Jazz has a reputation for being tough. I have Prism's Zephyr and Snapshot 1.4 foil. Very happy with both. Very different than the Jazz. Jazz will get you flying but will limit your tricking growth if that's what you want to do. Premier Vision in that price range would take you further. A lot of folks will say spend a little more and get a Quantum. My pick in that price range is the Premier Wolf ng.I had a Premier Nighthawk that my 11 year old grand son did real well on.So did I. Upset that I sold it until he saw the replacement.Premier replaced the Nighthawk with the Wolf ng. Best place to get it is at Kites and Fun Things. They also are the kites designers. Your 11 year old can handle a duel line to start. Not saying don't get a single line kite cause there are some real cool ones. Esingers recent videos are a great example.Just not needed if duels are the goal and cost is a issue. A used decent 1.2 to 1.8 foil from $30.00 to $40.00 on Ebay would minimize damage when first learning control. I've had a 6 year old grand daughter flying my Snapshot and Hydra. Under close supervision though. A year from now and you guys are out flying your new $400.00 Benson kites (you'll have to have 2 ) and a newbie wants try flying. Hand them the Jazz or foil. Some people like the Jazz so much they get 3 or 4 and stack them. The pics and videos of those stacks are very cool.

Would have been fun Khsidekick but hey life's a long beach sometimes right LOL. Day before yesterday Zephyr winds. Yesterday Widow and today Zephyr. Sure like my Zephyr.Last week same 3 days winds rarely below 20. Lots of 25+. Got run off a few times. Week ago Sun winds really hit hard a few times. Went to the kite and 1 line was about to come apart. 130# and it makes me think 35 or a little higher. Later winds were a little over 40 but I was drinking scotch happy that line didn't come apart close to the ground in 30+. Parts would have probably been ordered. Wasn't as exciting on the Z today but it sure was A+ pleasant.Sometimes exciting just makes me go get a tums.

If you find you are not drawn to the tricking here are some hard pulling , noisy and some of them really fast kites to research. From Hq kites Fazer( different sizes), Ninja, Bat kite, Whizz, Delta Hawk and Eliminator. From Elliot Mirage(different sizes), Jet Stream and Gladiator series. Starting out and for the money might be hard to beat the Into the Wind Panther. The Panther comes with 100' x 200# line set that can used on the HQ kites. They don't come with lines. Watch some of the you tube videos of the Delta Hawk. A few are hysterical. If you can hang on in 30 mph to 45+ that little kite will take you for a ride.

Watch the JB tutorial on line winding. Make a figure 8 around the horns.I was pretty clumsy at the start but you'll pick it up pretty fast. My 1st few flights were in low wind too. Very frustrating. Learning to keep wind in the sail at the bottom of the wind range is hard. Check the bridle knots that adjust the nose tilt. Tilt forward to hold more wind when it's light. Tilt back in higher wind to let it pass over the kite. My Hydra and vented Mind Trick have 2 adjusting knots. Zephyr 3 but you can go 1 more. Pro Dancer 4 and Widow Maker Pro 6. Jewel 1 and didn't need anymore. Popping hard in low winds usually pulls the wind out of the sail. When in low winds again try sweeping your arms back while walking backwards as quick as you can. Slow smooth moves mostly but sometimes pops are needed. It's pretty mechanical at first. Keep at it and pretty soon your own rhythm will start to develop. Don't want to brag or rub your nose in it to much but I only had 97 turns in my lines 1st time. Only had to do the walk of contemplation to the kite 28 times. Maybe it was worse though and I'm just trying to feel good about myself LOL. Trying to fly a standard in UL or SUL winds is tough. Make double sure you do your knots right when adjusting your line length. First couple times I was like hey no sweat. 3rd time in 15 or so winds 1 knot slipped. Line shot out like a rubber band twisting and snarling as it went. Took an hour before I was back in the air. Any day there's no damage is a good day. Even for the pros I think. It gets better. A LOT better. Only got to fly for a little over 2 hours in UL winds today. Small repair job will be done in the morning sigh.

Trying like crazy to get there. Don't know about flipping trucks though Khsidekick but I'd watch. Last time I flipped a truck kinda hurt . When researching for my 1st kite Hypnotist was 3rd. The choice between the Widow ng, Wolf ng and Hypnotist was so close it came down to money. Wouldn't have regretted either.Been saving for a higher end UL. It wouldn't make me any better of a flyer then a year of flying my Zephyr.Just want one . Spending money for the Clinic would. Plus I think the fun factor would be huge.If I can make it think I'd just bring the Hydra with 100' x 130# lines.

Like that color scheme a lot.Got a baby goose born April 20th and brought home April 22nd. Geese do not do good alone. They'll go dingy and get mean. I really, really shouldn't admit this.Set up a pen for her in the TV room. At night I have to tuck her under my shirt. She burrows into my armpit and goes to sleep. It's extremely disgusting. I truly hate it . Be another week before she has enough feathers to sleep on her own. 2 more before she can go out with the other birds. She's an American Buff JB has been buff, buff, buffing the Dijjin. Me I've been buff, buff, buffing a Buff LOL.

My sister lived in China for a few years. While there she sent me a 2' x 3' replica of a Military Macaw. When you get about 6 inches away you can see that it is not a painting. Its hand sewn with silk thread. Most amazing piece of art I have ever had. The detail is beyond belief. The skill and patience to create it is pretty astounding. My real African Grey Parrot friend Bird. Met him before he was fully feathered and if I tried to call him anything else he'd get pissed. Freaky, freaky smart critter. If I were to acquire the Mona Lisa I'd sell it asap mainly for the money but also cause I think it's kinda ugly. Macaw will hang on my wall till I'm gone. It's beautiful. My Widow Maker Pro is 1 of 5 white sails created by Steve Tapp. Kite will never be created again and I always get a little nervous when flying it. I believe he made it to fly and not be a wall hanger. So I fly the hell out of it. Would be nice if Sky Burner was making the WMP again. Then the White Widow might be treated a little more gently. Naw who am I trying to BS. Kites awesome and I'm going keep flying the hell out of it. It's why Sky Burner made it. If I got a Bazzer I'd do the same. But that's me. Don't think most cheaper replicas of anything quite measure up to the real deal but people buy them for a number of reasons. Personally if I get Bazzer eyes I'll contact Bazzer. Seems that in the quest for dollars a lot of companies ignore the nickles at there peril. From what I've read on the forums in the last 6 months I have no intention of buying a new Rev ever. Well ok maybe if it's a fantastic deal cause I'm a cheap bastard. I'd rather buy the OSK Freilein on the cheaper side and buy from builders that worry about their nickels. I like it that JB, Lam, Paul De Bakker and Jon T, talk to me like I'm a dollar not the penny I am.I think it's because they love sharing their craft far more then doing their necessary business. That makes surviving harder then for those more profit oriented.Been 100% satisfied with my 2 parts purchases from Prism. It was a business transaction though like calling the bank. Buying parts from Wind of Change, Kites and Fun Things, Fun With Wind and Into the Wind I came away with new knowledge. Talking to OSK they were happy to share knowledge.Looking forward to talking to all of them again. Don't want to have to call Prism again but I will and am sure I will be satisfied. Just not as enriched by the experience. Prism has a great business model. When people start researching duels they are usually the first recommended kites. I took RobBs advice and got the best I could justify at the time because I want to trick not just fly around. So the Jazz, Nexus and Quantum were not considered. The Hypnotist was definitely in the running. Widow ng was top dog because I got a great deal,it's a better kite and people said Jon T will take the time to discuss his designs with anyone who minds their manners.(Wolf ng #2) I love this forum. Learned a ton and the shared knowledge and experiences is well worth the small subscriber fee. I don't know how to fly a quad or much about them but I will. When Rev dissed John Barresi and other like minded people from newbies to pros in a round about way they dissed me too. So Piss on you Revolution Kites. Although if you need a boots on the ground guy to promote your kites across the U.S., get feedback from all kinds of fliers and maybe get some of that foul taste out of a lot of peoples mouths I can do that. Make me a offer Rev Kites. Worse that could happen is I'll say yes LOL. Hold on worst thing could be JB would then ban me from Kite Life . Naw he's not a Richard Cranium. After all this rambling though probably been better to have just wrote I 2nd Jwharton.

Lets see here. Most people end up with 3. Got 14 but with seemingly a lot of pain and effort could get by on a mere 7. You are truly a bad influence Makatakam. I have 7 duels and a awful desire to get another. I fly in less than 2 and in 25+. I guess I could suffer and only have 4. But what would I backup the backup with that needed backing up with the backup that I backed up with the other backup that needs backing up while waiting for parts for the backup. WOW I need 14 kites.

I look for kite deals just about every day because I have no life and it's fun. Getting the best kite you can and grow into it was the best advice I got when starting out. Started on a Widow ng and glad I did. Learned faster because of the quality kite I believe. Oh and never, ever, ever nose dive the kite into the ground. That advice is still falling on deaf ears at times though. The ITW Hydra and Kymera are the best deals I know about right now.Have been for awhile. I got a Hydra a few months ago and it's a blast.. There's 2 of you so spend another 12 dollars apiece and get both .Don't think you'd regret it. I have a Prism Zephyr that goes for $200.00 + new and love it. The Hydra is sewn a little better in my opinion. Kymera should be to. My Hydra flies in a little lower wind then stated but gets real flippy in a light breeze which is kinda fun. Neither comes with line sets. I prefer the Hydra on 100' lines but don't know anything about the Kymera. Except I'd like to have one. JB would probably without to much prodding or needling answer any questions you'd have about the Kymera. Even annoying newbie questions like I have at times . Shipping from several U.S. shops has been fast for me.

Never flown one but have read good things about the Hypnotist. Think you are starting on a really good kite. With the Hypnotist I bet you'll be doing tricks before you know it. You'll be flying along make a mistake and the kite will do something really cool looking. Guess what you can repeat it. I've got a Prism 1.4 Snapshot that really helped me gain confidence in control. Kites a blast in 20 mph but gets a little boring after a bit.Don't fly it much anymore but doubt I'll ever get rid of it.Some days trick learning gets frustrating and I start getting to aggressive. In winds 10+ I can whip out the foil, slam it around a bit and it gives me a nice attitude adjustment. I've got a vented kite that I've had in a little over 30 which is still scary for me right now. Haven't had it long and still learning the kite. My next foil will be a Spiderkite Neon 1.2. Need to get better first. Kites rated up to 45 mph winds and will go over 100 mph. That should keep anybodies attention.35+ gets a little hard for me to stand up in let alone fly a kite. Gonna try though. It's not a bad idea to get a cheap 20 or 30 dollar foil to start but it is better to get one with a good line set. Spectra or Dyneema. The Snapshot comes with a nice 100' x 150# set that I use on 3 framed kites quite a lot. I have 82' x 90#, 100' x 130# /150#, 120' x 50# and 125' x 90#. Fly the 100' lines the most. When first starting out I was more comfortable on 82' lines in 90# and 150#.Getting better on the 125'. Hypnotist has a great stated wind range. To complement that I would suggest the Prism 4D as your next kite. It's a well thought of light wind kite and flea bay has 5 left at $77.00. That's a really good deal. Has no pull and it's not loud though. Good luck on only having 1 framed duel 🛒. I absolutely suck at it.

I use the qel super glue and haven't had a repair fail yet either. On the last 2 I used a little to much on white sails and you can see it a bit. Others you'd have to look real hard to find them. Do like JB says and it will be hardly noticeable. I dip my toothpick into the glue and hold my hand under it till I get to the spot. Don't want glue where it's not needed or to much. All my repairs except 1 have been tiny to small punctures. Got a tear in mylar a little bit smaller than yours. After the repair looks like a small crease or maybe a little dirt. Quit checking on it awhile ago and would have to look to find it. Easy repair but makes me a little sick every time I have to do it.Be patient and steady. The reason they didn't have fancy stunt kites like we got 50 years ago was the lack of SUPER GLUE LOL.

New Trick Kite Selection... Help Me Decide.
Breezin replied to LifeCycle's topic in General Sport Kite
I love my Hydra but I still want a Kymera too. It was a hard choice for me and I didn't make up my mind until I was at the store. Hydra is described as advanced, Kymera as intermediate. Went for the advanced because I got a big ego ☢️. If I would have got a Kymera instead I'm sure because of the price I'd be wanting a Hydra right now. Amazing how many people regret selling their Illusions. Sold a power kite couple days ago because 8.8 meters was to much for me. Part of the deal was a Skydog Black Dog. Regretted selling a Black Dog so I took it. If not for that when the winds got below 15 mph today I would have been flying a new Kymera. -

Karma Drawing: 5-1-18 Prism Nexus dual line
Breezin replied to Mike Klaiber's topic in Karma Drawings
Yeah I seem to be eating a lot more tumbleweeds lately. Their debris has been causing a bit of indigestion though. Very nice looking stack. Seems like this kite thing causes a lot of unexpected itches. -
It's kinda real.Only in a slightly comedic vein though. Before the Kaiju release JB was at GWTW answering questions about the kite. One of the guys with a ton of kite knowledge was asking specifics about it and mistakenly wrote dort .In the context of the conversation I thought it was hilarious and still haven't gotten over it.Iv'e been looking for a purple kite with pink dorts ever since. Still looking .

Talked to OSK and if I remember correctly their line is made in China to their specs. Better then regular Dyneema from China. I was told it's comparable to Prism line or a little better. It's also sold at Into The Wind. I bought HQ 130# x 100'. Cheaper to start but after flying the LPG in the long run the LPG ends up being cheaper in my opinion. When flying the Widow ng I preferred the 150# x 100" Prism line over the 82' x 150# stock line set. Assumed it was the length. Looking back I believe it was more the line quality difference. Like whats been said before get what you can justify. Starting out I wanted top notch lines but the cost put me off. Happy with my Prism line sets and if OSK is comparable think you'd be very satisfied with it.Bought a kite that came with 2 sets of LPG though and now I'm ruined. If I didn't know what I needed to know did I really need to know what I didn't know about lines. Uh I think did.

Would have appreciated at least 60,000 words. Had a long night babysitting my new American Buff goose. Born Friday.Cute little turd bomb.Wouldv'e been a good read. Yesterday flew my vented with average at 20 mph dipped lower more than higher. 2 1/2 hours in winds started dropping a bit. All the sudden wind went to near zero. Kite was coming down and a wind gust came from the opposite direction. Pushed kite went to ground and 5 minutes later wind was blowing from the north again. Went back up back with winds into the low 20's. About 10 minutes in a big gust hit at 25 + and broke a line. Should have not been using 90# sigh. Broke at the kite sleeved end. Best place for a break if there is such a thing. 20 minutes later winds shifted about 1/4 turn, dropped between 10 and 15 and stayed stable for the rest of the day. Switched kites and continued having fun. Only flown in 1 spot on the open prairie. Look at the wind reports every day and it seems about 25% of the time they're off. Conclusion after 6 months in the same place I still don't 100% know what the wind will do from moment to moment.More like 70%.Part of the fun but part of the paranoia too.

Sky Dog starter package! (Apr 20th, 2018)
Breezin replied to John Barresi's topic in Current Drawings
If you fly that foil with some music in your ears avoid whatever those emojies are playing. Whew tried to keep up but after 5 minutes I was gassed. I guess it's some kinda speed metal or wicked fast blue grass. Whatever it is be careful flying your new kites to it. Might pull something. Enjoy your prize . -
Me too.

Beautiful !!! I can only imagine the excitement for you and yours when it first went into the sky. Very, very cool.

Spent a day on the S.W. side of the Big Island watching people fishing with kites along the weed line. Some were out a 1/2 mile. One of the coolest things Iv'e ever seen. Using a quad might be cheating a bit unless you're catching a 6 foot Wahoo .

During the y2k debates I had a lot of family buying gold in case of a collapse. I always argued that if a collapse were to happen 100 lbs of salt and 10,000 bullets would be worth more than 50 lbs of gold. Gold doesn't help the individual gather, defend or preserve food. Never lost the argument as far as I could tell. The salt pan pics really make me appreciate my refrigerator . Like this KAP stuff a lot. Although, kites are for TRICKING!! Glad others are not so narrow minded as I LOL.
