Sustained dragging of the wing tip. Lucked out and haven't broke a kite doing tip stabs. Mostly do those when winds are really light and having a hard time keeping the kite in the air.Probably why. I think my Black Dog is what you describe. It uses a Ecell center tee. So did my Jet Stream Reloaded.

Absolutely fantastic !!!

I DID. Just took 50 years to finally do what I was told LOL.

One of the simplest moves that will get your heart pounding is to reverse flight with nose spinning towards the ground not the sky. Start mid window and work your way down the window. When you get the knack (takes awhile)you'll be right on the edge of disaster. As the nose points the other way the wing tip will drag the ground and you"re doing a shark. From there you can do other tricks like the cartwheel.Caught 2 out of 5 on the Tekken sul yesterday. Today on the Widow and Hydra none. Practicing shark based tricks will gain you a membership into the most infamous BLEC (broken leading edge club). There are no awards, pins ,trophies or ribbons. You do get a invoice for replaced parts that you can frame though. Plus a lot of folks sharing the trick or crash that gained them membership. I've only broke 3 doing cartwheels so far. That's a good thing.

5 minutes on a Vision in 20 mph seems pretty darn good to me. Vision is the least tricky kite I've flown. Snap stalls, tip stands, spin landings and the like were fun the few times I've flown the grand kids. 5 to 15 is the better range for that kite. Best lower cost kite I've flown in 15 to 20 is the Premier Addiction. Tough as the Vision and a lot trickier. Faster though. The Addiction Pro is on my want list. It's a long list.

Video came up for me this time.Cool stuff. Got me some of those padded straps. Worth the cost.

My neutral position is elbows in against my sides with forearms extended. It's just ended up that way for better or worse. Year from now it might be different.Push turns at the start seemed counter intuitive to me also. I'll add this to Exults excellent description. When pulling you're increasing pressure. Pushing is dumping the pressure. Going to the top of the window and practicing axles and 1/2 axles got me to really dig into the push turns. The little push before the harder pull started the process for me. You can clearly see the kite billow and dump the wind. When I 1st started the basic moves seemed boring. Took me awhile to realize that combining the push, pull and combo turns results in about 32 basic precision moves. That leads to around 1032 precision based patterns to start. Boring, boy was I wrong. Watch Gregory Hines or Art Kelly dance. Both choreographed most of their routines from the basic 4 step box waltz. From there it's onto the kite ballet which is only limited by our imagination. That makes tricking even better cause you start understanding the why. The why becomes more rewarding than the how. I get most frustrated when I get stuck on the how forgetting to ask why.Who here among us has truly mastered the art of flying? No one. I think that's why the ones we fledglings call masters keep flying.Just when you think you got it down the wind changes. Man I need a thong.

That might be a understatement. Very cool.

Think slower instead of delay. Semantics I know but it makes a difference in how I relate to the kite. Back issues myself. Some days better than others. On high wind days at times the next day is a no go. Getting better though cause the kites make me use a bunch of muscles. Above 12 mph I always tilted the nose back. Never had a problem with the tail weight or spreader popping out. Except on hard crashes with all my kites. Last couple times on the Tekken SUL I adjusted at the out hauls. Can fly and trick a little lower. Not by much but in 0 to 3 it's noticeable. Can hop the kite in 0 to 1 doing tip stands and flips now. Things I could only do on my 3/4 kites. Got this yesterday . It's in A+ shape. Guys moving to the S. Carolina coast and I couldn't talk him out of his Trixster. Tried but I'm still pretty stoked to get this old bird. Rained when I got it home. Today was a SUL day. Maybe it'll fly tomorrow for the 3rd time in it's life.

Gives a different meaning to take a seat. Pole dancing too LOL.

Hmm a clover leaf banner also? That'd make clover leaf honey. Sweet, sweet, sweet.

Ha Ha Ha, I suppose most of us are happy with the arm length we got.

Yikes yes it is. Don't know if it was all that ugly. Made my eyes hurt so bad I couldn't look at it long enough to decide how bad it was. Funner to make them look nice.

That's a logo ??? Man I was hoping I'd finally found a Dort. The rubber logo on the Widow ng was a little off.Bugged me for a couple weeks. Asked Jon T the best way to remove it because I kept snagging the lines on it. He said " oh I've never snagged the lines like that in hours of flying the ng".I took it as a very polite your flying must really suck LOL. Month later I didn't suck so much and grew to like the logo.I'm going to try to colorize a ugly Djinn 🙈. Just don't know if that's possible 🙉. Compelled to try though 🙊.

4 stack of Quantums in 18 mph 🤪. Video please, please PLEASE!! Congrats.

Exults description of the Hydra is spot on for me too. When trying new things it and the Prism Zephyr are what I usually turn too. From a practical sense I probably got to many kites. In reality though I don't have enough. A hard thing for me is not buying something similar to one I already got. Been successful so far and all are pretty different from each other. It's the reason I haven't got a Soul std and ul. My Black Dog and Nighthawk are my 3/4 kites. Both are very capable tricksters but very different in flight and construction. The simplistic design of the Black Dog is pretty amazing. All 6 mm carbon frame. Heavy on the lines in a good way, tough and will fly in a wide wind range.Nighthawk is framed in P300 and P200 Sky Shark. Lighter on the lines and not quite as tough of a frame. Main difference for me is the Black Dog tip wraps easier and has a bit more precision. Tip wraps are not a good thing when learning. Last couple times out those are the kites I've been flying. Mainly trying to discern the differences and why. Sold both to get my Widow Maker but replaced them recently. Both kites are a blast. Most of my ground work and 1 to 2 feet acrobatics I've learned on the 3/4 size kites. Once you get it the 3/4 is funner but the bigger kites are more rewarding. The excitement of not crashing LOL. Have to agree that the bigger sails would be best for a newbie. The smaller kites are quicker and you can over steer real easy. Last time I went to ITW on a weekday I was stunned at the crowd. Really like those people. If you want we could meet up there, get some advice and go fly where they do. I'll pull the trigger and get their quad handle and line set. Wayne seems pretty happy with that OSK line.Do some research on the Blue Moon Mamba. That's Brandons 1st kite 😮. The guy who built that kite shows up here now and again. A MASTER!!! I believe he's the one sewing the Fulcrum. Look at his past builds and you'll be blown away. You'll learn something too.

Every video of team flying I've watched the participants are having a blast. From newbie to pro. Some have made me laugh until teary eyed. Reason I got a quad.

I really like that too Khsidekick. Until this one the patterns to me are like a cyclops or a ripple effect. All very cool. This brings to mind a rising sun.

I'm an hour east of Colorado Springs. Teach me to fly my 1.5 Rev and you can fly my Widow Maker Pro. Only flyable precision kite I got is a TOTL Hawaiian. You can fly that too. Built for precision. I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a trick in it.Just got this one and it needs some work . Going to keep the one stock . This one I'll repair and re frame. Sails pretty rough. Thinking about venting for 30+ winds. Can I get a 45 here. 45,45, anyone 45 ? Frame can handle it but can I ? Sold my Widow ng to get a Widow Maker Pro. I think they're quite different. Look into the RTF Prism Zephyr. More slower and methodical than my other kites.Above 12 mph it'll get some zippy zip going though. Very easy and rewarding to fly. Like mine a lot.As I'm learning it's the kite I can follow the most. Flying Wings Soul blemished on Ebay for $130.00 could very well be what you're looking for right now. You'd have to get a line set though.Went on a 20 minute rant from here but deleted it. Ya'll are welcome .

Flew the Nighthawk for a little over an hour. Winds gusting over 20 at times so will go back out on my Mind Trick vented. Addiction Pros are still for sale at K&FT. Figured my Nighthawk would be replaced with a Wolf ng. Going to fly the grand kids Addiction side by side with the Psycho and I'll let you know.Leaning towards Psycho. Nighthawk at my skill set is a little easier to trick than the Addiction.Addiction is so responsive it's easier to lose control. The plus is it's easy to get control back which is 1/2 the reason why it's so much fun. Pulling out of a mistake that I know would crash any of my other kites has led to tears at times (laughter). The Nighthawk felt like I had flown it yesterday. Super happy to have it back. It's one of those kites that are proof you don't need a boutique kite to be a trick monster. If you told me I'd have to give up my Premiers Jewel, Addiction, Nighthawk and Widow ng to get 1 Widow Maker Pro I'd say. WAIT a minute I did. Would not hesitate to do it again and I loved by Premiers. Wish I could describe better what a WMP is like but violent elegance is what always comes to mind. Something I hope everyone gets to experience. Shocking to me as it is I know some will not care for it near as much as I do. You Tube Nighthawk and you'll find a guy in Florida on one doing some of the most excellent flying.

Very well put Frob. Last time grand kids were here it was obvious my lack of discipline was evident in the 2 boys. The girl really wants to succeed on a personal level. She's the one that asks if I do this what will the kite do a lot. The boys are very competitive and emulate my reckless abandon that I have at times. Not easy for me to get them settled into basic moves. The girl is 7 and prefers their Vision over their Addiction. She prefers my Zephyr over my Hydra. They all like the Zephyr best Haven't let those boys fly the Hydra yet They're as crazy as the Addiction and I'd like to keep the Hydra intact. It'll come but in the beginning I wasn't a very good example for the basics. Except I was having a blast and they all could see that this is going to be FUN, FUN, FUN. We have all concluded that yes indeed it is.
-
So I put all this into a program. Mind Altering Deficiencies(MAD). Results of testing concluded all participants who go 1 week without anything kite related have an abnormally high propensity towards grumpiness. To be approached gently with slight caution.

Love that reference to cooling steel.Never thought of a kite like that before. Very visual in my mind.

Sigh this topic is like getting kicked in the butt.Repeatedly. I went for the PFAFF. Used. New one cost more than a Level One Reloaded 😞.
