  1. It wouldn't be a huge difference, but to an experienced Rev pilot, you'd be able to feel the effect.
  2. We generally use 12' lines. You can leave the bridle on, but it tends to take wear and tear on the concrete/asphalt. Try a few minutes both ways.
  3. Monks might have one, he ordered recently.
  4. Oh geez... Thanks. I'm dying to see more videos from the Wood... Including the dog stake!
  5. I think I would feel the vertical space between each yo yo during flight, whenever the kite significantly changes altitude. For sure, I'll have to try it... But, I'm thinking it might be even more effective if they were closer together vertically.
  6. Related discussion on GWTW... http://gwtw-kites.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=33498
  7. We're pleased to yet again announce the next prize being given away to our most appreciated supporters, the Kitelife Subscribers... For roughly 10 cents per day they play a major role in keeping KL growing in every way. Acrobatx, roughly an $80 value! You can sign up here. Odds of winning for this prize is currently 1/280, and will be drawn on July 15th, 2007! http://www.kitelife.com/prizes/acrobatx54/index.htm Our thanks, and the very best to you... Let the drooling begin!
  8. Drum roll please... The winner of this great prize is: Timothy Stahl - Subscriber #363 Congratulations Timothy! Our new prize(s) will be announced within 24 hours.
  9. Argh, sorry guys... Just got in from a weekend in Canada. My bookkeeper is taking up my main computer for the day, but I'll draw and announce the winner later this evening.
  10. Interesting design, I'd like to try it.
  11. We're going to be on 120' of 90# or 100' of 50#, depending on the wind. Space really is at a premium, so a mega fly may or may not be possible... Remains to be seen. Wind direction will count for something too, since the field is long and narrow. For general flying (which there isn't a lot of), ideal line length is 90-100 feet.
  12. 5, possibly 6 iQuad members are scheduled to attend this year's Brookings event. Hrm, will be fun to squeeze all the kites into that field... Short lines a'coming!
  13. A product line changes to reflect the needs of the consumer over time... It's only natural. If people don't buy the SLE, it will be discontinued, or made an option, I'm sure. All the recent changes you've seen in the Rev products (no mylar, etc) have come from flier input... The SLE is no different. To be fair, there are a few people who like the SLE spars... So, I'm sure they'll always be available, if not standard in the kites.
  14. I'm dying to see these Kris, quit teasing!
  15. I was flying the UL in a little high winds than I normally would, but you'll see some of what it can do.
  16. I'm 100% for 1/4" rods... Our SLEs stay in a junk pile, used only for corporal punishment among team members. Every skilled pilot I've ever spoken to who has spent a solid amount of time on both eventually bags the SLE spars.
  17. Also, it's hard to beat first hand experience... You can often test fly such kites at events, should you have the chance to attend some.
  18. The SLE is WAY too rigid, pure and simple... Even when it does flex, it SNAPS back too quickly. Using the two 1/4" leading edges provides the slight flex we need for the kites to maintain their precision and flight abilities.
  19. I much prefer the Silver Fox... To me, the FC requires a very heavy hand to get through the tricks and doesn't combo as well. Also, the SF has way better precision when set on the 3-point bridle.
  20. You rock Kris & Katie! Keep that good stuff coming.
  21. Sweet! Just wait until you spend some time with other Rev pilots. My experience with the vented Rev 1.5 is that it's even more precise and holds far better reverse flight. The standard sails are much faster and have a real SNAP to the motion... Not quite as precise as a vented, but more bang and speed. Estimate of my preferred vented frame combos: 6-12mph| 2 wrap frame 12-18mph | 3 wrap frame 18-25mph | 4 wrap frame 25mph + | 4 wrap frame, added 3 or 4 wrap (double leading edge) Assuming you already have an SLE leading edge in your bag... With those two packages, you should be able to fly in pretty much anything above 3mph right off... Down to 1-2mph with some basic techniques and a little more work... Plus, it's generally a better price than buying 2 SLE sails and the 4 complete frame sets (1x2wrap, 2x3wrap, 1x4wrap) the vented and standard B-Series come with when purchased together. My 2 cents.

  23. Wow, what a bad draw... Not much to say Ant, except that it's "one of those things"... Not likely to happen often.
  24. I was on the catwalk with Gustavo in that video.
  25. Thanks guys.
