lams art work on a kite is fantastic. Only saw one thing yesterday that was more bad ass than that kite . It was in the morning looking in the mirror while brushing my teeth LOL. Might have bonded so quick because of that hour just popping around. Top of stated range is 12. Winds kept increasing and when hitting 12 to 13 took a break. Came back out winds were 15 and going higher. Mind Trick vented time . Hour later winds started hitting in low 30's. Flew a little bit longer and got my ass wore out. Been there and it sucks you had a rotten day. Me I had 0 to 30 winds with 3 kites to fly. Had a absolute blast. When having some days like that and actually breaking things a wise one on here said this. Patience grasshopper you'll get there. You will. Got up at daylight to catch the low winds. Still pretty sore from yesterday and chickened out. Winds now 15+ and really want to fly. As long as winds aren't over 30 tomorrow my poop will be back. I'll fly and hopefully nothing will break . You might have had your bridle under a spreader or on the wrong side of a LE connector. To go up so low and spin to a nose dive doesn't seem quite right. One day I had issues like that. Got pissed and it took a broken center tee for me to figure it out. Was real sure it was the kite and wind combination not me. Boy was I wrong.

Believe it or not you'll quit being so wound up about things as you grow. At least I think you will cause I haven't yet LOL.

The wrinkled parts of the sail has to break in too. It's called crispy. The longer it flies the smoother it becomes. They say after hours of flying sails get a almost silky feel. When my Zephyr was new the material on the front of the spine was really out of line from top to bottom. Pretty disturbed. Read up some on sail break in and decided to not complain. Around 35, 40 hours realized it was now aligned. Bottom of my Widow ng did the same thing but a little faster. I have the impression that it's more common in rip stop nylon than Icarex. On my Widow Maker I put everything together, up, hard left crash. Happened several times. After each crash I inspected, up, and crash. Dawned on me that I had read somewhere to take some of the kite down to release tension. Sail has more air time and has not happened since. Odd and I still don't really get why. Hit gwtw, search sliding stand offs and read what Steve Tapp had to say. Was going to do that to my Nighthawk but alas had to go for the WM Pro. Loved that Nighthawk. Really should get a Wolf ng. Pretty much leave mine straight up and down. Angle in on the Zephyr in low winds sometimes. 25 + angle out on the Mind Trick all the time.In puts more billow to catch wind. Out flattens to deflect more wind.

I'm saying Lams kites are so good it's hard for a lot of kites to measure up. Flying that might influence your next choices quite a lot. My 1st purchase was a E3 off ebay and it too fell apart.Think that was for the best. I liked the red, black, white combo. When I get another Addiction that's the color. Why they make a variety right .,Iv'e instantly connected with 2 kites. The Widow Maker Pro and the Tekken SUL that I flew for the 1st time today.
  19. Edmond you are absolutely right but read it again .

Ah I'm a little slow sometimes. You might want to wait and fly that Sky Master before getting anything else. Iramos?

If it's the Soul. Would have got one if I didn't already have a Zephyr. That Sky Master is beautiful. Lately all my new kites have been showing up white. Don't mind though. There are some pretty mixed reviews on the Silver Fox UL.From what Iv'e read in that line of kites I'd get the Acrobatix UL over the Foxes but I don't really know.

So many kites it makes my head spin at times. In a good way though LOL. You'll here a lot about Revolution quad kites here. Few minutes ago guy posted on GWTW info and pic of a Rev duel line that were produced in the early 90's. Didn't know Rev made duels till today. They didn't make very many but that is a very nice looking kite.

Don't go out with high expectations. Go with SUPER high expectations. It might be best to look for something similar but flies different. Variety in the bag. Spice of life of life sorta thing. I have 3 standards that are very different but great flyers. Sky Dog Black Dog, Hydra and Widow Maker Pro. Premiers Widow ng, Wolf ng or Addiction Pro are my recommendations. Flying Wings soul brand new on Ebay for $150.00 shipped would be a great deal. Never flown one but good reviews.Silver Fox 2.5 or 2.3 are something to look at. On the gwtw forum a guy has a brand new 2.5 and a prism Hypnotist $110.00 each or both for $200.00. Trustworthy fella. Sold him 1 and bought 1 from him. Some really nice kites pop up there a lot.

They slide a long the line to help maintain stability. Pick the kite up by the tow points.Hold them with kite on it's back in the air. Look down and slide the 2 knots around. Don't undo anything. You'll start to get the idea behind the method.Doubt there is anything amiss . After doing that and you still think it's off others here will walk you thru it.There are different types of bridles and I still got quite a bit to learn on the how and why of the designs. How to make them is a art unto itself. Those are roll ups to catch your lines doing certain tricks. There are quite a few different types of those too. My Hydra has that type. Remember when flying in the cold snot is salty too LOL. Lived 3 blocks from the Gulf for 3 years. We loved it.It's going to be a little brutal at 1st. Crashing that beauty the 1st few times will put a twist in your gut. You may even start to think you should have got a lesser kite to pound at the start. Don't. It'll handle it. You have a advantage if your beach is sandy. If rocky go find some grass or clean field to start. When it breaks and it will, fix it. Knew I would have more than 1 kite. Waiting for parts after my 1st break was a huge motivator to say the least.
  25. That would be the man. When a company like Benson Kites features you on their web site you've done something good. I've really enjoyed his photos.
