  1. Go Lacie! Hopefully the other candidates will be as conscientious. BB Penny
  2. You might consider shorter lines with your EXP in light -o winds. Knowing how to fly a Rev. outdoors is little help to beginners in no wind. You have to relearn a few things. The exp in no wind is like flying a regular 1.5 indoor, harder, but doable. In light wind it's easier. Line lenght depends on you. 10ft, 25 ft. 50 ft. They are all different. The Indoor Rev. at 0-2 mph is still a completely different kite and those 2 wraps can be fragile on SUL. You might want to find your brakes before you move to one of those. Still crashing? Ouch.. Beach barking can be avoided by pushing down on both thumbs (using your wrist) and holding it. To much push will put the kite in reverse. to little and the kite won't stop. If you release then your back to a crash. No wind flying is challanging, but it makes a better flyer out of you and you don't have to wait for wind! Enjoy! Bb Penny
  3. Thank you. I clean up ok for a kiteflier. The indoor Rev. is an awsome kite for 0-2 mph. I saw John actually make the Rev. I SUL look good indoor and out recently. Prior to this year I was not so impressed. It probably boils down to what you put the time and practice into. I wonder if his wind range is better then the Indoor Rev? John? What did you say about your Rev. I SUL? I like the way it tracks better, so outdoors it might be high on my list. We'll see. I'm fine with what I have at the moment. I read your bio.. Way kewl. Enjoy those kids while you have them at home. I never believed my mom when she told me the time would go so quickly. I miss my babies. Thank goodness Kites keep me busy. BB Penny~ with no spell check in sight.
  4. Spririts are awesome. I liked them and the kite Nathan (sp) made. They are wonderful kites, but yes, each kite has it's own qualities. Isn't Uly's stack sweet? I like stacks, but only for a short time. For me my flying is still about quantity. Fly as long as I can. Never~Never enough fly time. BB Penny
  5. I'll vouch for him too. I've never purchased from him, but he has followed through with his generousity and I've never heard a bad word about him. BB Penny ~ Singing a change is in the air.....
  6. August of next year? Ughhh! We know how life gets in the way. Keep us uspdated on preperations please. We look forward to your post. BB Penny
  7. Yes, you can fly it outdoors as I am forced to do on occasion. Short or long lines. Wind range is 0- 2 mph. John's SUL Rev I was looking very interesting in San Ramon. That's one I don't have and might want to look into down the line. Lines 10-25 for short lines and longer ones are ok, too. Enjoy! BB Penny
  8. Hehehe Me too! I'm wanting to fly two indoors at once, but the handles I have right now need a hinge of some sort in them. But I've done it for a short time. I'm outdoors right now. I love it, but I sure am missing flying indoors. See, even after close to 20 years of flying my Rev. it still holds plenty of challenges. Don't wait o me... get better then me and even John B. He's not flying two at once "yet" either. You'll let me know if you get bored, right? BB Penny PS Love those stacks guys.
  9. I'm not rich. Darn it! hehehe I don't mean stacked. Anyone can fly stacks. You can stack everything you have so far. I mean fly 3 at once individually! One off of each hand and one from your waist or feet or where ever your talent comes from. It's ok though. If your not bored... Your ok . BB Penny
  10. wait a minute..... back up.... You can't tell me your bored with a Rev. already? How long have you been flying? What can you do with it? What can you not do with it yet? If you've really got it under control then maybe what you need is not a SS or a blast. (luv them both) but two- yes two more-1.5's. I mean Rodger Maddy is getting old. (Sorry Rodger) We will need another multi line-multi kite kiteflier to travel the world and represent us. It's not going to be me. I'm old too and don't have time for that kind of practice. It is something worth thinking about. BB Penny P.S. How are your reverse walk across's?
  11. The Supersonic is a little smaller and more controllable. It's rated 4-20mph. The shockwave is quicker and needs a little more wind. It's rated 6-25 mph. They both have a little pull to them and they will teach you how to fly things you might find challenging on a 1.5. A sliding circle. The Speed series likes sliding circles. Inverted sliding circles become a piece of cake. Either kite is good. Just how much pull do you want? They don't pull so much in the lighter winds. Either one would be fun to add to your bag. Have you got a Rev II yet? If you haven't, you must not have heard my tsunami theory. I'm predicting more wind and rain headed our way.... I just don't know when. We went to Ocean Shores and Westport this weekend. The vented II flew beautifully in at least 30 mph. I'd vote for the S.S. unless you live for a big pull. BB Penny
  12. Wow! Congratulations J.D.! Choose your career wisely. There are many people who work to hard to fly kites. What a shame. How exciting for you. Did you get any good graduation presents? BB Penny
  13. Woa, your over 30 and still kewl. How do you do it? hehehe Hope it's a wonderful birthday John. BB Penny
  14. I had to much fun. I'm soar, tired and sun burnt. Steve actually threw me over his shoulder and carrried me off of the field. (something about a plane to catch) Heheh Wow... it was fun. It was an honor to fly under that 1000 sq. ft. flag. We have some good stories to tell. BB Penny
  15. It's my husbands birthday and we're going for the fun of it. See you there. BB Penny
  16. I hope you find them Alan. They are adorable. Hey, Bob Wendt, the announcer for Lincoln City would like a copy of the DVD. Do you have his email? Did you get my check? See you at Ocean Shores. It's Steve's B-day and we're going for the fun of it. BB Penny
  17. hey, I'm sweet and innocent..... ok, maybe not innocent, but I'm sweet! I'd be happy with a Rev. I to play with. BB Penny
  18. Kurt passed away May 6, 2006 and is now with his wife Linda. We'll miss him. I talked to him on Thursday. When we hung up he had 6 other people to call back. I hope he got to speak to each and everyone of them. God bless Kurt. This from Jon Ellis: The family and friends of Kurt Anderson, are having a memorial kite fly at Sunset Beach, Oregon, Saturday May 13 at 1pm. There will be a pot luck after. Everyone is invited to come and help us celebrate Kurts life. Jon
  19. Not like that video. But a surge of wind w/a power blast can put big men on their faces. Being aware and being careful is what it's all about. I like that Mike... throw your kite to the wind, not caution. Two weeks ago I was buggying with my Super Blast and doing a little sideways sliding on some turns. I've hit soft sand in a turn before and flipped pretty hard. When I had enough of a slide that I thought I might get flipped or pulled out, I released one of my handles. Instant save. I'm not a buggy guru, I'm just a powder puffer. I want the power to play soft and not get hurt. BB Penny
  20. I'm shocked and numb. This Grandmaster was a sweetheart. Wow. Penny From: Your AKA Region 10 Director Reply To: AKA Region 10 Director To: "Jerald Graham" Subject: An Empty Space in the Sky & our hearts Sent: Wednesday, May 3, 2006 6:49 PM We have just learned that Sam Huston passed away suddenly Tuesday morning. The family has requested that no contact be made at this time by coming to their home, by email or telephone. They have stated for now, cards and mail only, would be appreciated. That's all we know for now and as soon as more information is available we will pass it on. This is such a sad loss in our kiting family. Sam was a great man. 21. Hi Mike in Chico. Is this blue genie Mike? I agree the Rev. I SLE would be a middle ground. Guess I'm all about fly time though. It would still have a limited wind window, especially for a beginner = not enough fly time. That graceful gentle giant becomes a dead wait for beginners in light wind. BB Penny
  22. The decision is yours. You'll just have more fly time on the 1.5 due to the wind window. The blast can be difficult even for Rev. fliers in lighter wind. the Blast is going to be much more limited. Tricks on the Blast? A few, but it's not what a Rev. is about to start with. It's about the control. Stopping, stopping, reverse flight in any direction, and much more. The 1.5 SLE is great for wind and throw in a lighter leading edge and you've got a kite that can be flown in no wind. (with practice) Oh, and I imagine for the price of the blast you can get the 1.5, an extra leading edge and still have money left over to save towards your next Rev. What did I say? Oh, yeah... it's your decision. BB Penny
  23. Is this your first Rev? I would suggest staring with the 1.5. SLE, It is going to have a bigger wind window then the Blast especially if this is your first Rev. The Rev Blast will be harder to fly in light wind. Have fun! BB Penny
  24. Me too, me two. In fact.. Any chance I can get two? BB Penny
