Ha that's funny !!

Hey I thought they were trying to get dinner!! Now that I understand it was for fun my whole perspective has changed. They really are scaring the fish.

Let's see things to be envious of in kiting. Kites and Fun Things is my local kite shop. Wow top 3 for sure. Drove around in a Pinto years ago. Had a 350 chevy engine and was scary fast.Freaked a lot of people out with that car. Frame didn't last long though. Flying with Jon T and those folks you'll probably do more on the Vision in a month than I can do on the Widow Maker Pro after 6 months of flying. WMP is a Ferrari . Might not be able to fly it like the Ferrari it is but like most Ferrari owners I sure look good standing next to it LOL. You're gonna have a ball!!

Kite Aliens? Is that where Prism came up with the Alien design? Honest my dear I really didn't want another kite. The dreaded Kite Aliens made me do it. No,no I don't need my head examined I read about them on Kite Life. How dare you suggest such a thing !! Of course they're real !! Yeah I know, alright, okay. Yes I'll make the appointment with the shrink tomorrow. Sigh. My things can sure get strange in a hurry.

That bugs been kicking my butt since Thursday. Hopefully I can fly this afternoon. It's been hack, hack here have a lung. Apparently I don't need it anymore. We're advised to stretch new lines and equalize before 1st flight. Finally started doing that on my last 3 sets. Lot less pain in the brain. I was nervous and really over thought the process the 1st few times.Had knots slip and even come undone. Few snarls too. After one of those Makatakam moments I remembered to breath and the simplicity came into focus. Piece of cake now. My Prism lines stretched a lot. Doesn't mean you got poor lines. It's been explained to me most kite assembly lines will not stretch flying lines due to labor cost.Pain in the neck but makes sense since it is easy to do.The experts tell us to practice tricks equally on both sides so we become more ambidextrous in our flying. Do a axle with your left then your right and so on. Lessen that effect Wayne is talking about and makes us better fliers. Having left and right handed newbies at the same starting point is going to be a real advantages for you folks.I'm still working on not being right hand dominate. When I get in the zone I forget and most everything starts out from my right side.Still have to pause a lot and make the left side of my body lead.Glad you and yours 1st flights were good ones. Can't hardly tell from the excellent avatar that the poor kite was nose dived a few times LOL.

Loved my Addiction. It's pretty fast. The new design is the Addiction Pro. Really want one. SHBKF advice is gold. I'll list what I did since starting in November. Not a bad kite in the bunch. Widow ng, Nighthawk, Addiction, Jewel, Micron, Jet Stream Speed Reloaded, Zephyr, Hydra, Pro Dancer. Widow Maker Pro, Mind Trick, GFK 1.4, Snapshot 1.4 and Black Dog. After discussions with the Mrs. this is the duel lines I have for the next year of learning. Pro Dancer SUL, Zephyr UL, Widow Maker Pro STD, Hydra STD, Mind Trick vented and Snapshot 1.4. These kites will take me as far as I can go. Where that is we'll see. Couldn't stand the thought of advancing to the point where I could blame my failures on the kites. With these kites that potential excuse is removed and will never exist. But then I want to fly like those guys . Think it's a well rounded quiver of kites.I don't know though. That Benson Super Fly is sure looking shall I say FLY.

The smallest Synapse has inferior lines. It's worth going to the 170 if you can. The better lines can be used on trick kites if you go further up the food chain. If you haven't already look at some pics and vids of people stacking the Nexus. Neat stuff.

I am new myself. Started researching 2 line stunt kites in Oct 2017 and the 1st week of Nov. got my 1st kite. A lot of folks here will say get the best you can afford and grow into the kite.I concur and my 1st kite was a Premier Widow ng. Moved on to the top of the line Widow Maker Pro but doubt I mastered 20% of what the Widow ng can do. I think a few with the total being $100.00 you will be disappointed. Around $100.00 a lot of folks will recommend the Prism Quantum. Never flown one but it's reputation is a tough kite. I have a Prism Zephyr but it's a very different kite. Love it.In the Prism line I think the Hypnotist versus Quantum is the better bang for the buck. Quantum is limited on tricks pretty quick but probably the top of the line starter kite.$100.00 I suggest Flying Wings Silver Fox 2.5 or 2.3 used or Premier Wolf or Addiction Pro new. If you are worried about breaking during the learning curve get used to it cause you will. I also got a Prism Snapshot 1.4 duel line foil that really helped in learning basic control. Virtually unbreakable, fast and fun. Still fly it because sometimes just bombing around is all I want to do. Iv'e had a Premier Nighthawk [older version of Wolf ng] and Addiction. Had a blast on those kites. Sold them and a few others to fund a Sky Sport Design vented kite. Wish I could have kept them. Go to the right and click on Into the Wind. They have a killer deal on the Hydra or Kymera. I got a Hydra and it is outstanding. They have a sul called the swift while maybe not the best gets you in the low wind game pretty cheap. They also sell the Beetle.See what you can budget but for $300.00 to $350.00 you can get a nice wind range of kites. SUL, UL, Standard and a foil for learning control and higher winds. Shop right and those 4 types of kites will take you a long way.Nothing worse than wanting to fly and you don't have a kite for the wind conditions. Look at used. It can be a risk but I have gotten 2 outstanding deals. 1 here and the other on the GWTW forum. I've followed close to 200 2nd hand kite transactions on these 2 forums and have not seen a thief in the mix.Speaks volumes about how much these forums are thought of.If you decide to get a cheap $30.00 to see if you like it at least you're flying.Remember though the better the kite the better the experience. Kinda like chocolate.Have fun.

I don't see it as disrespectful at all. People put up beautiful memorials to those they loved or respected and why wouldn't they want that shared? Eerie maybe but not disrespectful. Think of it as sharing a place of serenity and reflection. People walk through that place all the time. Some take photos. Most if not all would appreciate that what you guys are doing is beautiful and done with respect. The shot is really neat.Looking at the pictures and reading a little of the history reminded me of a quote that I have kept on my refrigerator door for over 30 years. It is from Pastor Martin Niemoller. First they came for the socialists and I did not speak out-because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionist and I did not speak out-because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews and I did not speak out- because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me. Maybe somebody in Argentina looks at those pictures and remembers they have a great, great uncle buried there and it brings a sad smile of reflection. Thinking about the way things once were and should have been. Then they go buy a kite because kiting is so cool. Ya never know.

When I 1st started looking at kites the color choices were mind boggling. How do you choose? None are ugly. Not even a black and orange combo to my surprise. Not even kites with polka dorts err dots. Pretty soon I didn't care.Just get the best deal for the kite and color quickly became secondary. Colorizers sure are fun though. Picked neon green for my PDSUL figuring that would pop well in a blue sky. It does. The prairie around here is pretty much golden 9 months of the year and neon green looks good on the ground too. Noticed right off with the semi translucent neon I could see the kite better.Got the Hydra and noticed I could see the lines and flow of the kite a little better than the others. Figured that's just me getting better and the kites are different then the others. Hydra comes white with the choice of blue, red or green stripe across the center. Mines blue. Then I got the White Widow. It's not the difference in the kites or improved skills accounting for better perception. It's white!! Monday I flew the Mind Trick for the 1st time and had the same sense. It's predominately white. Yesterday morning winds were 30 mph early morning and dropped in a steady fashion throughout the day. Was not up to the 25+ of Mondays fly. Waited till winds were between 15 and 20. Went up on the Mind Trick for about a hour. Figured out I hadn't been tensioning the sail right. Those nocks are sure different. Really like them a lot. Winds went below 15 and flew the Hydra for about 1 1/2 hour .Winds dropped lower and got the Zephyr. Hadn't flown the Zephyr for a bit and wow. The inferno red was startling. Again. It's beautiful. For the 1st time ever I thought the orca color would be better. Orca color mostly white. My perception of the kites flow was not as good as the others because of the color. Not drastic at all but slightly noticeable. Wind forecast for today was a little off. Got the MT right and flew for about a hour. Was massively impressed with the 2 previous flights. Can you believe it's even better when put together properly . Winds got lower and flew the Widow Maker. Winds got even lower and wanted to get the PDSUL to see what I would think after flying 2 white kites. Had so much fun bouncing the Widow around in 0 to 2 waiting for a gust to fly that I got tired before getting it out. The shine and glitter of white in the light is stunning. Did not choose white. Just the way these 3 kites have come to me. I am so OK with white that if I had to go back in time and start over every kite would be white, mostly white or a very light color scheme. Think it helps the learning curve for me. Next kite I hope is black or midnight blue cause I want to see what that'll do too. Hmm if the deals right though don't think I'll care .

Wow straight to the dark side . You may shortly find out as I did, that is a massive understatement. Some people around here are so hooked they fly in parking lots and they're GOOD at it!!
-
Spent 3 hours on this kite today . Wind 25 mph sustained with some gusts I'm sure hitting 30. Absolutely amazed. Love this kite. Shipped promptly and packed exceedingly well. Did I say I was pleased? No? Well that would have just been a major understatement anyways !!!

Yesterday was rough. A day where it was hard to stay human. One where I wanted to unleash the animal and rage. 4 AM my American Great Dane Lady Izzy Bella woke me up in distress. She asked to go outside and I saw she was bleeding from her rectum. She went to one of my Akbash Shepherd flock guardians layed down and would not get up. Got a couple quilts to keep her warm and Beksi stayed with her until it was time to go to the vet. The doc doesn't get in till 7:45 and it was one long long wait. Izzy was one tough girl but passed 10 minutes after I got her there. She was only 4 and I was not prepared for this at all. Doubt she could have been saved had I gotten her there immediately. Spent the morning preparing her grave where she is in excellent company with other lost friends. Had many wonderful dogs in my life. Izzy was the kindest most gentle dog Iv'e ever had the privilege of knowing. She is greatly missed.Got done with my task, not quite knowing what to do with myself. Tried playing some music but it was just sad stuff so I stopped. Really wanted to fly. Winds were running 15 and I knew my concentration would be off. Frustration would ensue, anger would come and I'd probably break something.Popped onto the forum and the kind words and banter is just what I needed. For me when I lose one of my animal friends the 1st feeding after the loss is the hardest. Then the soothing starts to come. It's coming now. Winds are running 8 mph + or- a bit.Going to go fly the White Widow. That glorious smooth flight is much needed this morning. Thanks all.

I thought the Zodarian would be faster. Funny how much I liked the noise in the Widow ng when I started. Kinda depended on it when trying not to crash was up most on my mind. Now I seem to like the soft hiss with a tight leech line. Widow Maker makes a lot less noise. Thought it would have a similar roar. I perceive it as faster but could be the lighter touch and more precise sharper turns. By the time I get enough hours to discern the difference most of my recollections of the Widow ng will be filled with nostalgia LOL. Will be fun to do a side by side comparison one day.

Hey I'm starting to get a big head here. To big and I'll end up breaking something to humble myself. Subconsciously of course. Should be way beyond that breaking stuff. That's for newbies right. See Big Head Ted is happening already

Some of the kites you've sold recently have been quite educational just researching them. Some really really nice stuff. Man here I am waiting on one thinking of another. Getting that Widow ng put me on a never ending quest. It's all your fault and I thank you very, very much

Thanks this kiting community has been incredibly inspirational. When I was starting I didn't realize how big a part of my life this would become. It's like the more you learn the more you want to learn because it's impossible to learn it all. Started with a crying grand kid asking me to fix his broken kite. Didn't know how but now I do . You would think it would get a little boring trying to do slides 15 times in a row. A little frustrating at times but never boring. I'm on number 14 get set up thinking I'm in the groove. Gonna be a long smooth one this time. Start the slide wind shifts and danged if it ain't the worst one of the day. If that doesn't make you laugh at yourself, well lighten up a bit. The wind doesn't care.

Never used a tail on my Widow ng. Looks really cool and kinda regretting I never did.
-
Find myself going to the SKD site a lot. They look super nice. I know you can put brakes on any kite but theirs look like a brake option was part of the design. Could be that that's just my lack of knowledge. Compared to the few pics Iv'e seen on other kites theirs look like part of the kite not a add on. Velly, velly interesting.

Had been starting to save for a Sport Kite Design vented awhile back. Couple weeks ago a White Sky Burner Widow Maker Pro never flown came up for sale. It is believed that Steve Tapp created 5 of these sails.I am so very pleased and fortunate to have gotten this kite. Kite Party 16 has some nice pics of a Sky Burner Solus flying with this same color layout. Let go 5 kites to get back on track and have no regrets although they will be missed . Prior to today I had about 2 1/2 hours on kite. Not doing much. Just getting the feel. Mostly slides, stalls.Turtles, fades and pancakes. Not forcing anything, just really enjoying it's flight. Today winds were a pretty steady 15 mph. Few gusts bumping 18+ but nothing violent. Put kite together and went up on 100' x 150# line. Kite spun out of control in a right hand spin. Checked kite all ok. Up and same thing. Checked all bridle connections.Bridle ok. Walked line back with my thumbnails. Up and same thing. Remembered about tension release in different sails. Re did lower spreader releasing lower tension. Up same thing. Back to the kite. Took out top spreader and undid stand offs again releasing upper tension. Viola problem solved. Do not ask me why. Something about some sails needing to breath in there 1st few flights.Glad I had read about that or I would have been very frustrated. Maybe damaged the kite. Once underway, couple minutes in perma grin froze my face for the next 2 1/2 hours. WOW!!! Kite is stunning. Hour later went to 100' x 130# and fell in love even more. Kite is very feminine. LIKE A AMAZON WARRIOR !!! Started to name her after the Roman Empress Theodora( born 500 died 548 ). 1 1/2 hour in the incredible controlled nimbleness of the kite changed my mind. She will be called White Widow. Read a few comparisons between the Widow ng and Widow Maker Pro. The following is opinion and not a review. I am not qualified to review. Between 2 and 5 mph kites felt very similar. If doubting these low wind ranges I live at 6200 feet with humidity less then 20% most days. Kick a football and it goes further than in Toledo, Spain (round) or Toledo U.S.A (real football shape ). Maybe that's why. Can't trick in 3 on either but can began to window hunt. Below 3 both come to the ground but with practice I think I'll be able to keep the White Widow aloft a bit longer. Going above 4 and 5 mph the similarities end. Loved my Widow ng and 0 complaints. For me once powered up they are way different. In 15 and a little over the ng would tire me out in a hour or so. The pull while not overpowering and a lot of fun would have me wrist wrapping my handles. The White Widow in 18 mph felt best with 2" finger straps using 1st 2 fingers. 1/2 the pull in 18 then the Widow ng in 12 mph. Widow ng has 4 nose adjustments. White Widow 6. A little tweaking on the ng nose some of that pull would go away. Don't know how and never felt the need to mess with it. For me at it's price point the Widow ng is a perfect kite. Everything is more flowing on the White Widow than any other kite I have flown. I have nothing to really reference it to from personal experience. Seller asked me to post a video so I will. Be a little bit. Want to fly a little better 1st. Got a little more fragile ego than some of you . If you have never flown a Sky Burner Widow Maker Pro and somebody offers you the chance grab those lines before they change their mind. Then make up your own mind. Mine is. I love it.At this point I do not see how a kite can be better than the White Widow. Different and on par yes. Better? I'll see. Mind Trick vented will be here Mon. I am 99.999% sure that I will be just as thrilled with it. It's going to be very different. In the next year I think the Zephyr and Hydra will be my most flown kites. They are both tough kites and I got a lot to learn. Taking what I learn and then transposing it to the other kites seems the prudent thing to do. At least that's the plan. Next up Benson Super Nova UL. That is a Spring 2019 goal. If you have a Super Nova to sell (color does not matter)please wait till 3/26/19. I don't think I can take many more gotta have it jitters.

Revised list of kites for sale (originally over 2 dozen)
Breezin replied to Deb's topic in Kites for Sale, Swap or Trade
May I suggest posting at GWTW forum also.Upon commitment, when I buy or sell payment is required within the hour unless other arrangements are in discussion or agreed upon. Otherwise back on the block.Seems to have served me well over there and here. 2 transactions here. 5 there. All A+ from my perspective. GWTW is different then here. While you're over there don't be surprised when Mr. Barresi pops in for a visit . -
Yes it did get better!! Wow!
