  1. Sorry, Steve didn't get any video of the demo's and no jelly fish. He did get the entire 1st show. Remember that one! lol BB Penny
  2. Lincoln City was awesome. The only sad part was after rerigging my indoor kite and single handle I lost good reverse. I cringe everytime I see the video. Scott W. doing beautiful large reverse overhead circles with his Indoor Rev. told us if something happened to his kite he would have trouble getting it to where he needs it to do that. I can so totally relate. I spent two days on it. I'll be back in the gym at the end of the week to work on that. The show the Parks produced for us turned out fantastic. In the competition, I placed near the end. Wayne Turner told me what a difference there was between that fly and the same routine the previous month where I took 2nd. It was nice of Wayne to discuss it with me. I told him truthfully I hadn't even listened to that music since the comp. When I want to place, I practice... When I'm concentrating on other things, (real life, haha) then I can compete as what I refer to as "filler'. We stayed at Ed Kunz's "An Exceptional place to B & B" again. With the hot tub in our room. What a blessing that was. We watched an eagle and a seal while sipping our morning coffee. We highly recommend him. He gave me the keys to the city, (He's Vice Mayor) but I gave them back. We met his mom, sister and brother who were visiting from the east coast and CA. Another couple stayed the first night. They were so funny. Then they came to the indoor and flew. I believe they flew almost everything they could. I met a family of dancers/performers who came to see the show and tried a couple of kites. Don't be a bit surprised if we see them with kites in the future. Susan Gomberg, our First Lady in Kiting paid me a wonderful compliment. Something like, "You know when you first started wearing costumes, we thought whatever floats your boat. But your costumes and routines keep getting better." That meant a lot to me. I'm not done yet you know. One of the newspaper articles said that I was 50. I told the reporter almost 50, but we were both on cell phones, so I'm sure she didn't hear that. That's ok.... Steve loves the idea of being married to an older woman. I've still got a good 10 years of flying in me. And why don't they ever say how old a man is? Huh? Giving lessons at Lincoln City was so much fun, tiring, but so much fun. Seeing Deb & Ken and Rhonda and Lindsey, the Parks, Scott W. and Lam just to name a few, made it a terrific weekend. Kathy Goodwind of Goodwind Kites in Seattle told me the best advice she could give me would be to go other places and see kitefliers. If Lincoln City keeps makeing this event the supreme event that it is, I won't have to. All the best Kitefliers will come to us! Thank you all who made this event such a success. Here's to a bigger, better show next year! Best Breezes, Penny Lingenfelter
  3. I wasn't to bossy was I Amy? Lincoln City was fantastic!! The newspaper articles were wonderful. We should tell people about the jelly fish. A small clear kitchen garbage bag. With a knot tied at the bottom so it can be attached to a string on a banner pole. The opening has long slender mylar strips attached. When you move the pole up and down slowly the jelly fish opens and closes and appears to be alive. We all fell in love with them and it gave us a chance to add a few kids to the show. (Amy included) The sad thing is, Steve is not a great video man. He thinks he got a whole show on video, but I'm not finding it and I saw none of the jellyfish on it. We're a little preoccupied right now and will have to look harder later. What a treat the whole weekend was. I can't wait for next year! BB Penny
  4. Hey, I've been a "Phour Play Phanatic" for 15 years. lol It's on our old Quad Squad cards.. Rev doesn't want to see it on a shirt though. Any more information then that... I'll keep to myself. BB Penny
  5. Aww come on 5 minutes with a 3 minute lesson. BB Penny
  6. We went to a body building competition this weekend, where the "Overall Winner" Kiting's version being "Grand Master" was announced, given the trophy and pictures taken, before the judges pooled their heads and said.. "oops, wrong answer" The trophy was taken back, and the pictures were retaken. if it weren't for that push for instant gratification the mistake might have been avoided. Still, how many people have to leave before the results are posted? It's not a satisfying ending for them. BB Penny
  7. Not me. But a few words on the different categories. Judging at the county fair seperated the kitemakers kites into categories like cellular, flat and bowed. etc. Kitemakers should write an article for you John. Lets go get us a kitemaker. Hope your having a fun trip. BB Penny
  8. Just be careful in high wind. You don't want your rotary cuff injured. I have the superblast and I'm like 5'4" and under 140lbs (today) I love it. I can buggy or do ballets. If I'm tired and it's blowing hard, it's got to much pull for me to hold on to unless I'm in a buggy to release some of that power. I still like the Superblast better then the blast. The blast jars me where the superblast has sweet brakes. I've seen men go down on the blast, so if it's power you want but not to buggy with it, that might just be your best choice. Good advice from Doug above. See if you can try someone elses, first. BB Penny
  9. Very nice! We didn't call them kisses, we just called them leading edge locks. You can also lock the leading edge to the back tips of the rev in front of you. And my favorite is a horizontal leading edge lock across. Tip to tip lock on Rev. 1's. 18 ft. across. Sweet! Best Breezes, Penny
  10. Hey, if there is an auction, you know I'll put $40 worth of tickets in that bag! Can't get enough of those UFO's. BB Penny
  11. Great Theresa. People will want to buy them! BB Penny
  12. OK, I'll email Lee and ask. And did he fly the quads in the pyramid that John had taken a picture of, or was it just for looks? How long of line did you use to quad indoor? 21 ft. just seems unstable indoors to learn quad. I can't wait. But I have to. Till after next weekend. And then outdoor flying kicks in. I am giving one to my friend for her birthday today. And I have to send my grandson one. It is absolutely his favorite kite. See why I need another. You can't get enough of them. OK John.. pull my number out of that hat please! BB Penny
  13. OK Audio. I saw the thread in kitemakers.com about UFO's but how do you stack them? Is it only quad and duel line that you can stack them as? I've been playing with the single line. I took the quad handles into the gym, but 21 feet of line on an osculating kite is to long for me as a beginner. I had to shelf it until I get through with my indoor events. Have you quaded them indoors yet? Man, there is just never enough fly time! BB Penny
  14. Did I mention I wanted this! I want them, I want them! OK, pull my number out of the hat. BB Penny
  15. Hang in there Amy, All we can do is make Grandma comfortable for now. So sad we can't do more. BB Penny
  16. We are staying with ED the Vice Mayor @ An Exceptional Bed and Breakfast. We love it there. Hopefully we'll get the room with the hot tub again. We've met a few people at breakfast there and they come out to fly when we're outdoors. We're going to get Ed a membership to the AKA for a thank you gift. He'll like that. BB Penny
  17. Aww Amy! If I had only asked sooner! I could have made you a blue/green sequinned fish tail and a lonnnnggg haired wig. (I can see what monkey would do with this remark already) No Monkey, No! Not a Lady Godiva costume, a mermaid costume. And if Monk wants to join us.. I could just make him a big pair of fish lips. We could slime John and he could be seaweed... ok......ahhh I needed a laugh. BB Penny
  18. You two have fun and stay out of trouble. Darn.. are you sure I shouldn't go as a chaperone? BB Penny
  19. Dancing around the fire huh? I've a new fire costume. Joyce is going to look for red nylons for me too. I asked for fast music, and it is fast. For the last two weeks I've been practicing with my single handle Rev. on longer lines. (after cutting the lines down 3 times I'm missing most of the lights at the gym) Longer lines are slow and more beautiful, but it isn't giving me the speed I'm after, so I decided this morning to go back to shorter lines. I have a new red/white/blue kite being painted by Jerry Fincher. Two more weeks to get together whatever I need and Lincoln City here we come! It sounds like Lincoln City has put quite a bit of advertisement out there with a commercial and press releases. It's sure to be a big hit. Still can't wait to see what the Parks have in store for us. Jerry just walked in with my kite! Woo Hoo! Big thank you's to him. He wants to try some acrylic paint on one after seeing Don Mock's work. We're thinking about what we want next. I'm leaning more towards abstract to get the most use out of it. Wonder if anyone would like to join me on the floor at Lincoln City with my UFO's and the little mermaid music in the background or if they'd let me pull a couple of kids out of the audience to play with us? Lots to do and so little time. Nope, there is never enough fly time! Best Breezes, Penny
  20. I'm sorry to hear your Dad is not doing well Amy. He'll love to see you on DVD. Did you show him the picture of you in the newspaper? BB Penny
  21. Hotdogger I've sent the url on to a few people to view. Tell Caitlin the reports bach have been good. BB Penny
  22. Awesome Picture! Tell Caitlin thanks and good luck next year. We will miss her. BB Penny
  23. My practice at the gym this morning was a little short on time. A young man who had flown the UFO last week was back with his sister. He said, "She usually justs sleeps in the car, but she got up to fly a kite." What could I do? I went out to the van and brought in two UFO's to play with. When Mom got out of her gym class she played with it too. I'm trying to fly each morning at least 15 min. -1/2 hour. I don't want to embaress myself at Lincon City. But if I do.. that's ok. BB Penny
  24. Yup, Kiting is contagious. Kitechoo, kitechoo... I have a bad case of it too. BB Penny
  25. Hey, Kurt Anderson just called me from Portland and said he was surprise to see a Rev. on a commercial for the Lincoln City Indoor and that I was all over it. lol I asked him what color hair I had, but he forgot to look, he was so surprised. John, Theresa, and Amy, have you two spotted this commercial yet? Wonder what's on it and if Lincoln City will auction a copy at the raffle? How fun. BB Penny
