Woo Hoo! The newspaper article turned out to be quite productive. A new contact thinks she can get me into a ships hangar when one is ready. That’s been one of my goals! Yeah! She asked me to fly on a roof, or a field on the 4th of July. We will be meeting in a few weeks to look at the area. She is the Special Events Coordinator for the North Region of Navy Base Kitsap. Sounds good to me. What a wonderful opportunity this should make for Indoor Kite Festivals and endless kiting opportunities year round! A 4th of July Festival on a military base sounds like a lot of fun. People curious about kiting have contacted me, and even an old kiteflier I had not heard from in a while wrote to say hello. I’m thrilled! Now, who out there knows a King with Palace ceilings high enough to fly kites in? Have him call me please. BB Penny PS LOLLY at Revolution Kites had her BABY Sunday, April 9th. Congratulations Lolly!! “Alexandria Joy” if she came out right. How wonderful! Xoxoxox to the family.

Hey, the feedback from the article has been good. A few contacts already and one of them is a special events for the shipyard. (One of my goals is to fly inside a ships hangor) woo hoo! BB Penny

No contest for a first kite. The 1.5 SLE. The pirate video with Black rev. at Lincoln City Demo site in Kitelife's videos is a SLE 1.5 They are pretty versatile. That's one heavy kite with multi layers of paint and a banner. It weighs a ton. It 's nothing fancy inside at that weight, but take it outside and you have a multi talented kite. That Shockwave has a more limited wind window. BB Penny

http://www.kitsapsun.com under neighbors. Our local paper did an article, too. Hmm, not bad. BB Penny

Ahh, it's ok, we all get off subject. I have a video of Sue Taft dog staking her dual, too. Years ago. Have you seen the N.E group ice kiting or kitesking, or whatever they call it? Living in FL you can get into kitesurfing, too. So many directions to go in. BB Penny

Poor Bill Walton at Moses Lake. It's the busiest time of year for his and Sally's Moses Lake Flower Shop. He puts that event on single handled and it's so much work. If I know Bill, he'll be back. Just wish there was some way we could assist. On another note: We made the Sports page again! Lincoln City sent me some rips of an article (mostly pictures) that they ran after our Indoor event. With coordinators like Sandy Pfaff and Ron Sears behind us, this is going to keep growing into an awesome signature event for the city. The News Guard in Lincoln City Oregon did a fine little write up. Hopefully, next year they will do a great plug for the event prior to it. The reporter called it a deceptively difficult sport. I kinda like that...Try dragging an SLE around with banners attached.. deceptively difficult. Don't forget to check out the video under Demo's on the kitelife site here. Tks John, and whoever else is responsible. BB Penny

Good Morning. The only kite store I've been to is The Kite Loft in Treasure Island. Well, worth a trip! I'm not familiar with Florida ~ yet. But there's some great festivals we read about. Who can steer this man tot he right spot? Maybe contact a kite store and ask them. Buggy on~ BB Penny

Welcome Classair. I have a friend who skydives.. I believe he went to get something from the Walmart store Sat. and 3 hours later his wife found him falling from the sky. This gentlemen had trouble flying a Rev, because of his preconceived ideas, but then once it clicked. look out. The nice thing is, we not only get to flair (sp) to slow down, but we can brake and reverse. Usually not used so much in powerbuggying though. Which state are you in? I've got to practice at the beach, and may be able to get some buggyiing in before my next event. Welcome to kites and buggying. I think your going to like it here. BB Penny

Yup, he's got the kite bug. Making heavy kites, duals into quads, quads into duals, flying in the rain, the dark... light wind. Buy two kite tails and cll us in the morning. I would suggest at least 5 miles to fly anthijng when your new. Even 7mph. The old adage is; If grass flies, so do I. Take a piece of grass and drop it. If it goes strait down, pull out a no wind kite or toy. If it floats foward a little, you'd need to move backwards a little or a lot. If it takes off, so should your kite. Unless it's rigged wrong. Other mishaps.. blaming the spouse for launching it wrong. It's not usually their fault. Good luck, I got past all those obstacles and so can you! BB Penny

Good question. We had some video taken but I'm not sure if anyone will put together a dvd. My husband only shot the first demo, which of course was our worse. Everyone improved after the first day. Sonya was estatic not to have to film. Oh, Diane took video for someone. Hmm.. I wouldn't mind having a copy of it too. Who's making the DVD? Wayne has a new DVD burner I hear. Hopefully it will work better. Wayne Turner. The DVD from Arlington glitched on Mom's computer too. I still hadn't seen it on my computer, but it's a safe bet it will happen. Stop, go action. The Arlington DVD is excellent exscept for the glitches. I paid $15 and it was well worth it... darn glitches.. Wayne, let us know how that new DVD burner works. Kiting Magazine - Rick Brown Article
Penny Lingenfelter replied to boomertype's topic in The Web Site (nuts and bolts)
Hey John, great magazine. I liked Moon's article on Fort Worden, great from a beginners point of view. Is there no way you can ask people to subtitle pictures? That would help a lot. Who and what are we looking at? BB Penny -
Paul DeBakker and I played 2 on 1 airyo.. Standing close together and playing chinese fire drill... over and around, over and around. It was the first time I'd tried that. Fun! We laughed!. Then one person with two wands on an air-yo added a whole new dimension. More fun! We all want to fly two at once, too. Then in the commons at the Lincoln City Fly I gave a quick, here tug and point lessons to many people.. What a hoot.. That and I had Shawn Jones's kite I call a flighter on a stick and about 10 ft. of line. So two sticks and a dual kite with mass people surronding the floor. I continually reminded people, it's only fun till you poke somebody's eye out. Luckily for me know one was hurt and everyone there was smiling. Last year we gave more lessons in the gym, this year I should have gone out to the commons sooner to give lessons. Now I know. BB Penny

hehehe My slide was fast and for buggying, not parking. It not only felt great, it looked great. BB Penny

Woo hoo, great memories of buggying with my Super Blast while I slid it sideways across the sky. I only have a sky tiger power kite, and pivots get a little messy, but it does do everything a rev. does.. only not as well.... but then.. what does? BB Penny

Anyone havce any pictures of Lincoln City? Especially the opening act where we are all in front standing? My husband is wonderful, but not a photographer. He didn't get one snapshot of the front view and show. BB Penny

I'm not positive I can make it to Ocean Shores. No promises. They liked my new routines at Lincoln City. They need a lot of work, but they can see where I'm going with it. lol Changing costumes in the ladies room gave me the opportunity to get feed back from the audience. They liked the gold pieces in my leprechaun routine flying off the back of the kite. It looks ugly to me, because I can see where I had to sew the pieces together, but from the stands they saw flying gold pieces. Yeah! I usually think I have the best view of the kite flying, but that would be inspiring to see from a distance. (Hmm, more gold outside?), or will it do like my pirate banner and fall apart with pressure? OK, I'm on the lookout for black on both sides. heavy duty crossbone, triangle flags. I saw some at the Oriental Trading Company after I'd purchased mine. My kite had a wardrobe malfunction. <_< My flags from tip to tip would break apart most of the time with pressure. Now I know. <_< I can't wait to try my messy pirate routine oustide. The bubbles on the gym floor are so slippery! I can't wait to get the routines decently choreographed. Now it's time to take them outside to practice in preparation for the outdoor shows. OK, I'm tired and babbling. I'm going to go find Steve and slip quietly next to him. He'll ground me. OH, and one more piece of info... Ron Sears said he was looking into a generator big enough to light a City! Lincoln City's Indoor Festival should be even bigger and better next year. Woo Hoo! Have a great week every one. LATITUDE 45! BB Penny PS Naughty, knoty Rhonda. I'm so glad you told us the story, now I know it's you! BB Penny

Lincoln City Indoor Kite Festival
Penny Lingenfelter replied to The Kite Shoppe's topic in Open Topic
Thanks to not only the organizers and worker bees but those that came to watch the event. We did have a fantastic time. I'm just tired now. Between the excitement and the pepsi I didn't sleep a wink Saturday night! We had lights, smoke and aviance. The Parks deserve a big thank you for making the event so professional. We look forward to doing it again. Now what? Now where are we going? Guess I better look at the calendar. Oh, Mousie, keep your hands close together and lead that wren around! There, that's my version of a two string lesson. Lets keep raising the bar! BB Penny -

I don't know. Describe what youy saw. BB Penny -
Is that the best they have? <_< My husband's old construction company built a carwash/gas station in Lakewood, WA. about 2002. As supervisor my husband put up a temporary sidewalk with boards and no lights as they worked. There were no prexhisting lights and there was no sidewalk to start with. This is right off a freeway exit. A couple chose to use the side of the road, which was a main road, rather then then walk on the path at night. A drunk driver hit the lady and killed her. Then took off. Mean while, the family managed to sue and receive... 1 million form the construction company for not having a sidewalk and lights put up where none had exhisted before. 1 million from the sign comapny for not having enough signs that said don't walk in the road... 1 million from the city for not having those lights, or sidewalk and 1 million from the gas station for being built there. (see -crossing the street would have been out of the question) Now I won't get into the abusive, handicapped boyfriend she lived with, or anything else about the case. But after some time all settled for a million a piece to keep from being sued for more. Oh, When they found the drunk driver, it was discovered he was an illegal alian and he was deported right away-only to return at the first opportunity. Nothing happened to him at all. I probably didn't even list all the companies that got sued. Justice, huh? Sad state of affairs. People are just not held accountable anymore. BB Penny

Hey Don, the windless video is good. The Arlington UP Your River is excellent, too. They are going to be selling it for $15. $5 for the copying, 10 to support a young lady earning her way to Austrailia? for a shot put cometition.. Now... I probably have the info wrong... like New Zealand for dart throwing, but the young lady has been working hard to make the trip and was a big help to us at the Up Your River Festival. It is a good cause. BB Penny

Oh Debbie it sounds wonderful. I need to get a hold of Moses Lake. They have planned their festival for the same time as the NWSKL. I'm not fully commited to anything at this point. Good to hear from you. Have you heard from Ms. Aiyana? She should come down for that, too. Lucky you at the beach! Everyweekend we've had beautiful blue skies, nice for a change from the rain, but there's been no wind! I can stay home and fly no wind. Thanks for letting me know about the indoor Deb. Hey, if I come down, do you have a driveway I can park my van/rv? You know the blue one with the stars. That use to be grey. It makes me smile. BB Penny

Oh, I hope it works! I had trouble with it on my DVD player, but it did work. I just couldn't skip to different flyers like I could on the dvd I received from Don Ostey. I hesitated on mailing them, but thought they'd play nice with you. If it doesn't let me know. I'll go to Don for some DVD's. We do what we can. BB Penny

Thanks Theresa. Mom and Steve and I went to the gym last night and tried the music for the first time voice over's and all. Anyone remember the music from "The Quiet Man.?I think it's as he marches across the fields... and /or the fight.. but my husband says the music is fast! I told him no it's not, it's fast and gains momentum! lol Mom might come up and help me learn to time and 1/2 my flight, so I'm not as jerky... (watch it) <_< It's just almost impossible to do a single step and have the kite 1/2 step... little more then rubbing your tummy and patting your head. I think Mom will be a great help. It is so fun! You know what I have to work on.. What my son use to call his biggest muscle and he probably got it honestly---my mouth. A voice over not only requires animated pantomine movement.... but I have to learn to lip sync my words. Arrrr... oh, and I wore my pirate costume and took my bubble sword in the gym... oops... keep a rag close to hand for wet floors! People I passed on the way in said one word....... Arrrrrrr! Lots of fun! BB Penny
