  1. Point is - we all learned the same way - from the start!! Didn't know anything, just got in there and banged around!! Sooner or later it all comes to you and you enjoy it! "Nothing to fear but fear itself!"
  2. To fly team - you've got to .....fly team!!!! Ain't gonna learn anything sitting on the sidelines, watching!! Roll up the sleeves and get in there!!
  3. Next step is to put yourself in the middle of that line - HAHA!! No escape route!!! Once you get over the beginning "jitters", read panic, start breathing, learn what the calls mean, then you really start to enjoy it!! I flew with those guys at WSIKF this year, lotsa fun, and plenty patient too! Never have I heard anyone thrown off a line due to inexperience, we've all learned from the ground up and are willing to help everyone!! ENJOY!!
  4. Nick - were you down on the Rev field? I was there almost all the time - blue hat and goggles to protect eyes! Must have been close to 100 of us altogether, even though we only got 81 up for our record attempt!
  5. Congrats Nick Russell (no, not you Nick - RR)!! Need any help with setting up or flying that thing, just ask here! Plenty of help to be had!!
  6. Txscout - I tried paracord insides for a set of "quick releases" for my lines and found it too slippery to knot effectively! And never use it with others using different lines - spectra melts at a much lower temp and odd lines will "cut" through it! Realize it's a cost thing, but use sparingly!!
  7. Try 5-6" and see if that helps, then try increasing as you go! Again as I said - everyone has a setup that works for them!! I can't fly JB's setup, he doesn't like my handles!! But they work for me!!! Don't be afraid to try things, give it a fair trial, use what works, discard the rest! In the end it's what you feel comfortable with!!
  8. Agree with makatakam - equalize lines and adjust with leaders!! If you haven't made or use longer leaders, look on the Rev forum for info!! I use 30-50' x 50# lines with either my Zen or SUL and 15" handles! Setup works for me, others use different equipment!! Nice thing about the Rev - there is no one perfect setup for everyone, find what works for you!!
  9. Hmmm! Changing gears on us, eh ? Not changing gears, just adding to the fun!!
  10. Calibrate using the "neck hair" method!!
  11. To be honest, I have never tried any of the Speed series Revs before!! This year at WSIKF, I did get my hands on a Blast, in light wind, and oh boy, fun!! For some odd reason, this piques my interest - I'M IN!!
  12. Just not sure how to get an accurate reading??
  13. Not sure how to tie a wet finger to kite???
  14. Some one forget Karma drawing?? Tempting fate, I tell ya!!
  15. No flack from me, Hadge!! Kites are kites, whatever turns you on, works for me!! The world of Revs offers so much, just because you aren't good at it (yet), doesn't mean you can't be!! But if that doesn't work for you and something else does - have at it!!
  16. Thanks Wayne! No Problem, support your local kite business!!!
  17. The "giver" gets the prize!! Very nice!!
  18. Since you are here in the NW, I'd suggest calling Theresa at The Kite Shoppe about what she knows!! Has her fingers plugged into just about anything kiting up here!
  19. Jynx - I think it's dead!! For sure the free mail is gone, maybe only the paying higher levels still exist? I stopped using it a while ago, when I was able to log on, but found my contact list gone! Luckily I had moved most of my contacts over to a different address and have been using that one ever since! John - any more on this??
