I'm happy for you for getting into kite flying while deployed, I just can't believe you're buddies can't see the same thing, unless they are looking down at their smart phones looking for direction! Geez, at 30 knots you could have drag races if others can appreciate what you're doing there as a pass time, "THE LONE WOLF" Where are you located other than the middle east?
  2. Am I reading, "Modification" of a kite is for folks that do know their piloting skill inadequacies?

Least you didn't get drug around for the first time at 30 knots! That's a good thing! Just make sure you eat your Wheaties before flying, not after! I never flew one but there must be good tricks on setting them up ready to fly.
  4. The revolution equipped label indicates you have a 4 wrap frame. I'm not sure if a zen frame or a 3 wrap or race frame would work best on your rev 1. But if you know anyone with a zen you may want to try their frame first before buying a zen frame.
  5. I recently parted with my last 4 Randy Tom revs including a Patrick Nagel girls. I know rev got the oversized skins that Randy did but was completed at rev, I know some of my masterpiece skins from different artists was completed "by Bazzer" once rev received the skins.
  6. There you go, so next step on your way to covering the complete wind range is the full vent. Mid and extra vents can wait for down the road sometime.
  7. I don't know if anyone in the forum has a Phoenix yet, your best bet is to contact Bazzer directly for exact rod sizes, I would guess they would fit, but guessing isn't as accurate as knowing for sure.
  8. Kinda reminds me of Carl Robertshaw's Rev 1 pattern.
  9. In picture, you can larkshead the white leaders onto the empty black leaders to see what range is usable while you're waiting for your new leaders to arrive.
  10. I'm going to say by reading the first statement, "newbie-forum-kiting" Flying a multi-linked kite per-say, is to learn how to fly/control it far far away from places where many people may appear in a very short time. In this case it was an rc vehicle vs. tethered aircraft, per say, but, one has human power, the other has electric power and controlled through radio wave, inputs. Who has the right of way? Who is responsible for the other persons damage? It's best to find a very private place to learn to fly kites. A set of 120' quad-lines is too nice of an item to vanish right before your eyes!

Well, I hope you get it on Monday then! If you have a tracking number, Don't follow it, it takes away from the joy of the kite arriving.

I was wondering what the m meant in the sizes? I know my ultralight chute is around 46.5m if the m means square meters. Looking at the car in the picture with the chute, I cant tell the size of the car or the chute other than 5m means something. The 12 floor tiles are covered by the chute. So what does the m actually mean?
  14. Bill, I have to say I can't see any line attached to the bottom leader, I can see a line attached to the top leader, but the bottom leader at the top of the picture no, I know my eyes are going, I think I need a 60" screen! I can't imaging what people can see on a smart phone, I was looking on a 21" screen.
  15. To tell the truth, I haven't looked at Club 38, for that matter, I have never been on facebook or twitter and still don't have a cell phone. Lee Sedgwick showed me wrapping the lines around the handles years ago, unwrapping took a few days for me to untangle the mess. When I viewed JB's videos and I asked questions everything fell into place smoothly and never looked back or changed my routine I've learned from the tutorials here. I know when people that approach me when I'm flying they go into sticker shock when they ask about price. I've never looked at the dvd's or in my case the vcr tapes that came with the revs. But all and all I'm sure many people don't even know this website exists until later down the road. Like Mark said about the beer when he joined the club 38, he will be one of the people with full first hand info about it.
  16. You take that one guy that lived in Africa awhile back with his girlfriend Jane and his pet monkey. If he found a rev, without club 38, he probably would have dressing in the sail and used the tubes as a blow gun for mini poison darts!
  17. True, But! What is right, if you don't know what is wrong? How can you fix a zika virus before there is a zika virus?
  18. I was wondering why a polo shirt would be useless? Unless you're allergic to buttons and collars. Some people can't get to a kite festival especially if the person lives in Tristan da Cunha, no less getting back home after the festival. So this club 38 thing could be beneficial to some people. After all, how many times has it been mentioned in the past forums, "The Verticals go on the back of the Rev"
  19. No, guys, you're looking at the stock leaders and TK's leaders as a side-by-side comparison in the picture. As for cutting off the original leaders, I would make a knot close the end of the old leaders, also heat the cut ends to prevent fraying, then larkshead the new leaders on.

    Food! Yougurt!

As far as lifestyle, everything other in the topics. I make my own yogurt over and over and over and over again. While most people look for specials in their weekly ads. I'm still making yogurt from the batch from 6 months ago. The kicker, After my yogurt is, as you would say, "ready for harvest" I'll chill for a day, then right to the "nut milk bag" just for a day or 2, no big deal, because the whey is a lemon aid drink to me, The part for me that seems so strange is so many people go to the store and buy yogurt when they could be doing so much more with that money! Like buying another kite! Remember: milk = yogurt!
  21. I was looking for brave fox #2 but I couldn't see him/her.
  22. I'm looking at the picture and wondering why the end cap is off, did that become unglued? Also at the end of the string is something dark, is that part of the handles? Don't buy different handles those are fine. I haven't seen the handles for the flex but the picture looks like metal handles with one wrap of carbon, or is it a short metal insert at each end?
  23. Thanks for sharing your pictures of a kite I never heard of, I take it each flute plays a different note, it would be neat to hear one of these kites. It would be even neater to have one to fly.
  24. That's one heck of a walk, especially when you're done and you have to get back to the car. I've seen carts with fat tires for sand, those plastic toboggans / terrain sleds would work for both sand and land, and of course frozen lakes if you're into ice fishing.
