  1. There's some weight differences as you add wraps to the rods! Nothing super major and you should see pretty much the same flex in any "wrapped" rod, whether 2, 3, 4! The black race has the weight of 2 wrap, but the strength of 3 wrap and a different flex characteristic altogether! They are not anymore resistant to breakage than any of the others, not their purpose, the flex thing is what sets them apart! Look cooler - can you see through the LE pocket? SLE rods - put them away in the closet!! Or use them to spank the kids - HAHA! Watch your LE, it'll tell you when to switch rods!! I almost always start with the lightest set I think will work and adjust from there! If you get a big bow when flying, swap to some heavier rods!! If you get no flex at all, go to something lighter! The Rev uses that flex to move, but too much isn't good either and you risk breaking them! In general all the rods are stronger than we expect, but s@@@ happens! Until you build up some experience, err on the "strong" side of things! Another thing - if you feel like you need 4 wraps in the std sail, switch to the vented! If you put too strong a set of rods in a sail, you risk stretching it to the point of not being able to just tighten the bungees and get it out!! Again, err on the "safer" side! I didn't go to the handle link Nick gave you, but I'm guessing it's on how to "mod" stock handles to no-snags! If you go this route, it does really work well! I have done this to 5 different sets and got good results everytime! Stands the test of time very well and a pretty cheap way to do it! Any questions - just ask!
  2. The snagless handles are sweet to use! No problems with them! That skin looks really nice, use it well! The "black" race rods are the bomb - different flex than any of the regular wrap rods!!
  3. WHEW!!!!
  4. Whatever John does is good by me!! Might be a bit selfish, hoping the redraw might bring my number up and those kites to me! But I'm good with whatever is done!!
  5. Just no blow torches ! Been there, done that, don't want to do it again ! :ani_wallbash: BLOW TORCH!! You're just looking for trouble!!!
  6. John? You got the one with Annika from last year? She was 8 at the time, I think!
  7. If your hole frays a bit, then any of the sealing ideas will keep that in check!! Most of us Rev fliers use some sort of sealing idea on our LE pockets, which fray over time at the ends! Just as long as you keep the actual sail and any other small bits, bridle, fittings, etc, carefully out of harms way, you can use which ever idea works best for you!!
  8. Depends on who used it first!!! If I was first, you owe me that kite!!
  9. Congrats Robert, fly them well!!
  10. Did you cut the tail in half or did it come that way? I have one and the tail is a single piece about 50' with attachment points on both ends! I've used it on my Rev spanning tip to tip with the one tail!! Looked nice!!
  11. John hasn't talked with the RNG yet? One last try at "influence"! Gotta give the RNG something to chew on!!
  12. What lurks in the heart of the RNG? Does it even have a heart? But maybe you're right, it's just a machine spitting out random numbers??? Do I really want to believe that???
  13. Yes! And you're right in the difficulty factor! Mark Reed even says that it is the move to learn with the initial stall first, then slide!!
  14. OK,OK, I'll break the 300 barrier with this one!! You folks are going through so much trouble for nothing - really!! Just accept your fate and be happy for the winner!! PS: That be ME!!
  15. Gerry Ralls and his wife? I should be up there in the afternoon around 12ish or so! Not sure how many others given it's a work day! Bring your 120's!!
  16. Dual line kites got me hooked years ago, but quads have given me a new life on kites! But over the last couple of years, I've found indoor flying and great gliders to use! Who knew that there was so much fun on the end of one line? PS: I also use an Indoor Rev!!
  17. Hope those dreams don't turn to nightmares!!
  18. AW Shucks!!! That's why I didn't print it!!! Still, I'm looking to win!!
  19. Nick - I'm thinking that your "solution" would blow Revolution's budget all to hell! John - while I agree with Nick's "solution", I also see that it's impractical!! Glad to banter and "influence", but winning isn't everything!! Do I need to finish this with the punch line??
  20. Club?? I guess 2 make a club!! No matter these are staying right here in the good ole US of A! And just in case ya might need some reminding there RNG - Should be getting the message, eh??
  21. Can't hurt to try!!!
  22. Sorry, but while you folks quibble over the semantics of the RNG, I'm busy trying to "influence" it into picking my #!!! Newbies - more to cry over not winning this!!
  23. Sorry John - you're the Master of Ceremony here!! RNG - send them to me!!!
