Glad to see it's at least functioning!! Bunch of PMs got lost during the whole thing. We'll get over it!
-
I had wondered about them as I never saw any on my desktop computer or even my laptop! Kept looking to see what you saw and wasn't sure. Glad the forum is sorted out for now!!

Looking good pm!!

I could handle it being my turn!!!

Most likely a 3 wrap, as it is the average frame most used. If you really want one lighter (2 wrap), consider making your own. Dremel tool or fine tooth hacksaw will do the cutting, a bit of glue and you have what you want! Like Paul said though - adding the extra ferrules makes the LE stiffer, so be aware!

Rod / spar - same thing In a single, I wouldn't consider the Rev 1 as a power kite, stacked, it might be a different story! On the converting to "no-snags" with regular handles - yes you can do just the bottoms, but it is pretty easy to do both tops and bottoms. Over on the Rev forum is a video by Watty on doing it using the "Stone in Shoe Bob" method. Simple to do, I've probably done 4-5 sets this way and they've lasted for years. I favor them over stockers because it is one less moving part (hog rings) on the handle and creates a direct link to the kite. Does pretty much what you've done, only it still uses the full length of the handle.

My usual maintenance routine is to rinse the salt water and sand out of the wound set of lines and place them in a towel to dry, after a good shake. Rinsing is just a good dunking in a container deep enough to cover the set and leave it for awhile. Dry overnight!

Doesn't the Blast series also use specially made handles?? Re enforced with graphite wraps or something like that?

BLUE?? BLUE?? Yeah baby!!!

yea Barry!! Wait - how's that gonna fit in the trailer with all those SLKs??

1. The Rev 1 is from the same "family" as the 1.5, just bigger. Personally, I don't like the Mylar panels - they don't stretch with the rest of the fabric, Some will like them, some don't. With the correct rods, it can be flown down into the 2-3 mph range, but still a lot of work to do so. Light wind flying in general usually is - there are no "freebies", it's all about technique, not just equipment. PS: I usually fly a Zen (same size as a 1) now. but had used my 1 with race rods for light winds. 2. The Blast 2-4 is from the "power kite" side of the family. Meant as a hard pulling kite designed I believe, to be an "engine" for buggies and boards. While designed to do everything any Rev will do, prepare to be pulled hard unless flown in lighter winds. My first "real" Rev was a 1, still have it and fly it some. Closing in on 20 years old!! 1.5s are now my kite of choice. That size lends itself to many of the improvements made over the years. Look at any line, flying team, and you will see almost always, a group of 1.5s flying together. One of the reasons they are made in several models - adapt sails to wind conditions! Which you decide to get is up to what you are looking for in your kite flying experience - more precision or more pull - your choice!

Leading Edge and Down Spars
Wayne Dowler replied to DeafThunder's topic in Adjustments and Modifications
By words - I meant there are WORDS on the labels, in the case of the older rods - that is ALL there are! Rev started using the "feather" system several years ago on silver labels. Prior rods used gold labels and only the words!! Knowing what each means you can identify the rods no matter the label or year made. Just to add - EXP rods (no feathers on label) = 3 wrap ultralight rods -
Who ya gonna call if there is a problem - China?? Yep - it's cheaper and in the end may be OK, but what if it isn't? Now you have a cheap kite taking up room in the bag or closet - NFG! Save up and get an EXP - got everything you need to fly, made in America, and if you have problems - huge network of dealers to access.

Leading Edge and Down Spars
Wayne Dowler replied to DeafThunder's topic in Adjustments and Modifications
Just to clear/add to any confusion on rods: 2 wraps - marked with 2 feathers or the words - Professional Use 3 wraps - marked with 3 feathers or the words - Ultra Light 4 wraps - marked with 4 feathers or the words - Revolution Equipped Black and Green Race - marked with flames and the word - Race Saw in OP's last post he referred to 2 wrap ultralights, not marked that way! Most kites with the SLE leading edge use either 3 or 4 wrap rods for the verticals. The only thing the TTDK move could be to me, is that he is turning the handles in the direction the leading edge is facing. At least in the side to side movement, not possible in the inverted position! The "cup" you see, is one that more experienced fliers are OK with. We want flex in our setup to allow control. Most new fliers panic seeing flex, it looks like something should break! Too flat and while the kite can go fast, not much in the way of control. You learn to monitor that flex - too much and you change to a stiffer frame. Not enough means go to a lighter one. -

Leading Edge and Down Spars
Wayne Dowler replied to DeafThunder's topic in Adjustments and Modifications
The SLE rods are used only in the leading edge, not for down spars. You would be restricted by the size of the caps, as to how big a rod it will accept. Golf shafts are tapered, Rev rods are straight. Yep - 200' is LONG - not many of us have any flying area that will let us use that long a line. Max length most use is 120', it is the team "standard" world wide. I can go almost anywhere and find people flying on that length and join in. That said - many of us also use shorter sets too. Lets us use smaller fields or places the long lines just won't fit in. I use 30', 50', 75', 85', and 120', depending on winds and area. Not sure about what "shaking everywhere" means? Flying Revs isn't a stand still activity! Or hands completely still either! But you do use your hands/wrists more with Revs, not the push/pull of 2 line kites. And you do move your body - in and out, side to side, not very stationary. Yes to tightening up the bunji cords on the ends. It's also on the tips too. Tighten to remove horizontal wrinkles, but not so tight as to create vertical ones. Overtightening leads to sail stretch, no return from that. Sorry so few videos have any subtitles, not a common issue and really up to the editing skills of those submitting them. There are some with picture in picture views I think. Might have to look for those. -
10' is indoor length for most!

Rev 2s??? 6' LE?? or are they 1.5s with a 7 1/2' LE?? I don't see the tornado symbol that designates the Rev B2 series. -
Not sure Prism ever did make a true indoor only kite. Yes the 3 and 4-Ds will work, but there are better sails for the job of indoor, Some are out of production, some are new, some older designs, but there are better indoor choices than those 2. PS: and don't forget about the Indoor Rev!!!!!

Funny angle and the one on the right hasn't got the caps on, to stretch the LE to full length. PS: were these a custom set? Not a color combo I know of in these, but ...?????
