We can relate Amy. Kites have gotten a lot of people through a lot of dark spots in life. Remember the old can and string telephones and you can actually hear a little of what was carried on the string. It's the same with God. BB Penny

Theresa? Tell me more please. First I've heard of this option. BB Penny

Tons of new Kitelife gear...
Penny Lingenfelter replied to John Barresi's topic in News from the Webmaster
Ewww, What about the "Wind checks are for weinies".. Though maybe I should have "wuss" instead... lol Is it to suggestive to park at a professional building like work? I like that one. And "Wind or No Wind kiteflier" I'd like that one. If you get enough together that I like, I' can place another order. I need something in reference to indoor. Alexis gave me a "Pirate for Hire" sticker that is befiitting, too. Did you know Carl and Lisa will be at Orting? BB Penny -

I received my bumper stickers. Way kewl! I really like the WWJF one. I do need several more as I'm no where close to my original set of bumperstickers and there are none on the front bumper. I don't know where I can get a pic of the indoor pin to show you. It was a stick girl w/red hair and the rev. behind her. The kitelife logo is on several of the bumper stickers, but I was wanting a full size one that could easily be seen. It's just that kewl. We'll keep working on it. John, keep your eyes open in your travels. Maybe we can make more and I can get another order going. Tks! BB Penny -
Cutting down our Rev. lines from 100 ft. to 80 ft. helped a lot. Now I believe stock lines will be closer to 80 ft. then 100ft. I've flown 8 ft. to 200 ft. on the same Rev. 1.5. The wind would determine what's best to use unless you just use whatever is not tangled. BB Penny

Wow, reading this whole thread again was great. Anyone have a cigarette? I've always wanted to be a soul rider. That might explain my passion for the Kite. Wind or No Wind~ I want to fly. I love to fly for other people, but Nirvana is when I'm by myself with my kite in my hand and my music in my ear. That's my soul flying. Last week my husband and his associates came to lunch next door to where I work and asked me to come join them. After a few minutes of introductions Steve's boss asked me, "Now tell me about your kites." Of course I gave the polite response. "Are you sure you want me to get started on kites? I'm fanatical. He said yes, and I talked about kites. My problem is I still can't figure out a way to tell someone everything I want to about kites. Even after a couple of years at Toastmasters to learn to talk without babbling so much it's inadequate. With everything I thought to tell him I forgot to mention Kitemakers creating unbelievable new art all the time that surprises and amazes people. I just can't condense everything there is to share about kiting. I ddn't even mention soul flying. ;( Someone told me once that I was lucky to find something to be passionate about. mmm, imagine life without passion or soul flying. Ugghh.. better yet, don't imagine it. Imagine Soul flying instead. Nice thread you guys. BB Penny

Hey you,~ Each child will be different. I've seen 5 yr. olds on Rev.s with better control then some adults. I generally have good luck giving a 7 yr. old a lesson on a Rev. A good questions might be. "How old before they can untangle thier lines?" Good to see you. BB Penny

Hey John, I ordered some bumperstickers, but you know what I couldn't get was the kitelife logo, Have you hugged your kite and iquad. The indoor pin for WSIKF by Ron Suyemuta (sp) is cute. BB Penny ~melting in the heat. -

Thank you John. I'm excited...over bumperstickers. Good lord I'm easily entertained. How about the quad picture on 4 line fanatic? It would work for me. Oh, we need an indoor bumper sticker. Thats the stick person flying the quad behind them like on my indoor pin at WSIKF. I'll bet John would charge you to use the Wind Junkie.. oh well, I'll survive. Paint the sky had the best logo on their shirt. I'm missing it. BB Penny -

Kewl Kewl! OK, Paint the Sky is out of business and my "Wind Junkie" bumper sticker is starting to peel off. Any chance John wouldn't mind you making some of those? Jeff Howard had the "kite slut" bumper sticker, but I have to be at a lot of events by myself and don't really want that image left with people. Rev wasn't to crazy about the "Phour Play Phanatics" bumper sticker. Where as, I kinda liked it... But what about "4 string fanatic" or "the politically correct version of "4 line fanatic" ? hehehe In my lesson I say string and the kitefliers hollor "Line~Penny" But line doesn't rhyme. Ok, now I'm just getting greedy. John, can I just send you a check with my total on it? My computer is so slow at home it's frustrating to try anything like pay pal. Or maybe I'll find I have extra time. BB Penny -
Quad line column...
Penny Lingenfelter replied to John Barresi's topic in The Web Site (nuts and bolts)
I never have enough line sets! I have my original 150 lb 100 ft. cut down a little. Usually I fly on 80-90 lb @ 75-80 ft. The stock lines should be good. Much heavier or longer and you'll have drag unless you are flyingin good wind. Then the short lines and no wind I use 25-10 ft. all 90 lb for me. I'm just to hard on my Rev. to fly 50 lb. I've broken all 4 strings with that weight. I've got 200 lb which can be very fun in high winds or used for dog staking. Now the Rev. flyers are calling for 120 ft.(?) to fly team. hummph... I just can't keep up with the Jones. A day late and foot short. It depends on what you fly Wen as to what your co-op will want to make. Don't fly to light of weight lines in good wind, or you will snap them. I'm still of the theory if your lines are singing change something. Snapped lines can be dangerous. BB Penny -
Now you made me want to go buggying Anthony. hmmmm where can I put that on my schedule? BB Penny
-
Way to go Wen. You'll be ready to take on Darth Vader in no time. BB Penny

Yes, wwjf kitelife.com buggy gruven oh, do you have that one? Anything else. My bumper stickers are fading and we can't have that. -
You can fly it in winds under 10 and still have some pull. Though it can be more of a work out then a pull. Rotator cuff - it's the set of muscles/tendons in your shoulder that holds your arm in the socket. The rotary cuff does not have that many muscles and tendons.. That's the problem. Once hurt it may never be the same. I'm careful because I want to do this forever. The Blast and Super Blast's have more pull then the speed series.

It sounds good. Adding a rubberband, velcro strap, or some other type of clasp to hold your line in place on the winder helps too. BB Penny
-
ooooohhhh~ Kewl picture Monkey. I've flown in 35 + winds. The rev II vented is surely the best stock kite for those winds. Anywhere I've been with those winds the vented 1.5's have had to come down much sooner then the Rev. II's. Be careful out there. BB Penny and good luck in France!

Submitting a program list for AKA Ballet routines?
Penny Lingenfelter replied to TeeCee's topic in Trick Flying
Except for the degree of difficulty that has to be factored in. BB Penny -
Yes, be sure and pick up a kite stake to hold the handles down while you untangle, or set the kite up for a launch. That way the wind won't take the kite off and make more tangles. A kite stake can be a good stick, or a tent stake or even custom made. You might already know this, but many people don't and you see them trying to launch their dual line on short lines and get back to their handles and make a mess... and ohhhhh it's ugly. Enjoy! Only a few show bumperstickers available. So, if no show, no go? Tks. Penny -
I have nothing to say except Hello BB Penny ~who unwinds out a line at a time on a little piece of cardboard paper for quick untanging while watching a movie. four little pieces of cardboard do the trick. I think there's a law somewhere that says-No untangling old lines on the beach unless it's done by a non-flying spouse.
